It is scary, to run a home business from home, surrounded by 3 all-day-long fighting kids, without help of anyone, except a maid. My 3 kids hardly sleeps and even if they do, the boys only nap about an hour each day. Rest of the time, they are still hooked to me for “their pacifier” (obviously weaning fail!), and that’s when they do not fight!

During daytime, I can no longer stay by the computer much, so I spend my time travelling here and there, bringing my kids along to make arrangement with my tailor for the orders. It is only after the kids sleep at night, I can reply all orders and inquiries on emails so I had to work pass 2am each day :(

Overall, Mama Patch anniversary sales was a great success, thanks to support from so many friends and readers from this blog. Although margin is really less after the great discount, I had the greatest satisfaction when many friends who were skeptical about using washable cloth pads actually took this opportunity to try the pads out since the pads are so damn cheap. You should see how they reacted and comment after their first trial! One review from one of our blogger friend here.

Not only that, our old customers who know the “magical” of cloth pads actually took this great opportunity to grab like there is no tomorrow. Besides that, babywearing was greatly promoted to many first timers also where many babywearers bought slings as gift for their relatives and friends.

With the support from so many people on our homemade, now Mama Patch can afford to hire another SAHM to sewn from home. Our 2nd tailor, a thirty-plus Indonesian Chinese young widow, who were left alone in this country with 2 daughters has been sewing to make a living ever since her hubby passed away few years back due to cancer. Besides promoting quality handmade, I am very happy that we manage to live to our motto, to support work-from-home mothers.

Our promotion finally ended at 31 March (you won’t believe how relief I am at that very moment!), and we pack to leave home for Cheng Beng at hubby’s hometown. Check out one interesting place we visited while we were back to hometown soon…..

Fun with medicine

Thanks for all well wishes, for us. We wish you the same too, to be in the pink of health before the arrival of CNY.

The boys are indeed getting better and today, Korkor no longer release smelly-watery yellow poo. That ends the misery of forcing them to drink so much of medicine, especially the “plasticky smell” medical powder sachet. Although they are only having flu and coughing now, drinking only 2 types of medicine is a bliss.

The boys love to play with the syringe. Tricking them to take medicine becomes easy this way. Of course they are smart that they would not drink those sweet syrup so we alternate a few syringes with plain water (it is easy as my boys love plain water).

Mama Patch CNY & Valentine’s Day Special Collection

In conjuction to this coming festive season, and also for the first time, we are offering a great bargain of 8% off for this Hot and Sexy Ring Sling collection. A great time to add another item to your wardrobe, matching it with your CNY clothing :) Check out more details at Mama Patch Website

Mama Patch will be close from 12th~20th February 2009 for this coming CNY celebration. Last shipment will be 11th February and resume again on 22th February 2009.

On the other hand, I am still rushing to deliver orders for Mama Patch so do not have the time to bake my pineapple tarts yet. In order to not neglecting my family, I am closing order for custom made pads and ring slings now so I can have more time for CNY preparation. For ready stock, you can still send in order and we will ship out before we leave home for CNY.

A typical day of a SAHM with twin boys

As the boys (now at 19 months) hardly nap now (only once a day), I no longer enjoy long online working hours. For the 2 hours nap, I have to reply emails, enquiries, update worksheet when receive order, kepo-ing and visit my friends in FB, take pictures, edit them and then upload the products and my blog pictures, snap the pads, make arrangement and pack things for shipping, go out run errand, pick up stocks from my tailor, and finally blog, chat, bake (if I have time)!

*Now you see*

For instant, this is what they did when I want to take picture of my sling for my website. As they just recovered from their flu and cough and have better appetite recently, now they both look almost the same again! Gosh, even myself can’t even recognise who is who now!

*Now you don’t*

As they were playing at the grill door, blocking my lighting, kept on appearing in my many camera clicks, then go play on the electric plugs (sigh….modern plugs are situated so much lower now at the risk of children touching them), we shooed them away.

“WAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!”

And this is what happen usually when I am in a rush to get things done, so that I can meet delivery and reply mails. I got stuck afterward for hours, trying to soothe my *si beh cheung hei* boys down, nurse them, coax them and finally by the time they fell asleep, their “want-to-play” sister is back from school again!

So now you know why it is so hard to get just one simple email or quotation replied from SAHM like me. Having a maid is not much better when it comes to managing the boys as they are also older now, and know who to choose to carry them.

Breastfeeding Pacifying twins @ 19 months

Tell you, they even pakat to suckle together, face to face, play, giggle and laugh while suckle from my poor boobs. If the first one let goes of my poor overly-dry dangling boob, he will ask another to “tutup baju” also. But if the other half refuse, one will get very *boh-kam-wan* and continue suckle for comfort at his side until there is no ending for me :(

The KL Babywearing members decided to meet up on the 17th October 2009 in conjunction of the IBW 09.  We choosed The Curve as our meet up venue, hoping to avoid the crowd in 1Utama.

Gathering with some babywearing mummies

It is indeed great to see many young mummies nowadays are wearing their babies and toddlers. I just hope there will be more Chinese mummies will come out to show support to babywearing in public.

Posing for a group photo at the fountain at the end of the Weekend Flea Market

Initially we planned to walk over to Ikea Cafe but to our surprise, the place is sooo packed on that day! I think the group ended up elsewhere. We then went over to Ikea (boy, it was really hard to find a parking on that day) and got the kids a play tent :)

Everyone fresh in green

Since hubby and I just got a new shirt, we decided to wear green on that day, except qiqi who refuse to be in a theme with us. So she wore a white dress with little red flowers and I told her she looks like Kakak’s (who was wearing red) daughter instead.

We were suppose to attend a neighbour’s open house, but we reached home late. Although I still see many cars around, hubby did not want to go anymore :(

Irresponsible Printer (name not reveal)- edited version

Can you see what’s wrong with the leaflet as shown in the picture?

Instead of printing front and back differently, this headless company actually printed them this way, each 1000pcs  (for my 2000pcs A5 leaflet order). And what made me so *BURNING* and *EXPLODING*mad is that:

  • their staff (was silly of me that I forgotten to ask for her name) was the one advised me for my artwork placing
  • their inexperience or irresponsible staff, Mxxxx is the one who admitted nothing wrong with my artwork prior printing (when I keep calling her to reconfirm as my 6th sense is suspecting something amiss about the placement, she did not even replied my call despite many many times I called in and she was engaged)

When I received the order, I called in and guess what, once again the same personnel, actually admitted she did not see anything wrong about my artwork placement.

Knowing nothing can be done by just talking to their staff who would not admit their own mistake and pay for my reprint, I somehow got the contact number of  the boss of this printing company and called him instead.

To cut story short, he insisted that it is his “company policy” that no free reprint should be done, no matter what. After 30mins of argument, I decided not to waste another second on my handphone bill talking to someone like this. Really heart pain, sigh…luckily I can control my anger well and I do not keep them for long.  Not worth letting these idiot (ok, must be polite right, after all they are still human!) driving me to the grave since I am not properly insured (I know I should upgrade the coverage with the new life insurance quote.

So irresponsible when they keep pushing the fault to my artwork while it was being adviced by their staffs.

Funny thing is he wasn’t very happy on how I got his HP number online. Too bad he doesn’t know what a blogger can do and he got his old info was cached in Google although it has been removed.

So do not be surprise k, if you see Mama Patch leaflets around the town, coming in 2 sheets instead of one. Now you know the original story of how these funny leaflets were produced :(

Update on 14/5/2010:

1. They wrote 2 emails reminder to me to remove this post  otherwise they will file a complaint with MCMC and follow by the legal action. However I do not see any reason why I should, as after all I was only pouring out my anger with their irresponsible manner of handling their customer AT MY OWN SPACE.

2. I owe an explaination to the public on why the Mama Patch product leaflet appear in such a funny way.

3. In fact, I  am still a customer to this company and I have nothing against this company. It was the irresponsible way of their (referring to the name stated above) method of handling customer that make me really pissed off.

4. I have decided to edit my writing if there is any word I used on humanity basis. But I will definitely not taking down this post, as everything written happened in actual. (In fact, I still have the proof of the end product with me and I hope they recorded their tele-conversation with their customer as well to show what actually happened that day.

5. I do not hope to spend another single minute wasting my time dealing with all the nonsense above. If they are smart, they should let the sleeping dog lies. But if they really want to push me to the wall, I shall file a complaint to the tribunal and bring this up again to the media.

Update on 15/5/2010:

I have taken down the real name of the PIC in charge but am leaving the company name here, for record purpose on how my silly leaflet was created.

Anyone saw me in Facebook already knows how *burning and exploding* mad I was a few days back. Anyhow I had a great weekend at the Damai Picnic and I shall share the happy thing first.

Some pics from the picnic. I forgot my camera, but thanks to Faridah’s hubby for helping me to capture some of them.

Me lazying on of the luxury Doof bean bags with my kids towards the end of the picnic

Tell you, these bean bags are so beautiful and so comfy. How nice if I can afford to get a few of these in my house!

More pictures of the picnic here

Really, I did not expect this picnic to be so fun, especially for the kids (how I wish I am a kid again!) There are so many activities arranged for kids

  • fresh cupcake decoration kids can decorate (a small fee for children activities will be charged)
  • arts and crafts for kids
  • story telling

besides yummy BBQ and great talks/demo going around for the adults. Those who have not turned out, you have really miss this one. But if you are into babywearing, we will have another babywearing gathering soon, on this Sunday at Tiny Tapir, Ampang Park.

Cupcakes ain’t cake?

I am so pissed off with him last night that I had to scream at him while having our dinner (if I still have those cupcakes with buttercream, I’ll throw them onto his face!)

Since the day I started to bake a few years back, I have been telling myself that I would one day want to bake for my own children’s birthday, be it a cake or cupcakes. Seeing that cupcakes is in trend now (actually more easy for me to decorate), I decided to go for cupcakes, at least until my piping skill improve.

But from the moment he knew I am gonna bake for them, he keep on asking me, many many times until yesterday, if my cake is going to be presentable, and he told me he prefer getting a “proper cake”  from the shop for her girl’s birthday celebration in school (so that her girl could be proud CUTTING the cake instead of just having cupcakes)

After all the attempts and trials, all the hardwork and sweat (while I leave the boys crying behind) I am really dissappointed :(

It is now either I am going to bake ONLY CUPCAKES for all 3 functions (QQ’s school birthday celeb, boys birthday with family in Kuantan, and Melaka which I plan to buy from my favourite shop) to release my anger, OR he can have to use up all his great saving from the cash drawer, go and order 3 cakes for 3 occasions, apply leave from work so he could personally collect and send his version of “presentable cake” to his girl’s school!

What’s new over at Mama Patch
