After reading so much about this nice Japanese restaurant at The Garden, we decided to visit Yuzu.  I planned to order the Kobe Beef for hubby to try since I wish to treat hubby on this expensive meal but to my surprise the slice beef is priced at Rm150 for only 100g , not Rm88 as I read from some blogs :(

Knowing that it will surely turn tasteless for hubby at such price, hence I picked Wagyu beef (read lots of good review on these beef cubes) but to my dismay they were out of stock too. We ended up with something more expensive than the Wagyu beefs (forgot what these longer cubes were named), but was again dissappointed that hubby said the beefs were tasteless. Probably is because that his set is expensive (I forgot what name but it is RM60), thus the beef became tasteless for him, hahaha!

I ordered this set (RM40 which contains sushi roll with Unagi, clear mushroom soup cooking on Washi paper, salad, cawan mushi and tiny slices of appertiser and fruits). For me, I feel it is pretty expensive.

QQ only had 2 sushi rolls since she love Unagi a lot. But there are lots of small bones, hubby has to pick them out until there is not much left for QQ.

Although the place is classy, it isn’t a good place for us to go as my boys were screaming (Kakak had to carry the crying and cranky korkor in and out of the restaurant) and almost run down the place. Poor diners who were there on that evening as they cannot have a peaceful dinner. Luckily Didi is willing to sit down towards the end of our dinner, munching the cucumbers from our salad and took some porridge with my cawanmushi.

Boy, what a tiring and stress dining for all of us.  Although I have been wanting to go to the Japanese Buffet at Umai-ya, I don’t think the boys can wait for our re-order food to arrive at our table.

Unless the restaurant has something to entertain my very very active boys like the above, otherwise there will be no way both hubby and I can dine in peace. Sigh….

Eating in Melaka

Eating in Melaka is great and we love going back for food. Of course we will not go to famous places with lots of tourist with crazy crowds queing on the middle of the road (pic here on our national paper), under the hot sun standing in the middle of the road, waiting for a table during weekends and public holiday. If we want to dine at such places, hubby will take leave on weekday where you can see the shop owners actually sitting there chasing flies waiting for people to come.

Dim Sum at Tengkera (corner shop, same row with the famous Satay Celup)

We usually have heavy breakfasts in Melaka. Having dim sum in Melaka is very much cheaper as compare to what we have here (although they have increase the price a lot over the years). Our favourite place for the best “Tai Pau” is at the Ban Hong Xiang Tea House at Gajah Berang (also another crazy place with crazy crowds where we have to help ourselves snatching the steaming hot Big Pau once they are out from the kitchen to the steaming bamboo tray, but hubby prefers this one at Tengkera (forgot name of the show) with less crowd and easier parking.

We were lucky that the kids were fast asleep on the 2nd night. Guess where hubby and I sneak out to while the maid keep on eye on them in the room (with my parents at home)?

The Portugis Square

Hubby and I took a stroll to the Portugis Settlement, which is only a very short walking distance away. I was so surprise that there are so much changes made to the Portugis Settlement with so many new stalls selling seafood facing a very beautiful sea facing walkway and a modern jetty (replacing the broken wooden jetty where I used to play with my friends).

Butter Garlic Baked Scallop (bottom) Tepung Goreng Sotong (Top)

Sorry for the lousy pictures (I forgot to bring out my camera) and also missing scallops (which already ended in our stomach). Price of the seafood here is a little bit higher than those fishing village in Serkam, Muara Sg.Duyong and Crystal Bay.

  • 100g Fish Rm4
  • 100g Squid Rm3
  • 100g Scallop Rm7

When our food arrived, it is almost 12 midnight. By then almost all food were sold and yet there are so many people coming over to take their heavy dinner (with rice some more!).

De’strawberry affair

It is now a mild rainy season, with frequent cool breezy mornings and windy nights. The sky was dark despite early evening, and it made me considered 1st time..2nd time..3rd time…. should I take a good stroll to the Pasar Malam (night market) yesterday night. Finally I grabbed my bag and zoom out for I know what I wanted to buy.

This is what I got! A pack of fresh little red juicy strawberries arranged neatly, sitting in a pack waiting to have an affair with its buyers. Besides these I got some nicely pack fresh veggies too from this same stall, the only one stall that sells such nice delicacy in the most affordable price that one can find.

A neat pack like this, inclusive of a little cup of honey to go with fruits only costed me RM6 and it think it is fairly cheap!

**Just popped 3 of these honey coated little red babies into my mouth while I was writing on this….
