Toilet paper in our soup?

15.03.10 / Child's Play, Parenting, maid / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (7)

I wonder how the hell it got into there, in between the chinese cabbage?

As we decided to have a simple dinner at home last night, I washed the anchovies, took out the meatballs, peeled some Chinese cabbage, piece by piece. Leaving them in the kitchen, I then asked Kakak to rinse them before cooking them.

As I was busy with the boys, I asked QQ to eat first and she had a bowl of soup before I joined her. After the boys were done, I sat down and scoop some cabbage from the soup. Ewwww….. I bit something weird so I took them out from my mouth to check. Guess what I found, a lump of toilet paper!!!  And there is even more in the soup, in between some cabbage!!

Hubby became suspicious so starts to question the maid. She said, she did not know how it got into the soup. You say la, how weird right? As I am the one who peel out the cabbage piece by piece, and she is the one who cooks it, now she said she don’t know how it got in there!

Hubby was mad and even mad when he saw me sitting there so calm. He said I was as if being cast be a spell.

I was suspicious too, and once hubby went away, only I start to question the maid. Not wanting her scold her bad, in case she put something else in future to get back to us, I strictly explained my concern about her work performance and I am disappointed because this is not suppose to happen. I asked her back if she is will feel suspicious if she is the one preparing everything and yet she found a tissue in her soup that I have cook for her. I told her she had to proof herself for not doing by finishing the whole portion of the soup (so no dishes for her last night as she had mee hoon soup cook with the whole pot of soup)

Yesterday I caught her mouth filled with our new fresh bought grapes while serving the boys fruits. She is smart she tried not to chew in front of me, so I asked her what’s in her FULL BUT NOT MOVING MOUTH. She said grapes fell onto the floor. Stupid fella, fine, I wonder what else she did when I am not around. And this morning she made me mad again when I catch her doing some lazy job (pouring instead of scouping fried shallot oil properly from the jar). No wonder my kitchen top is always oily here and there.

See, no matter how nice you treat a maid, be her friend, she still gives you SHIT in the end! Can’t wait for my kids to grow up quick and kick this ungrateful species out of my house!

How to renew Kakak

09.03.10 / Child's Play, Chin Nee, Parenting, best & good, maid, remember me / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (4)

Time flies and it is now time to renew our “tai fan shu” Kakak again.

I am glad that she is willing to stay for another year without going back for holiday (ok, I do tempt her with some bonus in exchange for this to keep her happy although she did not ask for anything) . I am also glad that she is the ambitious type  so she plans to work for many years before “retiring”. Of course I also put a lot of effort to do brainwashing, encouragement and “dream building” with her from time to time!

Our Kakak when she arrives

I still remember our horrible experiences when we first have this live-in helper that comes from another part of the world, how she steals the forbidden home food (I thinks she still does that sometimes due to curiosity), how hubby found her sleeping on our sofa in the morning instead of cleaning the house (welln she still sleeps in her work occasionally), how she vomited inside hubby’s new MPV (thank God she grew out of motion sickness) and bla..bla..bla..

Overall, I must say that she improves a tremendously and I can be simply contented by just closing one eye. At least now she knows what she should be doing and I no longer need to give her instructions on her routine job.( I am ok although moping is not done daily, fans and lights only wipe once a year and curtains change twice a year as long as she keeps the boys away from me when I need to work). I treasure this extra pair of hands to manage some simple daily chores and I hope to keep her as long as I can (I don’t expect to see more from her and to me, it will be just good enough as long as she maintains her performance as of today)

When to renew her passport (expiring in April 2011) ?

Although her passport is expiring in April 2011, I was told by my agent that I should renew her passport now. There must be a year of lead time before her passport expire when we renew her visa/permit, I was told. To renew her work permit, Fomema, and such, my agent told me that will cost about Rm7xx, including Rm100 charged by agent to do the work (but some said it is Rm1250 now including the fee for the extra course attended that we have to attend with the helper?)

Now the problem lies in renewing her passport.I was advised by many to bring her to the Indonesia Embassy to renew the passport. But when I google and saw this from Leena’s blog, *wa-lau-eh*, it really freaks me out man! My agent also told me that now they are made to sign an acknowledge letter of their minimum salary of Rm600 (which is a big jump from her current salary!).

Not only that, I was just told by a friend that our maid will be interviewed at the embassy during renewal (to check their condition with employee kua..) and also we need to attend a half day course with the maid (thanks to our si-beh smart punya minister punya idea!).

After some consideration (of having my fussy hubby taking her to queue and becoming sardine one whole day under those zinc roof, leaving me behind with 3 monsters at home), I think I better let the agent handle this. Fee charged is Rm480 (pretty expensive eh?)

So, by not having to sign any letter now, or does that still mean that we have to bring her to the course and adjust her salary? sigh…I just promised her some bonus prior this and now a big jump in salary?

Anyone just renew their Kakak’s passport can share? *scratch head* sigh…Si-beh confuse now!

The floor rolling *species*

05.02.10 / Parenting, Twins, maid / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (10)

I can’t believe that I actually have one of such species (you know, those kids crying, rolling and kicking flat on the floor when they get mad for not getting something they want).

My younger twin, Didi not only cry, but he actually S.C.R.E.A.M on top of his lung with his whistle sharp pitch. It really makes my ear painful especially when I carry him on my chest. So instead of trying to sooth him (he will cry even louder), I’ll just leave him on the floor to cry out as long as he wants which usually last for about an hour. How torture heh? If any of you knows how to deal with a kid like that, pls…PLZ…give me some tips, k.

Thank God his elder brother, Korkor is a more sensible boy and knows that Mummy/Didi are better to be left alone when they are real mad. At least he will go to Kakak straight away in such scary situation for comfort.

Another good news to share is that Kakak is not going back this year. Not only she agreed to extend her work with us, I managed t0 seek her pity that I can’t be left alone with the twins. I even managed to bribe convince her that it will be more worth for her to keep the extra $$$ in exchange for an return air ticket to her country. Good that she loves money a lot.

Unhygienic Kakak

It happens again, and she thought no one was seeing her.

Hubby usually leaves home at 7am and I only wake up at 7.30am. This morning I woked up early and peeped her from my room window. Usually she would take out the rubbish from house to throw at that hour. Hubby is a very fussy person, and she is required to wash her hand outside the house after touching the bin before she comes into the house and touches anything else. So this morning (and also other morning, I suppose), she just casually comes in (without even bother to wash her hands), go straight to the washing machine and took out the clean clothes out to hang!

She was so shocked when I came down immediately from my room and confronted her. Tell me lies here and there, “ini tangan kena, ini tak kena” and all sorts of stupid lie until she herself also confuse. Sigh..she has been working with us almost 2 years and we are going to renew her this coming May.

Like how Mama Pumpkin posted on her blog, well I know they are still human. I have already try closing on eye all the time, seeing that she is taking care of the kids well. Not that I am fussy or what, but why does she wanna take short cut in all her job and do things sneakily behind us? Sigh….Kakak ….oi….Kakak!!!

The maid vomits again

11.01.09 / Hubby, maid / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (21)

This time is worst, she vomitted in the car without a plastic!!!!!

Initially when our maid arrived, she did vomit a few times, but not so bad. Then after quite sometime (about 6 months taking the anti-nausea pills each time we go out), her condition during car travel was quite fine. We even let her eat or snack in the car with us especially when we are travelling long distance.

Unfortunately not yesterday, not after her McD meal. She pukes all over herself and not even in time to reach for a plastic! (We suspect that she actually forgotten to eat the anti-nausea pills and told us lie). Thank God Kor-kor was asleep in his car seat beside her, otherwise I would not imagine how “geli” my poor baby would look like (as she usually carries him).

So, you can imagine how ANGRY my hubby was! Upon reaching Atria (where QQ is supposed to collect her new specs), we all went to a nearby shop and bought a cheapest T-shirt and pants, of course on her own expenses.

Instead of getting mad at her (I was surprise I wasn’t, and not even a bit), I really pity her. We learn our lesson and I guess, she did too! A really great loss for her. From now on, she would not be able to share and enjoy our fancy food when we dine out, but instead eating only plain food first at home (or pack herself some plain sandwich from home). Poor poor fella!

Twins @ 4 months +

Last weekend, we were back to hubby’s hometown for my late MIL’s prayer. Luckily this time the boys are more manageable in car as they sleep most of the time in their car seats.

I suspect it is not the “Anti-Mabuk” Pills that make Kakak sleepy. It is her laziness that makes her sleepy as I saw her almost dozing off a few times while taking care of the babies during day time. No need to take care of the babies and get to sleep soundly whole night still not enough sleep? Sigh…..

Anyway I am not going to talk about her, but our trip. Luckily the boys are still at a blur-blur stage so they would allow anyone to carry them. Di-di is smarter as he recognise face, but slowly, he got better with everyone (so I can escape and rest!)

Di-di carried by Kakak

Kor-kor sleep soundly on the sofa

I am looking forward to our next trip back to Melaka for the very first time :)

Lucky her

If YOU (I think you know you are) think that I am mistreating my maid, Halo, I can tell you she is real lucky to work in our house. She only do simple cleaning 3 hours a day daily like ensuring the floor is clean, laundry done (using washing machine) before the babies wake up in the morning. Only when the babies are taking their nap, only she

  • helps me prepare the food (we even take turns to cook as both of us love cooking),
  • fold the clothes
  • plays with QQ

Unlike living in other home, she DOES NOT even have to:

  • Clean the windows (we hardly open it anyway)
  • Wash the cars (hubby washes himself)
  • Climb up to wipe the fans and so (hubby afraid she breaks things at home)

After taking her bath and from as early as 8am, she get to SIT DOWN in front of the TV with me and my children until night when they goes to bed. Well, 2 reasons why I do not allow her to do other housework, especially cleaning is because:

  • For hygienic reason, I want her to stay clean whole day since she is helping me with the babies
  • So that I could go online while she plays with them, or sit beside my babies, patting them back to sleep when they move

In fact, after the few incidents, we still sit down and chat like friends (mind you, I do not restrict or place her in the kitchen or her room). We sit down in the living hall, we chat about family, we laugh and joke all the time. All I am asking is that she do not do things behind my back, THAT’S ALL. There is never once I say NO to her, just if she ask permission.

And if YOU think that sleeping on your employer’s couch is OK, (If you are under employment) I think you ought to do that to your employer too? Do you sleep in your Director’s couch? Do you ask to sit in a room or the same nice chair like your superior does at work? (And if you are a self employed), HALO, do you let your employee sleep during working hours, sprawl himself or herself right in front in your office or shop as they ilke?

Well, I do let her rest or take a nap in her room, only ON her bed when she is not feeling well at times. I even offer her to nap when she did not get enough sleep (once when she waked up to help me in the middle of the night). She does not even have to help taking care of the babies at night!

Even as a friend or sibling, you still ask permission when you wanna take their things right? As a Buddhist, I know exactly what I am doing, and of course, as I do not wish to be reborn as a maid too, in my next life. I believe she has got a very fair and kind treatment for me, and I asking to be respected here too, as an employer.

Ah yes, not forgetting we let her eat in peace when we dine outside too, while my and hubby carrying the carrying babies, trying to soothe them walking here and there like mad people!

Habit of stealing

28.11.08 / maid / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (25)

I really don’t know what to do with this stupid woman anymore. So many times I have told her, that if she wants to eat something that I have not given to her, she MUST ask my permission. This morning I found out that she quietly ate my cake, which was put on my table before I woke up. And yet, she lied to me that my hubby ate it this morning.

In the past I have told her, MANY MANY TIMES, that she can ask from me, if she wants anything. In fact, for the past 6 months, I have NEVER ONCE say No to her. Even if she did not ask, I will still allocate things that we buy to eat at home (at her station), if it is something not too expensive. In the past incident, she promised me that she will not lie again, and yet, she did it again this morning!

So, what do you think I’ll do to her? Make her skip her lunch? Hmm…I do not want her to fall sick otherwise no one will help me to take care of my babies if she is sick from empty stomach. Perhaps I can just ask her to eat plain porridge (our lunch today) without any side dish? Grrrrr……I think get a term life insurance quote since I might age faster with all these nonsense.

Dental treatment for maid

05.11.08 / maid / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (34)

A week ago, my maid complained on tooth pain. Since she told me she has not been to a dental before, can you imagine how bad and horrible her teeth condition is (as her breathe stinks too!). Told hubby we must bring her to visit a dentist at least to clean her teeth.

Know what was the dentist finding at the clinic? Gosh, she has one rotten tooth that has to be extracted and 4 other teeth with very bad holes that has to be filled. All her gums are fulled with plaque!

*Yukkss**

The doctor even charged us special fee, RM120 for cleaning her teeth (I think she overcharged :( ), and another Rm80 for the extraction of her rotten tooth. Since total is already RM200, we just had to leave the teeth with holes for the time being.

**beh tahan the expensive bill liao**

Expensive isn’t it? Like it or not, we have to fork the money out to do it for her. Otherwise it will be hell living for us and worst till, our the poor babies to smell her foul breathe and smelly rotten tooth.

**shudder**

Our indoor thief strikes again

29.10.08 / maid / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (29)

Recently our oranges, persimmons and even banana has been dissappearing quick fast from shelves. At first hubby thought I was the one eating them where I thought it was hubby.

This morning hubby was shocked to find the maid sleeping soundly on our living hall sofa when he woke up. As we calculate the fruits last night (to check if she is really stealing), 3 bananas and one persimmons went missing too this morning.

When confronted her, she said she wasn’t feeling well therefore she fell asleep, BUT ON MY SOFA, on QQ’s pillow! When asked her how many banana she took, she said 1, asked again, she said 2 and finally 3!

It is ok if she eats but we really hate it when she lies. Asked her why she lie, she said she forgot how many she ate. Now it begins to make sense how come our dinner dishes portion such as fried chicken wings and fishballs became so small. No wonder I saw part of chicken wings went missing after they were fried.

It was not the seller who gave me less, but it is the thief in my house who has eaten them while she cook! If she dare to steal fruits, she may dare to steal expensive things and money too. My hubby is worried about her throwing out his UGG Mayfaire boots to people of her race outside the fence. So please teach me, how to deal with a maid like her??

Lucky her!

29.10.08 / best & good, maid / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (2)

She was lucky that it was not me who found her sleeping soundly on my sofa. Otherwise I shall ended up messing with the Waco Personal Injury Attorney. I know I should control my temper and keep an eye close as she is here to take care of the babies. Who knows what she will do to the babies when they are out of sight. This is a risk that I know I should not take. All I have to do is just to be patient, for another 18 months until the boys are old enough to play by themselves.

My maid almost burn my house!

28.10.08 / maid / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (30)

Update on our Sunday wedding. Well, QQ totally forgot about it, haha!! Instead we went nearby to do some shopping. Since it was still early and the boys were still sleeping, I got the maid to prepare the vegetables and boil ikan bilis soup out in my wet kitchen for dinner.

Guess what happened? She left the boiling soup on fire and forgot to switch it off! When we got back, my new Zebra Stainless Steel pot is totally BLACK and the fire was still on the stove! Thank goodness my bathroom faucets is still shinning bright!

Thank goodness we only went out for a few hours. Really cannot imagine if the whole thing exploded and my house got burn!

I was so mad as we just bought the new pot a week ago. After several rubbing, the pot base is still black now. I think I shall cut her pay if she cannot get the stain off the pot by tonight!

**fuming mad**

Sick maid vs. healthy baby

23.10.08 / Chin Nee, Parenting, Twins, maid / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (16)

Thanks to information from Mumsgather, yes, the allergy that I am currently having is called Hives. I notice it grows at night and subside during the day time. I feel like a weresolf!

This morning, my 2 monsters woke up to play at 4am. The patches came out all over again and I was scratching all over my body in itchiness, while having to breastfeed them one by one back to sleep. It is really torturing! Luckily hubby is there to help entertain one baby, while I try to soothe another.

On the other hand, my maid is also sick. But since we need an extra pair of hand, I still need her to help me with one of the baby. This morning, her mouth was so smelly and I told her not to open her mouth when she is with the babies. Now only Baby Zhen alone is well at home. I am so afraid our virus will pass on to him.

Like me too, she has been taking medication for almost 3 weeks. Sigh….

Any tips from parents who have to rely on their maid to babysit there baby when they are working?

Sleeping with Kakak for a night

21.10.08 / Then (Twin 2), Twins, maid / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (8)

It has been the 3rd day. Baby Then’s fever is under control and he looks better too. But there is still blood in his mucus which I am worry about. Have not seen a little babies who has mucus as bad as this.

I am grateful that at least my hubby is around. He is supposed to attend a training oversea, but somehow, he did not have to. After one sleepless night for both of us (where we have to take turns carrying him to sleep), we left Baby Then sleep in the warmer living room on the 2nd night, accompany by Kakak. At least he could sleep better in the “sarong”. I had better sleep too, although I have to run up and down to feed both of them.

Oh yes, this fella is very naughty. He screams and spits out all the medication although I squirt it very slowly into the side of his mouth. Any good tip to help me feed this naughty little baby?

She lies AGAIN!

13.10.08 / maid / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (24)

I hate it when I have to pour out my dissatisfaction on my maid here, as if I am polluting my blog :(

I catch her lying A LOT of time, most of the time about cleaning. Each time I asked her if she got clean the table top, does she mop under the bed, she would say YES even though I already knew she did not (the dust is so obvious as if one month not touched!). Same goes for my hubby’s Dansko boots.

As I understand she has got a lot to do, and I DID TOLD HER that it IS OK if the forgot to do it at times when she is busy, as long as she DO NOT LIE to me. But this stupid lady kept on repeating the same lie, AGAIN and AGAIN, LYING over the same thing each time I asked her.

Really cannot understand why must she behave such a way. Really *kek Sim* !!!! Any tip how to deal with this?
