Rabbit Farm at Broga, Semenyih

Since our plan to the Sg.Klah Hot Spring was canceled, we might as well utilize our free time to bring the kids somewhere near. Thanks to Kah Hui’s suggestion, we went to the Rabbit Farm at Broga, Semenyih today. Not only it is super cheap, it’s good enough for little kids.

We started off by having some breakfast nearby, and reached Broga, Semenyih before 11am. Luckily the weather is good, so at least its not too hot for such outing. Entrance fee is Rm5/person and kids below 2 enter for free.

We first saw some monkeys tied with chain. We saw some girls playing and feeding with the monkeys too with those free food given to us for feeding rabbit. But they look naughty,  so we dare not go near them. How come no picture of the little monkeys? Low battery mah, nothing much special to take. I need to save the battery for rest since we see many wild monkeys often in front of our house.

The ponies are running around wild and they are very friendly. If you are not afraid of them, you can pat them. The horse in the stable can be ride, with a fee of Rm5 only but QQ dare not ride on it.

Instead of the over eaten rabbits, these little lambs were overly friendly as they come chasing after us for food. QQ and Didi was so scared and they cling hard to us.

Only Korkor dare to touch them….

Korkor feeding the lambs with the rabbit food, hahaha…wonder if they will turn into a rabbit by eating those ah?

Most of the rabbits are so old and BIG. It is not easy to get near to them as they run super fast when we get near to them. Finally a little girl got hold of a BIG ONE!

Overall this is a good place for little kids to go, as it is not too big or exhausted to walk around for them. Just enough animals for them to see (there are also beautiful reindeers, tortise and some other animals at the other end which hubby did not wanna go over as there are droppings all over the place)

Besides some rabbits running loose around in a compound, there are many cages of where they keep rabbits too. Not only the rabbits are for play, there is a canteen that sell everything that cooks with rabbit meat. They offer dishes like Satay Rabbit and Dried Rabbit Meat (Rabbit Bak Kua!).

I was wondering if all the rabbits there are being reared for their meat? I cannot imagine how the rabbits are being slaughtered. Is it also throat cutting, blood draining and then throw into the hot scaling water too, like how chicken is slaughtered?

So sorry that such a nice post with have such an ending here. I simply just don’t have the heart to taste such beautiful and sweet creatives like the pictures above after patting them there :( Can you?

Mr Potato Heads and many toys

I received a surprise sms from QQ’s former kindergarten teacher, Mrs Wong a few days back. She mentioned that she have got some fun toys to pass down to my kids. Because we have so much junk at home (and not wanting to pick up the toys everyday for the kids), I politely declined and say no thank you to her.

Mrs Wong again insisted that I should go and take a look at what she has got. So I drove over one morning, and did my FOC  green shopping. Guess what, all her toys are AWESOME!!

Mr Potato Head and friends (Playskool Mr. Potato Head Spud Buds) and some Heavy Equipments Trucks

Aren’t they cute? I fell in love the Potato Head immediately and it reminds me of the Toy Story 3 we have just watched very recently. The fun part is, the faces, hats, limbs and shoes can be dismantle so that the kids can mix match the combination by sticking them to the body (I have got a Potato, a Carrot and a Corn!)

There is a very nice Forklift (where it’s fork level can be adjusted)  and a Excavator (which can be dismantle and combine with other parts like the tower crane, changing wheels to the chain and so).

As hubby is now attached to heavy equipment related job, we have wanted to find these simple heavy equipment toys for the boys, but they are extremely costly so we did not get any for them. They have enough of their sister’s cooking junk to play, anyway.

Besides these, there is also a good tunnel (to be assembled in a creative way), educational wooden doll, and swimming gears too. Will take picture on those and update here soon.

Aren’t the boys so blessed? Not only the toys benefit the boys, even my big buffalo QQ is fighting over them.

We probably get something that is so valuable without knowing the price of the toys. Thank you so much again, to Mrs Wong for your kindness.

A *Hair-Standing* Night

26.08.10 / Family, Parenting / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (11)

Two days back we celebrated the 7th Chinese Lunar Month (Hungry Ghost Month), by making a small offering outside our house. According to some old people, it is good to do that, to make offering and pray for some peace in our area, especially we have kids at home. We have not done that before, so it was our first time.

Since it was still very bright (at around 7pm), we brought the kids out to see hubby lighting up the candles, putting the incense and burn some paper money. I remember I love doing this at my grandparent’s place (some more can stand outside alone in the dark lighting up all the blown off flame candles), not knowing what the actual meaning was.

At that night around 12.30am, when everyone was asleep, I was still typing here, planning to stay up late to check out some discount coupons for my girl’s school bag, and finish reading posts by my friends blogs. Out of sudden, one of the toy car suddenly came alive and started to **SINGS**.

Feeling something is not right, I began to get angry and warn “IT” to just leave me alone. Few seconds later, I suddenly feel *Goosebumps* all over with a tinge of cold air. Without wasting a second more, I *FLEA* all the way up to my room!

It must be made at me and had followed me up to the room. Hubby sensed something disturbing too and could not sleep well.

After shortly I fell asleep, Korkor started waking up to *SCREAMMMM*. You know, my boys were able to sleep through the whole night after they were weaned from me. With that type of body arching and scream, I knew immediately something is wrong. He kept on saying that he wanted to go downstairs to play, and I was too afraid to bring him (or its not him????), I woke hubby and he took over Korkor.

This happened repeatedly for 5 TIMES that night at the interval of every hour / 2 hour (hubby said that but I did not even dare to check the clock) and hubby had to carry him, open the room door to show him it was dark downstairs, walking around the room until he slowly falls back to sleep.

By morning, Korkor was already so worn out and his face was really pale. I got very worried and then my neighbour asked me to pray again that night to apologise to the wandering spirit and ask my son to come back, WITHOUT BRINGING THE KIDS OUT! Gosh….I totally forgotten that they still see things at this age and their soul must have wandered off with them. Shouldn’t have brought them out earlier, sigh….

I also put a container of 5 slices of garlic + 25 slices of tumerics in my room, as advised by a friend. We slept very well last night, thank GOD!

Similar experience shared  by others:

  1. Kakak reported getting goosebumps all over while ironing shirts last night followed by another toy playing by its own too, then followed by hearing sounds of our wooden door squeaking open at 3pm.
  2. Elaine shared that her kids were cranky, house door half opened when she was so sure that her maid has closed it before sleep.
  3. Another friend, CL said one toy that was already low battery suddenly came to life and start moving and singing in the middle of the same particular night too.

Freaky eh!!! Do you experience any similar incident too, especially this month?

Funny title for some graduation pictures though!

I wish to dedicate this post to my SIL, a single mother who went through so much to bringing up her 3 girls, by herself. She went through the most difficult moment when her hubby passed away at young age, 3 weeks before she gave birth to her 3rd daughter. I can’t imagine the traumatic moment that she had been through at that stage.

Although her mum was just a few doors away (late MIL helped her to take care of her 3 girls while she was away at work), bringing up 3 girls is surely not easy. I married hubby when her girls are at teenage and saw some struggle episodes she been through. Although all her 3 girls were very obedient, cries, fights over jealousy obviously cannot be avoid at such age.  She surely was a very tough woman to go through all those hard and cold years by herself, probably could only cry inside  on many occasions, without a ear to listen or a shoulder to cry one.

However those are all passed and now SIL is blessed with 3 grown up girls. So girls, its time to pay back ya!

Her eldest has just finished chambering and will soon become an official lawyer. And now my 2 younger nieces, have just graduated and will soon go into workforce.

Proud SIL with her 3 single handed brought up girls

My QQ is so chubby right?

Our simple photography sessions ended up with all of us gobbling lots of ice-cream before leaving.

Photoshoot was done at Bkt Jalil Park. Although the weather was beautiful that evening, it was very humid and hot too.

Allergy Test by Dr Wong

Since we planned to go back to Melaka last weekend to pray to Grandpa (his 100th day), I took the opportunity to down to Tangkak as well to test my skin allergy (have been getting extremely ITCHY  little red bumps on my fingers like this..)

allergy04

Picture downloaded from Google (http://www.skincell.org/community/index.php?topic=24808.msg307884)

Recommended by Elaine,  I went to visit Dr Wong (Klinik Specialist Wong) at Tangkak to see how he can test what I am allergy to. Dr Wong does allergy test using the “Applied Kinesiology”.

What is Applied Kinesiology?
This procedure employs testing of muscle strength to assess food sensitivities. It is a way to tune in to the body’s energy system. A food that reacts in the body will generally cause a muscle to go weak. The test is performed either by having the person eat a food and then test the muscle, or they hold a suspected food in their hand, and the test is done. Kinesiology in the hands of a skilled practitioner can be very accurate, fast and inexpensive, bearing in mind that sensitivities can change over time.

(Source: http://www.drlwilson.com/articles/food_intolerance.htm)

How he test:

  1. Patient will hold test tub (of possible allergens) on HAND A while stretching out HAND B.
  2. To test on kid, the kid will have to hold the test tub, while parents hold on to the kid and doctor will test on parent’s resistance.
  3. Doctor Wong will lightly push down HAND B to check if we can resist. If can, meaning patient is allergy to that particular allergen.
  4. This repeat with many test tubs available there, to test other allergens as well.
  5. Once allergy is confirmed, he will perform again the same test to test the patient allergy level too

How to cure allergy:

Patient will be given a small bottle of pure saline (with energy transfered from the level allergen tested earlier). Patient have to take just a drop saline once in morning and once before sleep).

My Skin Allergy and QQ’s Nose Allergy

Guess what I am allergy to? It is the 5 spice powder (Em Heong Fun in cantonese). Can’t believe it!!

And seeing so, I had QQ tested as well as she has very bad sinus. And she is allergy to MOULD (and it’s the most difficult to avoid since it is air borne from damp area like bathroom, our aircon).

Can see the little bottle labeled “Clasp-11″? It is the Pure saline drop QQ has to take each morning and night. QQ’s allergy resistant towards Mould (Cladosporium) has been identified at level 11. <”0″ least allergy -”20″ very allergy>

After the saline was physically energized (WAH……pls do not ask me to explain how ok. I know the more I try to explain, I’ll sound more insane.), QQ was immediately given a drop of this saline on her tongue. And I see immediate result as I was able to resist Dr Wong’s push while holding on to QQ.

Putting my small itchy finger matter aside, I put high hope to cure QQ’s sensitive nose.

Pre-School Reading help

Due to my laziness, QQ is still not as good in her study like most children at age 6. She gets ZERO during BM Ejaan and Chinese Ding Xie beginning of this year. No English spelling yet until now. But well, its all past. Hence, it’s time to do something now, one by one and we have got 6 full m0nths to go, before she goes to Std 1 in Primary school next year.

English

I notice that the books her school using (Sunshine Books) is not very effective for my slow learner. Therefore I started her on Peter and Jane a few months back, starting from the lowest level. QQ now completes Level 3 (although a friend of hers can already read up to Level 5!). Ok, not comparing (BUT I JUST CAN”T HELP IT!!!!), but at least I am glad to see her enjoying reading English now compare to previous.

Peter and Jane Series (Rm9.90 per book)
Where to buy: Popular (10% off for members, and sometimes 20% during sales)

Chinese

I speak very fluent Mandarin, but you will be surprise I cannot read a single word. Not even my own kids’ names. Chinese is the most helpless subject for me as I cannot understand to guide her on her homework. Again, the books used in her school isn’t effective enough for a slow learner like her.

Many good friends in Facebook (even her school teacher!)  recommended the Odotana Pre-school Series (I understand that many pre-school are using this) and I must say the books are FANTASTIC in teaching Mandarin. Even I learned a lot Chinese words recognition from the Odonata Series.

Odonata Series consist of Reading Books (word recogniti0n), CD, Story Book, CD Game, Flash Card
Where to buy: It’s cheapest at their website

Chinese Strokes /Pinyin: http://www.nciku.com/ (I use this whenever I need to guide QQ on her school Chinese Writing)

How it works

Peter and Jane and Odonata shares the same method, repetition. From the lowest level, the page introduce a new word and it slowly goes into a short phrase, then sentences. Each time you flip the book, you will see lots of words repetition PLUS A NEW WORD (stated below). For Chinese, there is also guide on stroke writing. So its all REPEAT and REPEAT, simple right?

For the Odonata Series, I did not buy the complete set. Just the reading books and some stories, level by level. I do not want to buy the revision book, as I do not wish to test QQ this way (Glenn Doman is totally against testing the kid, remember?) Kids hate homework, hate test and since they will be tortured badly in our education system later anyway, why not spare them at home? I feel that it is good enough to cultivate reading and she will recognise the words slowly by reading.

Oh yes, I also bought the CD GAME and it is very interesting! Tell you, if the kids cannot recognise the words, she won’t be able to play it. That’s what I want, FUN LEARNING!!!!

Appreciate if you could share some links to online games your kids are enjoying (pre-school level) if you think it can helps QQ to improve. Also, I need recommendation on BM books to brush up her BM, please.

p/s:   I was very surprise when Hui Sia told me that pre-school kids in China is not being tested in preschool. Eh, we are talking about CHINA ler! The most competitive community in the world and yet they spare their young kids, how surprising right? And yet in Malaysia, we are torturing our little ones, at such young age (if you have read the recent change, for eg. Entry school at Age 4, LINUS for primary kids, heavy bags with tonnes of home work, bla..bla..bla…and ALL KIND OF NUTS!!

Mini Sports Day

It was Mini Sports Day at QQ’s pre-school last Saturday. Although a very simple one, I think the way of organizing was really fun and meaningful in introducing the kids to all different kinds of sports. All the games are pretty simple, for instant, where the kid will have to

  • learn using the racket to hit the shutter cock into the many square bins (badminton)
  • kick the football into cupboard-made holes (football)
  • hit the ping pong ball with the ping pong paddle into any of the many cups arranged on the table (ping pong)
  • roll the balls on the floor to hit down the bottles (bowling)
  • throw basketball into net (basketball)

Each kid were given a recycle handmade paper bag and they have to visit class by class to participate on the games to win and collect as many little gifts (pencil, eraser, pin, etc..)  as they can with their paper bag. There were also team activities for parent and kid so the above is what we won, HOORAY!

June is a fun month for us. It is either a birthday celebration at home, or fun time out for everyone.

During the first week of the school holiday, my neighbourhood friends and I enrolled our preschoolers into a holiday program, at a nearby preschool. Unlike previous sessions done, they have lots of outing this time. On the first day, the teachers brought them to a Fruit Farm. On the 5th day, they organised a picnic and all parents are invited to join along.

Hence, hubby took leave, so we could bring the boys along.

We reached there at about 9.30am. Surprisingly the whole place were so shady. We were so amazed with the fantastic playground there, seriously! There are so many sections and the playground is really HUGE. If you have kids age 5 and above, it is really worth visiting to this park as the climb up and down playground is even BIGGER than any of those in 1Utama or Mid Valley Megakidz!

Also, there are a few suspension bridges and a good cycling track. Best part of it, everything is situated just at the entrance so you can actually leave everything in your car and fetch it only when you need it.

Boys on simple tunnel slide

Korkor’s hand looks tired from holding the food! This park is really a great picnic place as there are many seats and table around. I would say amenities here is the best as compare to many parks in Klang Valley. Even their public toilet (20sen per entry) is clean and nice.

QQ with her friend, Audrey. QQ was incredibly timid as she dare not climb up anywhere :(

With their father around, they were either confined to the seat or being held closely (too many red ants la….too dangerous la…bla..bla…bla…). Besides simple swing and see-saw which is suitable for little kids their age, they can only an sit there to watch people play instead of wandering around (too dangerous as the playground is too huge).

We went off early and proceed to Mid Valley as I wanted to check out the Thomas Wooden Railway series at Choo Choo Train, The Garden. It was an extremely tiring day, but fun for everyone.

p/s: Check out what I finally got for the boys for their coming birthday soon….Also, posting soon, where QQ got her birthday present real LATE and she’s REAL MAD too…

Finally on Saturday 3pm,  5/6/2010

  • Food : Curry chicken, fried mee hoon, Hokkien Popiah, Cheesy cocktails, Fishballs, Fried Tauhu, Red Eggs
  • Dessert: Tab-Tim-Krob (the biggest hit. Too bad I forgot to take a picture of the dish!)

As if knowing that there would be a party in that afternoon, the boys napped less than an hour. Both of them woke up while we were half way done in the kitchen. And worse part of all, they were extremely cranky due to less sleep, so I had to carry one on my hand all time...GRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!

See me behind carrying Korkor and being kepit by Didi ? I did not manage to participate much in the kids activities or take better pictures during the party :(

While waiting for all to arrive, the girls did some simple coloring first. Then they proceed to do the first craft, their own princess crown. Since everything was prepared earlier (see materials needed), steps are pretty simple as we have everything pre-cut for the girls, thanks to help to the Mummies (as I did not manage to get them all done upfront due to the last minute printing).

Since it is still early and I guess everyone just had lunch, we proceed to make the Crystal Princess Bracelets (info of the materials needed and where I got them). Initially I thought it would be difficult for the little girls to do the beads arrangement and threading, but I was surprised that each girls manage to thread on their own. Bravo PRINCESSES!

Audrey, QQ and Iris showing off their handmade PRINCESS Crystal Bracelets

7 princesses (plus 2 body guards) waiting to sing the birthday song. Just realized that we forgot to take a family picture with QQ!

QQ’s birthday cake - A 1kg Strawberry Shortcake (from a nearby baker) with my own customized Diamond Castle Edible Image (refer to this post on how you can have your favourite edible image for your cake delivered to your doorstep)

After the cake cutting, the girls proceed to play some games on their own. I like having the girls around. It is really fun seeing the girls behaving nicely instead of jumping here and there like the boys do.  At about 5pm, the guests are getting ready to leave. So they requested QQ to open up the presents.

We also packed some small gifts for lucky draw so everyone gets a party pack home.

After the party, we still have so much leftover on the food so I got to call another 2 friends and their family to come over for a simple dinner that night to help us finish off the food :)

QQ with her presents. Although it was a very small party at home (as planned and friends invited exactly to her wish), it was really a very tiring but fun day for QQ.

Grandpa passed away (Part 2)

19.05.10 / Family / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (4)

(……continue from Part 1)

When I was about to start the car fetching QQ to school on Tuesday morning, my handphone rang. It was my mum and I immediately sense something not right. Mum told me that Grandpa has passed away that morning. I wanted to go home, right away.

Since hubby was already at work, I sent QQ to school anyway and went to clinic to get some pills for my painful heals. I even brought Korkor to the playgroup (Didi was not feeling well) since there were still plenty of time before hubby arrives home.

We reached Melaka and reached the funeral parlour around 8pm. It was quite as everyone was so loss and did not know what to do. No chanting has been arranged yet on the first night, except some visits from friends and close relatives.

Unlike traditional funeral, it wasn’t really a tired one as family members did not have to be at the funeral parlour for 24 hours a day. Instead everyone took turns to be there during day time, so the rest get to go home to rest. I wish I could stayed longer to accompany Grandpa, but the boys and QQ wasn’t feeling well as it was especially hot although the weather wasn’t sunny. And because their nap time got all messed up, they even napped late till after dinner so we did not get to reach on time and dine together with the rest of the family at the funeral parlour. Hubby and Kakak even skipped dinner a few nights during the wake.

On the 3rd and 4th night, simple chanting and prayers were conducted by the nearby Buddhist Society. Grandpa was placed at the funeral parlour in Bukit Cina for 4 nights and was taken care by an uncle.

On the 5th day, 15 May 2010 (Saturday), we all reached there by 11am, to prepare for our last prayer to Grandpa.  At about 1pm, the monk arrive to lead the prayer and all relatives and friends took turns to pay their last respect.

At 2pm, Grandpa  leave funeral parlor and was brought to Melaka Memorial Park for cremation.  I feel deeply regretted as I did not make it in time to reach and witness as Grandpa entered the cremation chamber :”(

On Sunday 9am morning, we all once went to the Melaka Memorial Park again. Each one take turns to pick a piece of bone from the cremated remains, and put them into Grandpa’s urn (while the rest was grinded into ashes?)

Father who is the eldest was given the honour to carry Grandpa’s Urn, while my brother took over the car and drove him to the Seck Kia Eenh Temple. Grandpa was safetly placed on the 2nd floor of the temple, by 11am on Sunday morning, after a chanting done by a monk.

Rest in peace, Ah Kong, we shall all miss you a lot!

(Pics still in brother’s camera. Hope to get them soon and keep them as memory on my blog)

Grandpa passed away (Part 1)

13.05.10 / Family, Tags / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (28)

(today marked the 3rd day of Grandpa’s funeral, in Melaka)

When I was young and taken care by Grandma, I was very close to my Grandpa. He always buy me little gifts to play when he comes home cycling back from work in the evening. At times I got balloons wrapped in newspaper, sometimes Pilot lead for my mechanical pencil, and sometimes simple kuih-muih which I love to eat. He even made me kites and windmills from the newspaper and my Grandma’s lidi broom. (It’s weird as I don’t remember having such fun moment with my father!)

I heard from my grandmother and father that they (he and his 2 brothers) were very afraid of him when they were younger. Everyone described him as a very stern and no-nonsense father. But with me, he becomes completely a different person. Perhaps he has no daughter of his own, so he treated me, his first grandchild like one?

Grandpa never stop learning. As I grow up and went to school, he read a lot of my English grammer books. I remembered him asking me new words, on how to speak and how to use them. He was working as an account clerk. Even though he had retired, he still go to work (more of spending time out with his friends), doing simple account for an association, up to age 89.

As his knees were getting weaker, he could not cycling anymore in this very busy traffic. Father and 3rd uncle had to send and pick him up daily to work, as he just refuse to sit at home quietly.

On last Sunday, 9 May 2010 4pm (Mother’s Day), was the last day of his life. Father reached Grandpa’s work place at 4pm evening, to pick Grandpa back from work. It was raining and the steps from the association was slippery. He slipped on the 2nd step while coming down the stairs, and hit hard on the back of his head right in front of my father’s eyes.

As he was bleeding profusely, father sent him to a nearby clinic but the doctor found that only light bruise and no stitches were needed. Instead he was sent home but he was still bleeding, according to my aunt.

Back home, he then started to act weird. He flipped the calender, as if looking at the date, then scooped a bowl of rice. Instead of eating, he walked away. Sensing something amiss, 3rd aunt asked him to sit down again and eat and he finished his bowl of steaming hot rice extremely quickly. They saw he became dizzy and walked to and fro in the house. The kids (my little cousins) even saw him banging his head against the wall. Perhaps he could not stand the pain in his head? But like usual, he did not complain a word.

Sensing something not right, 3rd uncle rushed him to the hospital. A CT scan was done and it was found that there was a blood clot on the back of his head. His blood pressure were very high too. Doctor could not perform a surgery as he was too old. Instead, doctor had to inject him, to put him to sleep as he was struggling very hard, kept on scratching his bleeding wound on his head.

In the wee morning of 11th May, he passed away in the hospital peacefully, with no one besides him, after father and uncle left at 2am something visiting him.

Have you seen Woohoo?

It is the funny movie, done by Astro during Chinese New Year 2010. Every day, Didi ask us put on the DVD himself and watch from morning till night! They watch and watch every day until Korkor also can recite some of the very funny phrases from that movie now.

Wooden deck where the salted fish is dried in Woohoo

Since we went back to Kuantan during Cheng Beng, hubby took us to visit the fishing village, Besrah, where the movie was filmed. It is a very small fishing village, and there isn’t much to see actually. The kids were so excited as they recognise some venue filmed, and even Kakak could recognise the house that was filmed in that movie!

The little hut where the crying kids sat on top in the movie

Hubby took 2 extra days so we could stay longer there this time back since we seldom go back there now. In fact, I love Kuantan beach so much that I even tempted to celebrate the boys’ birthday there this year (wonder if there will be any guess attendance???)

Korkor sitting on his cheap-plak car seat before falling asleep

While Didi was at the back on his royal car seat next to Kakak

while QQ has to sit in front coz both rows behind was too packed

Can see how we use our ring slings to shed the children from direct sunlight inside the car? Pretty useful eh…

Shingles (or “Snake blister”)

Thanks for kind friends who called me for the suggestion to “Snake” treatment for my mum. I also found out from Martini that the “snake blister” condition is medically referred as Shingles (also called Herpes Zoster). It is is caused by a virus called the Varicella zoster virus (VZV) and is in the Herpes family of viruses. However it is not the same as the herpes viruses that causes genital herpes or herpes simplex.

Shingles normally affect people who had chicken pox but did not heal properly and people over age of 55, or weaken immune system is at higher risk (no wonder my mum gets it). Although it can heal fast with early treatment, however it is very hard to judge if you are having Shingles at early stage (especially when the blister is not clearly shown on the skin surface yet). My mum’s case was dragged till almost a month and I read that the most common complication of shingles is postherpetic neuralgia where it can cause nerve pain (that’s what she is complaining right now).

Since CNY is coming, I hope she could get well soon, no matter using the Western medication or the traditional way. Sigh…my poor Mama…she must be so sad and down now :(

Call me a fussy mother

I definitely cannot operate pre school, if all parents out there behave so fussy like most of us do, hehe…

At end of year 3, I began my search for my favourite pre school. I found Sri Soka at Cheras and love this “kid’s university” tremendously! Unfortunately I was heavily pregnant then and will not be able to transport my girl to and fro school daily.

Then QQ was then enrolled into a nearby small Montesori preschool but unfortunately QQ does not like one teacher there. (Take note preschool operators, you need to have sweet smiling teachers who also know how to sweet talk to attract parents).

Finally she goes to another established preschool which is also situated nearby. QQ was given a week of trial and I took the opportunity to “monitor the teachers in every class like a hawk“.  Finally I found the “suitable teacher” and inform the school that I want QQ to be in her class. And off she went, being pulled out from the car on her first official school day by her class teacher while I just driving away immediately crying myself in the car. Surprisingly she did fine and got settle down very quickly.

Mummy’s search for the “right teacher” continues when she got into year 5 and now year 6. See how fussy and horrible parents like me can be! Wonder if most parents out there are just the same like me?

Thanks for notification from my chat pal, Molly, I got to know about this family day organised by Nuffnang. A few hours before the closing, I send in my blog entry and am very happy that our family got the invite too to Kidsports (also the first time for the boys since it is so expensive to go to Kidsports nowadays….)

Instead of 9 something, the boys woke up extremely early this morning at 6 something and I thought…NOOOO!!!! as they were going to ruin our outing schedule.True enough, they got cranky and went back to sleep by 9pm :( Since there was nothing hubby and I could do but sneaked out the house for breakfast for a while.

Since they were still so soundly asleep and we were already running late late (the function starts at 10am), we woke them all up by 10aam. Thanks to the busy traffic, we only manage to reach 1U by 11.30am. The boys really had a great time playing in the pool of balls.

Since it was very noisy outside (older kids were playing bursting balloons), we went into baby’s play room and the boys continue to play there. Unfortunately Korkor tripped over while running and hit on his nose until it bleeds…(hahaha…my clumsy boys, as usual…)

Soon after that, they were calling out for lunch and all parents brought their kids to be seated. Each kid was served with a plate of spagetthi, a fat cheese bun, a slice of very sweet banana cake, fruit salad and a pack of orange juice. Very nice heh…but I see lots of food wastage as most kids were too young to finish their big serving. To avoid wastage, I think most parents gobbled down their kids unfinished food to prevent wastage, (yes, GOBBLED everything as quick as possible down the throat as most of us had to start chasing our impatient-and-eager-to-play kids). On top of that, there was also food for the adults too (I can’t remember what was there as I was too busy with the kids).

Isn’t it feel so good when we see familiar faces? It’s Cynthia and her princess Breanna!

And another pretty mummy blogger, Merryn whom I met for the first time. Besides them, Molly, Moon and Ling were also there. So great that we finally met! Isn’t it wonderful to attend such event?

Luckily not all my children born shy….*phiew*.  At least I can see that my boys are much more outgoing as compare to their “always-hide-inside-shell” sister.  When everyone gathered for the magic show performance, and while waiting, I can just get them out to join dancing games in front of many eyes. They even got 2 bottles of Dutch Lady yogurt drink each me and their sister :)

Although they did not win, at least they dare to walk forward to stranger, unlike my girl. Thanks to Nuffnang and Friso, I wish there will be more of such event for us parents and kids. As parents, not only we get to catch up and share about everything (from blogging to parenting) with other parents, and what’s best, our kids get to play and exercise their little limbs! Kidsports is such a good venue to hold such event.

By 2pm, they announced the Grand Price (family a trip to Disneyland Hong Kong) to the best blog post and it was won by http://mombloggersplanet.com/. Congratulations!

By 2.30pm, the event ended. Each family were given a gift pack comprise of a big tin of Friso Milk Powder, a towel, a row of yogurt frink and some writing pads. Shiok eh?
