Everyday schedule is so busy for me. By the end of the say, there is always so many outstanding issues that needed to be attend and seems that the list is getting longer and longer as days go by. We are also suppose to check out the gold investment thing with the United States Gold Bureau in order to make comparison to the gold investment we can do here through Public Bank. I really hope we can decide this as soon as possible before the price goes up even higher. We have missed the opportunity of not investing earlier on and I do not hope to lose out more on the depreciation value of our hard earned money.

“It is not about how smart how a child can be, but more to the attitude and character building from young”
I have always been wanting to send QQ to the Dhamma school at the Buddhist society where I used to conducted Playgroup. But because intake is extremely limited, the school can only accept kids from 7 years onwards.
When Sheryl told me that Di Zi Gui classes for little children are available nearby my place on every Sunday morning (organised by the Amitabha Lian Chi Buddhist Society KL), my friends and I quickly signed up our kids early this year. You can also call it a Buddhist version Sunday Morning school, something like what we have in church. You see, we get volunteers to “train” our children to respect us (parents) for free, books both children and parents also FREE, so how bad can that be right?
My understanding of Di Zi Gui - adapts a lot of the Confucian ideals, filial piety (Chinese: 孝; pinyin: xiào) virtues. Filial Piety is focus a lot in the class, for instant respect for the parents and ancestors. Di Zi Gui is also learn by all Chinese primary school children in their Moral Subject. *paiseh*, (I can’t read Chinese, pls correct me if I am wrong)
Although I cannot read Chinese, I had to attend with QQ anyway (it is a must for parents to be committed to attend and learn as well) when she was accepted early this month since parent attendance is compulsory. Children are divided into classes according to age group. I am really fascinated with the proper class room (nice air con laminated wooden floor with projectors and such) they prepared for the children, not to mention the time and commitment spend by the facilitators for the sake of making our children a better person in life.
As I could not stay to see what the children do in the class, I was told by another parent that they do activities like reading, watching videos of the world, do story telling and role play (that’s what I like!) and such in the class. It is just like a fun interactive workshop for kids!
Where to get the Di Zi Gui Books / CD
You can get the books and CD (cartoon) distributed free by some Buddhist Society. Just check and ask around people from the Buddist Society that you know and they will help you get one (but make sure you only take when you really want it). Otherwise your child will have a copy too (in different printing) when she/he goes to the Standard One Chinese Primary School.

Did you notice that the price of property has been rising up a lot especially in the past few years? Unfortunately not our buying power ya…Our university fresh graduate still get the same level salary as 10 years back. Serious!!!! I wonder if our future generation can really make a good living in future, with their low buying power, especially with everything is already so expensive now.
No doubt property investment yield the most among all the investment. However to afford one is really a big problem for many of us, what’s more buying another for investment. I think that I can only afford to buy gold coins for investment at this moment. Hopefully it will double or triple up quick enough so that I can get enough money to start on property investment.

Again, I fought for my independent days during the weekend to attend the Sony Alpha NEX Workshop in Federal KL organised by Sony. Its FREE anyway, so I don’t see any reason I should skip it After all, I have spent so much for a small little camera and I think it would be stupid to skip something which I would love to attend so much. But then, someone again is not very happy at home (and you might be able to guess what’s happening at home by now, which I won’t bother to elaborate anymore this time).
Important notes of photography I have learnt:
Composition Guide of A Picture:
- Rule of Third
- Median/Triangle
- Reflection
- Leading Line
- Silhouette
Important Elements in a Good Picture
- Texture
- Light / Contrast
- Color
- Shapes
- Emotion
Day 1: Pictures taken by Edward (my brother)

Old Red Trishaw by the Pool at Federal Hotel, KL (Entry Category: Shapes)

Day Pub at Federal Hotel (Entry Category: Color of Reflection)

Antique Wardrobe at Federal Hotel (Entry Category: Color)
After some briefing on camera functions, and simple photography guides, we were given an hour to go out to capture some shots for contest. As he was holding my camera for the first week after I bought it, so I let him capture the contest shots, hopping that he might win something for me. Unfortunately, he did not get anything at each category. The gifts were nothing that great anyway !*consoling myself*
Day 2: Pictures taken by ME
Floors of Low Yat (Entry Category: Shapes) - my Winning Submission!!
I finally brave myself to take charge of my camera and try my best to do what I can with it. Hey!! I won the first category among more than 30 participants in there. Ahem…not bad for some first timer hor….???

Red Chocolate Bouquet (Entry Category: Colors)
-nah…Wesley (our trainer) said it is good, but the other girl won this category of Best of the Colors with her candy shot.

QQ with her Marshmellow (Entry Category: Emotion) MY ANOTHER Winning Submission!!
See the benefits of bringing along a little model? Ya…I had to bring her for some reason, as she was disturbing her brothers on the previous day, so I though by bringing her, it would spare our “black face man” at home some trouble and complain (Nah…he did not complain, he prefers to stay BLACK for the past 2 days instead).
And I managed to win 2 out of 3 category, LOL!!!!
Reason of winning was not because my shot is good. As it was just too hard for beginners like us to steal the expression from the public, as many turned away when they see our camera.

On going seminar (taken in the low light condition using the Twilight Function)
So, I won 2 out of 3 Category for the contest, and I got myself a Cassette Walkman and a set of mini speaker. Nothing to show off, as the prizes were way too low below my expectation (I wanted something like u know extra battery, lens, camera bag and such!)

One of My Prizes is this little Pink Portable Sony Speaker
Anyhow, it was really a good exposure to some yellow face SI-LAI like me who has just started PHOTOGRAPHY!

Anyone keeping gold coins out there? I remember seeing my mother having a few nice looking BIG ones, with the head of Queen of England. Wonder if she has purposely bought the coins for investment or just for keepsake?
Although keeping gold coins is not very common for us, I think it could still make a very good investment by keeping these precious metal we the world supply for the metals is very low now. Furthermore gold does not depreciate over the years like the cash in our saving account. Our older generation are definitely smarter since tend to keep more gold than we do now.

I am surprise to learn that many has started to make an investment in gold bullion. I have just came to learn about the gold investment through PBB from a friend a few years back, but hardly hear about people talking about it since then. And since the value of the gold has increase a lot, my friends said they are making really good money. Obviously better than keeping cash, that is for sure!
Since the price is already so sky high now, I wonder if it is still the best time to invest or to wait awhile until the price fluctuate again.

I have known Jackie (another SAHM since 2 years back) for some time but we had not had a chance to sit down and really chat. This morning she she baked these little puffs and and I went to her place for nice breakfast. The puffs taste really yummy and Jackie even let me “tapau the rest” back for my kids! Will surely try making this one day as they are very easy to make too (will put that in another post later, as this post is not about the puffs anyway).
Challenging days at home, being a SAHM
We chat about the kids (she has a pair of twins too, but the girls are already in their teen), we talked about education and school (where she shared how she got actively involved in PIBG, hoping to change fate of the kids in Chinese School but unfortunately its not like what she thought, how a mum actually went there daily to wash the toilet for the sake of her schooling kid, and how the pressure system grabbed away her girl’s cheerfulness and she eventually put them into Kebangsaan school instead). We also talked about the kids at home, and she shared about the twins character, how different they are, how they fight, and such. I see the similarity of characters in my twins behaviour in her grown up twins too so I can foresee how my future road will be with mykids.
Oh yes, we talked about hubby too, and I was so relief to hear that we share the same fate too (having the exactly same “species” hubby who are so homely and will not just leave their kids to have honeymoon with their wife, weird eh??)
Although very homely, our men is not willing to take charge or help with the kids while being at home, but will just sit aside to watch or sleep in front of the TV and be happy as long as all the children are in the same roof, with the wife taking charge like a mad woman, yelling madly behind chasing after the kids.
Well, hubby used to say that I’ll be able to go anywhere I want once the kids grown up, but according to Jackie, “Nah..very unlikely” because her girls are already in teens, and yet the husband still prefers the mother to be with the children all time. I think it’s because men like these hardly goes out with their friends, so they think socialize is not really needed and they prefer their women not leave their children behind either. Too bad they married the wrong women, as we are born WILD, frequently screaming deep inside despite being caged at home. LOL!!!
Funny that these men thinks that it is always ONE BIG HAPPY FAMILY as long as they are together ALL TIME!!! Anyone has hubby like that too out there?
Although it was just a short sharing over a cup of coffee, its feels really good to know that at least I am not alone, in this crazy part of the world, being so stuck at home with the kids, and having to stay so far away from friends. Thanks Jackie and thanks a lot to your YUMMY puffs too!

I am getting interested to find out more about the gold investment here. The money value seems to become smaller and smaller due to depreciation of value. And over the past 10 years, I find that our affordability and purchasing power has been diminishing a lot!
If I have invested in gold and resell them now, I think I could have earn a lot already. Now the question is, what is the difference between gold bar and coins? Is it just the different in weight and value? Anyone can give me more info, like what is the minimum investment, returns and such?

United States Gold Bureau is a known as a good place you can purchase silver, gold or other precious metals and coins for investment. They can help you to plan an immediate personal delivery or arrange for convenient and safe storage at an independent bank or depository.
If you have been making money online and have not cash you your USD saving, you may want to consider diversifying your saving by buying some gold from the reputable United States Gold Bureau directly. This is the best option to make good use of your cash instead of bringing them in here and loose out on the currency exchange rate.

Finally on Saturday 3pm, 5/6/2010

- Food : Curry chicken, fried mee hoon, Hokkien Popiah, Cheesy cocktails, Fishballs, Fried Tauhu, Red Eggs
- Dessert: Tab-Tim-Krob (the biggest hit. Too bad I forgot to take a picture of the dish!)
As if knowing that there would be a party in that afternoon, the boys napped less than an hour. Both of them woke up while we were half way done in the kitchen. And worse part of all, they were extremely cranky due to less sleep, so I had to carry one on my hand all time...GRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!

See me behind carrying Korkor and being kepit by Didi ? I did not manage to participate much in the kids activities or take better pictures during the party

While waiting for all to arrive, the girls did some simple coloring first. Then they proceed to do the first craft, their own princess crown. Since everything was prepared earlier (see materials needed), steps are pretty simple as we have everything pre-cut for the girls, thanks to help to the Mummies (as I did not manage to get them all done upfront due to the last minute printing).

Since it is still early and I guess everyone just had lunch, we proceed to make the Crystal Princess Bracelets (info of the materials needed and where I got them). Initially I thought it would be difficult for the little girls to do the beads arrangement and threading, but I was surprised that each girls manage to thread on their own. Bravo PRINCESSES!

Audrey, QQ and Iris showing off their handmade PRINCESS Crystal Bracelets

7 princesses (plus 2 body guards) waiting to sing the birthday song. Just realized that we forgot to take a family picture with QQ!

QQ’s birthday cake - A 1kg Strawberry Shortcake (from a nearby baker) with my own customized Diamond Castle Edible Image (refer to this post on how you can have your favourite edible image for your cake delivered to your doorstep)

After the cake cutting, the girls proceed to play some games on their own. I like having the girls around. It is really fun seeing the girls behaving nicely instead of jumping here and there like the boys do. At about 5pm, the guests are getting ready to leave. So they requested QQ to open up the presents.

We also packed some small gifts for lucky draw so everyone gets a party pack home.
After the party, we still have so much leftover on the food so I got to call another 2 friends and their family to come over for a simple dinner that night to help us finish off the food

QQ with her presents. Although it was a very small party at home (as planned and friends invited exactly to her wish), it was really a very tiring but fun day for QQ.

We haven’t been putting much effort to invest for the sake of our kids. Although we have got some shares, but I doubt it would be a good investment as investing in gold. Although we all know that it is too expensive now to invest in gold as the price as increased too much over the years, but I think buy gold coins would still do a good investment for the kids. At least it is something solid and value would not deplete over the years like our cash in bank. It should do good to help raise our finance in future, I hope.

I have always been very afraid of looking at places with funeral, scared of the coffin, you know, “pantang” what people used to say, that you should not look at funeral when you pass by funeral parlour and things like that.
But when it comes to the funeral of a person we love so dearly, I don’t feel any of such anymore. I go near to my Grandpa’s coffin, bring my children with me to look several times at him, and I love being there at the funeral parlour to accompany my Grandpa.
Some pictures taken during my grandpa’s funeral. I wish to have everything here, capture in my memory, forever.

The wake was held for 5 days, 4 nights at an old funeral parlour in Bukit Cina. Everyone gathered (sadly and with much regret that this only happened during the funeral)

Too young to understand anything, young kids were having a good time to play around the fire

Although it was gloomy and not very hot in Melaka during the funeral week, somehow the weather was extremely stuffy until some kids fell sick

Our last picture with Grandpa. Sigh…we do not even took one when he was still alive!

A pair of red Candles for Grandpa on the altar

Last prayer for Grandpa, lead by the monk

Although there is four generations in Goh’s family, but still with only 3 sons, Grandpa still have a very small family ya… (am now hoping that my 3 kids will bear a lot grandchildren for me, otherwise I’ll have a small family too, during my funeral)

Procession (leaving the funeral parlour at Bukit Cina)

At the Melaka Memorial Park Crematorium Centre, where Grandpa was safely cremated.
I wish there were more, but my brother wasn’t in mood to capture them, especially during prayers at the Cremation center and Temple where Grandpa was placed. And lastly but not least, I found this in my computer….

A picture of me with my Grandparents (probably when I was only 2), and Grandpa was only around age 55 in that picture.
I still miss him a lot :”(

Some say that buying gold is the best way to preserve wealth. A friend of mine made a big investment in getting the gold and she has made a lot through gold investment while her hubby was earning USD overseas. Much, much better than keeping money in the bank for sure as our money depreciates greatly over the years. But gold price has increased so much and I wonder if it is still worth buy gold bullion for keepsake as an investment for our kids now? I should have given attention when the gold price was much lower as investing in gold is definitely easier than investing in shares that need some basic knowledge about investing and market condition. Really regret now.

Tags: weaning tips
I tried several methods to wean the boys.

First Attempt: Applying the super bitter snake leaves juice. Not enough bitter once they get overly desperate. Failed!
Second Attempt: Apply some white vinegar on my teats. Didi is super smart so he suck until the vinegar is gone. Failed!
Recently the boys appetite get really worse and Didi is as thin as “LIDI” now. Both of them no longer eat porridge and do not want rice either. Nor they have any other milk except for suck…SUCK…SUCK… at this milk-less cow all day long! And because of this, I get real S.T.R.E.S.S and very very desperate wanting to wean them off.
Third Attempt……
Hence I tried another method, recommended by Irene (also a mom to a pair of twin boys), that is to use Nipple plaster (you can get this from Triumph/Wacoal - very pricey adhesive to invert and stick nipple into breast so you can go bra-less without having your perky nipples shown when you wear bare-backs.
Result: It works ! The boys hate the sight of it (they feel really geli!!) as I told them the doctor had to plaster mummy’s nen-nen coz it’s hurt. So each time they come near, snuggling at my chest, I will show them and they run away. I only had to plaster myself first 3 days and now they have totally forgotten about their addiction.
So do you think I still breastfeed them?
Oh, yes, I still do. I miss them a lot. In order not to let them know, I only feed them in the middle of the night after they fall asleep (must only do when they are in unconscious state). Didi still wakes up (drowsy state) once or twice to nurse. Last night, Korkor managed to slept from night till morning without any feeding. I hope they stop waking up in the middle of the night soon, so all of us could have a better sleep, FINALLY!!!!!!!

A friend of mine recently introduce me the way to detox with Amway supplement by using the formula below:
Ingredients:
- fiber - 5 tablets
- calcium magnesium- 9 tablets
- Bio C Plus - 10 tablets
- B Complex - 5-10 tablets
- One lemon
How to do: slice lemon and pop everything into a big tumbler. Let the tablets dilute and add more water. Total water to drink for a day should be 3 litter (too bad I only manage to drink about 2L). Detox should be done continuously 7 days, each month.
Verdict: Today is my 3rd day, and I don’t really like the funny taste. Therefore I added 2 big spoonful of honey to make them taste better. Urine color is more yellowish than usual (sign of detox eh?)
My mum said there are other alternative to do detox too. Make fruit juice? Nah…I am too lazy to do that everyday. Perhaps you can also check out with what’s available at the home medical supplies online for available detox program.
