Blessed with assignments

22.03.10 / All about Blog, Just info / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (4)

It is time to finish all my assignments and I am still happily sitting here to type at past 12 midnight. Am really happy that I got the most assignments to do this month from this specific advertiser. Although I am not getting really much as compare to famous bloggers out there, but at least with some extra income here and there, I can at least dare to indulge a bit more on self pamper, for instant, my weekly slimming massage (although I still can’t see much difference as I still eat a lot!).

Ok, another 3 more to go (sorry if you have to read so many postings today), I better finish them quick and sleep soon before I get dark circles on my eyes tomorrow!

DeMoments is up again!

Finally, I can breathe!

I think so it our poor friend, Chooi Peng! From the first day I decided to use WP, I never had an easy life with it. First time I got a stranger helping me to set up this humble blog of mine. Then I kacau Papajoneh to do the auto upgrade for me.

And now, since I am having my blogs hosted seperately, it is best (and cheaper) to combine into one hosting. I should have migrated this blog from another host when I signed up with Exa during their sale promotion (which accepts Addon Domains). I just did not have the courage to do so last year, afraid that I might lost everything when migration is being done. How true it is, if I am the one who do the migration this time. So instead of having me doing it (initially was guided by CP), eventually it was ALL done solely by Chooi Peng (guess she just could not stand talking IT to someone like me anymore). I must admit that she has been a great teacher, guiding me here and there, but I guess I am just too lousy to understand how this whole madness works.

I really owe you this time, Chooi Peng sifu! Thanks a lot to you…..

Transfer of domain and hosting

12.03.09 / All about Blog, remember me / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (0)

I have been blogging for almost full three years. Next month I will have to renew my domain and hosting package for this blog again. It is indeed very expensive (and troublesome too!) to own and manage my own blog.

When I started out this blog, I faced so many obstacle in setting it up. I am very lucky that an online friend help out doing everything from scratch. From then on, I had to depend on friends that I know online to help me out whenever I face any problem with this blog setting. A year later, I signed up another 2 domains. This time I am smart enough to sign up with another company for hosting they have everything automatically done for their clients with just a simple click. In another words, I am having double hosting, and since this is going to expire soon, I will need to transfer all my blog content and database to the new hosting.

With the help of CP, I tried a few days ago to do some of the transfer. I am surprise that it takes so much effort to Managed File Transfer from one place to another. There is still so much to do, and luckily CP is always there to assist by providing support online.

I almost die of heart attack

As my other 2 blogs, decuisine.net and dejourney.net is hosted at Hostican, I decided to move it back here so that access to the site is faster. Although my hosting (that comes together with free domain) has not expired, I decided to sign up with exabyte earlier due to the promotion it is having.

Guess what an IT idiot like me has done? Due to obtaining the EPP code for domain transfer, I was given to sign a cancellation form from Hostican. Mana tau, upon signing it, they cancel my hosting immediately without even letting me to backup and transfer all my database.

*Puff*…I lost everything from my 2 blogs, all database gone into the thin air. Although I wrote several emails to them for temporary access to my previous hosting company, but they said everything is deleted when I signed the cancellation form! (I almost tripped over my cat and ended up with a Plantar Fasciitis!)

So, CP advice me to quickly copy paste all my past postings from my feed while they are still in google. Thank goodness I subscribed to Google Reader and managed to retrieved all postings from dejourney.net. But somehow, all postings from another blog, decuisine.net was not in my feed.

Thanks again to this smart lady, who then again taught me how to cache manually, page by page (cache:http://decuisine.net/?paged=3) from google. When it failed, she pulak taught me how to cache month by month (cache:http://decuisine.net/?m=200807).

Now I have saved everything in Ms.Word so I will need to set up again these 2 blogs from scratch, and then copy paste all posting in again, one by one. Although there is a lot to be done, nevertheless, I am really grateful that at all postings are still with me.

Thanks a lot, CP, you are really my life saver!

De’moments of 2007

Can’t believe my last post here was on the 31st Dec and it has been 5 days since then. Passing from 2007 to 2008, there is a lot of thoughts that came into my mind, sweet and bitter, all that happens in 2007.

These is what happened in 1st Half, 2007.

1. We held a simple open house for close friends and neighbours to welcome the 2007 Chinese New Year.

2. It was again an honour to be invited to the Mead Johnson’s Parenting Circle (KL Hilton).

3. Playgroup of Sg.Long Buddhist Society was born and the kids learned their Puja well.

4. Seriously started indulging in baking/cooking activities and starts blogging!

5. Qiqi went to the Genting and stayed in hotel for the first time.

6. Decided to sell our old car and get the new Dodge Charger accessory for our new car soon.

Followed by what happened in 2nd Half, 2007.

6. I think we held the most parties at home this year and I even cooked up a feast for QQ’s birthday.

7. if you haven’t experience going on a water lift, then you should head to The Mines for a good cruise experience.

8. QQ had a good chance to attend 2 playgroup (one in Sg.Long, and one in PJ) but due to the distance, we left the playgroup after only 3 weeks joining it.

9. Blogging took me to another level when I was given a chance to go on air in the local TV (TV3) with some of my blogging friends for a short interview.

10. After so much effort setting up playgroup and enrolled her into music classes, QQ still had trouble going to school without me. Some of our experience seeking for pre-school.

11. We almost ended our 2007 with a dampen Christmas mood where she got very high fever for the first time in her life.

12. And not forgetting about updating a little about myself. Yes, a miracle happened to me after I miscarriage with my 2nd pregnancy. I got pregnant again, shortly after 2 weeks, and this time, WE GOT TWIN!

What do you think of my new header in my craft (also “chapalang=nonsense”) blog, Chinneeq? Take a peek and feel free to comment how I can improve the site.

I am so happy I learn another kind of scrap, with those cartoon graphics, thanks to the lead from Anggie. It is nothing so difficult compare to the normal scrap, and it is sure fun to see this happy pictures which can anytime brightened my day.

With the new Adobe CS3 I have got, I am hoping to learn the animation as soon as possible. Unfortunately, the CD I got from Melaka has got some problem and I can’t my my CS3 running on my computer. Only get to replace it when I go back Melaka, and this time (according to Miche) the Melaka bloggers are going to the famous Medan Ikan Bakar in Duyong! Coming soon…..wait for me yeah!!!!!!!

Al Rajhi Bank WORKS!!

03.11.07 / All about Blog, Blog Tech / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (23)

For all who concern if the money transfer from PayPal to Al Rajhi Bank works, yes, it WORKS !!!!! After much doubt and thanks write up from Steven and Yinsi who managed to convince me that transfer to Al Rajhi, I finally did my transfer a week later after I open my account.

Fund transfered from PayPal: 26 Oct 2007 (Friday)
Fund received in my Al Rajhi account: 29 Oct 2007 (Monday)

Although the rate is a bit on the low side, I am really surprise it took only one working day to reach SAFELY into my savings account. I only found out about this a moment ago when Eva buzz me to check on it.

Personal or Premier PayPal??

31.10.07 / All about Blog, Blog Tech / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (10)

I was all these while using only Personal Account to accept money, but for Personal Account. I am wondering if I should upgrade it to Premier Account based on the difference of both accounts:

Personal Account

  • Accept credit or debit card funded payments to a LIMIT OF 5 TRANSACTION ONLY per year with 5.4% plus $0.30 USD.
  • Accept the following funded payments for free. (PayPal Balance,PayPal Instant Transfer,PayPal eCheck)

Premier Account

  • Accept UNLIMITED credit or debit card funded payments with only up to USD to 3.4% + $0.30 USD
  • Will be charged up to 3.4% + $0.30 USD for accept the following funded payments for free. (PayPal Balance,PayPal Instant Transfer,PayPal eCheck)

Wonder which should I choose? Anyone can explain what does PayPal Balance ,PayPal Instant Transfer and PayPal echeck mean?

What a Fruitful Bloggers Meet

29.10.07 / All about Blog, Blog Tech, Child's Play, Chin Nee, Daddies, Melaka, QQ / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (26)

I have always wanted to meet some of the blogger friends who has extended so much help during my blogging journey, and this time in Melaka, I had a chance to do so. Even though there are only 4 of us, we could really chat for hours, from topics ranging from kids, education, and our exciting blogging journey.

Some of the very useful tips that I guess some of you might like to know:
1. Do you know that there are many mums who are currently homeschooling their children with lots of support by an online support group?

2. Do you know you can withdraw money from your Singapore bank account here in Malaysia ATM (such as Maybank & Public bank) for FOC?

3. Do you know what a day withdrawal limit is RM5k from our ATM, with each time limit withdrawal of RM1.5k?

4. Do you know that we are able to open a Singapore bank account here from UOB Bank?

5. Do you know that users of Blogger.com can actually check their blog site meter from Mozilla Firefox browser? Get your SEO for Firefox Extension.

6. Do you know that we can actually use coupon codes to buy our hosting package and domain with just a fraction of price (which cames along with unlimited domain!)

6. And a lot more which I couldn’t think of at the moment…

(Source: fantastic bloggers like Miche, Leah and Jesslyn so now you know who’s blog to visit to get the answer)

Wasn’t it a fruitful meet up after all? Also not forgetting to thank to the fathers who go round chasing and entertained the kids for almost 3 hours while mummies busy catching up with each other :)

Privatise your blogspot with your own domain

26.10.07 / All about Blog, Blog Tech / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (4)

Announcement!!!
Hey, just wanna announce De’Cuisine has been transferred to its own domain! Tell me what you see in the URL when u click on http://de-cuisine.blogspot.com!

See la, how “cleber” I am now…. All these while, I din even realised that we can have our own domain with FREE hosting on blogspot. Instead having to pay hundreds of ringgit, we CAN maintain our blogspot account by just transferring our blogspot URL to our own domain. I just did that with De’Cuisine!!! Thanks to Leah for informing me:)

How to do that?
1. Buy a domain (I bought mine from Netfirms with only $5.95)
2. Forward from blogspot to your new domain

But I must tell you the procedure was very tough for me as I really cannot understand technical terms on the instruction given. If you plan to use netfirms, just see and copy from the picture how I set my control panel. Thank goodness to the patient from the help I received from Leah and Netfirms support team (I think they almost vomit blood talking to me also), I able to pull through after almost one week. If you want to do it easily, you might wanna try godaddy as blogspot provide full instruction how to do it.

Gratitude from Demoments

Thanks at lot for all wishes. I am really flushing blushing red with all the compliments pouring into this Ah Soh yellow face lady and my little star behind the blog. I see lots of great friends taking the pain to catch the show, waiting to show their kids “there, this is QQ”, and some even patiently stood in front of the TV capturing our once in a lifetime, glory moment with their cameras, or their video recorder. Thanks all, it really touches me how our community stay so united in this difficult (it is for me) but fantastic blogging journey. Although I have not receive the video from Sony (still waiting to be edited, thanks to my ex-colleagues who all stood by for this show), I hereby would like to extend my thanks to people behind the posting of these clips and write-up.

Live on TV3 Wanita Hari Ini

23.10.07 / All about Blog, Aspiration, Blog Tech, Chin Nee / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (37)

Look at how these superstars tumble down the place today! They are on the sofa of the live TV3, “Wanita Hari Ini” airing room. And guess what, these kids are really funny when the show is going on. Every mummy brought a helper along. I was only with QQ and thank goodness, QQ was very busy with the Congkak on the table that she could play quietly while staying with me through the show. Hubby even missed out the show and regretted for not tagging along!

Yes, four of some plain looking mums (ONLY when compared to the superstars walking in and out la) was hooked on our local TV channel, live!, this afternoon. It was quite an experience for me, thanks to this beautiful stunning mummy who shares the “lubang” (I mean opportunity) with me. This proves that even with a yellow face and body which almost needed some maternity clothes also can be on air, hehe………. (I seriously realise that a slimmer version of me would obviously looks better!).

Al Rajhi Savings Account

19.10.07 / All about Blog, Blog Tech, Chin Nee, Just info / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (15)

Thanks to my source from here and here. I am glad there is a way to get a debit card issued on the spot instead of having to apply at our local “pah pai” banks with so many conditions. Just in case you wanna know, Al Rahji is a Middle East Bank. And the branch I visited in Kajang even macam showroom. With the money, there are so much christmas gift ideas which is popping up in my head now!

Things you might wanna know for Al Rajhi Savings Account:
1. Just with a minimal deposit of Rm20. FOC (no annual fee).
2. Immediate issuance of debit card.
3. Daily maximum withdrawal is up to RM5k! (Aiyo, good lor if I have problem with this)
4. Foreign money transfer into Malaysia = RM10 one time (regardless of any amount)
5. Online balance check and internal transfer is possible (but no online transfer to OTHER bank at the moment)
6. Unlimited withdrawal transaction. (with condition No.3)
7. Withdrawal from other ATM (INCLUDING Maybank) there will be a charge of RM10
8. Oh, yes, no interest rate for savings ya!

For current account, also with debit card
1. Opening account with a minimal of RM500 deposit.
2. Need introducer (signature) from their current account member or 6 months current account statement from any bank that you have.
3. However you need to maintain at least RM1K in the current account to avoid being charged, just like any other current account from other bank.
4. Else, everything the same. Just that you have the benefit of withdrawing through your cheques without having to visit their ATM.

NOTE : I was told that PayPal will freeze our account if we make sudden huge withdrawals with a new card. To be safe go slow with smaller amount first. After all, not worth withdrawing now also as USD rate drops very low, hehe…
