Lantern Making event

During the Mid Autumn Festival, Bao Bei class organized a Lantern Making Event.

Each family were given a lantern frame and we got a little elephant with some red color lantern papers.

*(sorry, no detailed picture to show because I was busy making the lantern and did not bring my camera-pic from friend’s camera..)

It was a great lantern experience for me because I finally understand how lantern like this is made. Pretty easy though, but to get a nice one, one must be really skillful.

Anyway, this is our little elephant. Really not easy to apply paint on it eh…

After all families got their lantern ready, we took a break and had a small makan-makan each family contributed. Have you seen “Ling Kok” (water caltrop - the floating aquatic plant that shapes like a devil horn that is eaten during Mid Autumn)?

  5. nice lantern. Last time during primary I did handmade my lantern. After wrap on the lantern paper, splash some water on and put under the sun. It will become tight and smooth.

  7. A nice experience for the kids. I’ve never had any chance to make a lantern before.

  8. Really nice for your kids to be exposed to all these traditional things - lantern making, DiZiGui, etc. I remember eating ling kok after the Mid-Autumn prayers as a kid, but it’s been such a long time since I last saw them.
