DZG Quotes: “長者先,幼者後”

長者先,幼者後

Zhang zhe xian, you zhe hou
Meaning: The elder person goes first; the junior person goes after

Parenting challenging kids is definitely not easy for stay-at-home impatient mothers like I do. Currently attending the DIZIGUI weekly adult class myself, while QQ attends the children class. Going very much deeper into the understanding of  DIZIGUI  quotes, we find it improves our relationship and also on how we behave towards each other. The books and CDs are great gifts for your friends if you receive any baby shower invitations.

Refer to the quote above, we as parents would usually give the best to our children first while taking whatever is leftover for ourselves. For instant, we would feed our kids first during each meal before having ours.

But if we could practice the above, kids learn to respect the elders better.

For instant, my three kids love fighting over little matters. So now before sleep, instead of fighting over who should drink from the tumbler first, they will automatically wait for me (I am the eldest) to sip first, then follow by QQ, Korkor and Didi.

There was once I was quick and I let Didi drink first instead. Korkor was so unhappy that he kept on reminding me “長者先,幼者後”
that Mummy made a mistake that night. He wasn’t happy because I did not follow rules.

And funny enough last night, before going up to sleep, Didi kept on telling me that he has grown up and how he would now entitle to be “長者” already because he do not want to be the last one for everything. LOL!!!

  1. Sooo cute.. Dizikui is good to teach kids on how to behave, but it’s also a bit too deep. I didn’t go for adult’s class, but just looking at the passages, not hard to comprehend certain phrases.

Eh… so now you can type Chinese and read Chinese already?

  2. hmm.. by hook or by crook i should go too hoh? hmmmmmm…..
