My precious little QQ

Unlike other child, she learns pretty slow. She has a very reserved character and is extremely shy. QQ takes time to mix into a group. Despite learning ballet for more than a year, she still does not mix around nor play with her friends before and after her ballet class. There was once I was late and she cried when she came out from her ballet class, finding that Mummy was not around.

Cry at the age of 7, when Mummy is just a minute late when all girls were still playing happily, can you believe it??

Teacher praised her and said that she has a talent for dancing

I wasn’t sure why she wanna stop. Perhaps she is too tired to rush for ballet after school or she could not enjoy the class because she could not mix in with her friends. I asked her why many many times and she just answered she don’t wanna dance anymore, sigh…

Primary 1

From her shocking exam results in kindergarten and feedbacks by all her kindi teachers, I was very worried when she entered our Chinese Primary school. You know la, all the horror stories of the tiring and tough Chinese School syllabus plus Mummy not able to coach her at all in most of the subjects because everything will be in Chinese language.

Mandarin Mandarin Matematik Science Moral BM BM English
Pemahaman Penulisan Pemahaman Penulisan
Sem 2 90+/100 90+/100 90+/100 74/100 46/60 89.5/100 73.5/100 93/100

But in the recent examination, she really surprised me with her results. Although she did not achieve any 100% for any papers like most of the kids in her class easily did for many papers, but she proved herself on par with average students. With the results shown above, I am truly grateful that my girl is catching up.

To satisfy Mummy’s high expectation, she even took up the challenge by volunteering herself for the inter class story telling competition although she cannot even read that BM story book I bought for her. In the end , she wasn’t not chosen anyway, but I was very touched by her determination and courage.

I am lucky that she is a very easy child as compare to my boys. Whenever I need to stop her, I’ll just have to raise my voice and she mellows down immediately. At the same time, she can be very strong-willed too and not let herself being bullied by others easily.

If we ever have a child again, my girl need not be a shinning star. I would just pray for another girl who would just be as soft and easy like my little QQ. Seriously!

  1. QQ is a good daughter and sister. Keep it up gal.

What a waste to stop dancing since she has a talent in it. How about enrolling her into another dance centre? There are quite a few in Mahkota Cheras.

  2. As long as she grew up healthily, that’s more important :)

Ballet should be fun…maybe she is too tired ? Or maybe the teacher or friends there not friendly to her ? She felt out of place ?

  3. QQ is lucky too, to have you, a good mama who willing to listen to the little one.

  4. Her results look good! I also worry about the high standard in Chinese schools.

  5. her result is good… and yes, no matter how good the score, we prefer a good character and attitude girl… keep it up QQ!

  6. Kudos to QQ! Errrr, you are actually considering #4? Hats off to you :D

  7. Well done to QQ for the improvement! As for ballet, my girl oso stopped after 1 yr. She said it’s too ‘tough’. My guess is after they get to the next level (2nd yr), it’s not so fun anymore. Tougher steps n moves, less fun.

  8. Yeah, she sure make your proud! Congratulation on your girl’s achievement! Yeah, I can see QQ has better posture compares to other kids, though she might be a bit too emotional!

  9. Why not let her try Musikgarten instead? It’s fun and the kids won’t even know that they are actually learning music!

  10. Well done QiQi! And totally agree with you, we need not our children to be a shining star but an easy child!

  11. As long as she has good character and attitude, that is the most important. She looks so angelic in the last photo.

  12. Her result is good… as long as she has good character n personality, it is more important that being top academically with low character…

  13. Hi Chin Nee,
    Well done to QiQi.

I think you just worry her for no reason. Her exam result is good.
    Keep up the good work.

  14. Well done QiQi. Children shine in different areas as everyone is different. She is trying her best and that’s what is important. Not all kids are extroverts. Although harvynna is very active, she prefers to keep to herself. When she attends all those activities, she will be by herself or read her book during breaktime instead of mixing with the others. I just let her be - as long as she is happy and a good attitude is most important

  15. hi Chinnee..QiQi result is very good..congrats her on my behalf…well done!

  16. It was dark when I woke. This is a ray of ssunhine.

  17. Love that last photo of QQ! She looks so relaxed and happy :D

She’s really good in ballet as she’s got the posture and the out-stretched foot so well done! Perhaps your Mum or hubby could gently ask her why she’s decided to stop? Maybe she doesn’t want to tell me for fear that you will worry or get angry leh…

One of my friend’s daughter had a problem in school and wouldn’t tell her mum either but after some gentle questioning by the dad, they found out the problem.
