Labour Day 2011 @ Zoo Melaka

We went back to Melaka since it was a 3 days holiday. This trip back was good because we brought the kids to many places. Places that tourist usually go to, a very hot and crowded place that I would very much like to avoid, for instant, the very much praised Zoo Melaka.

We woke up pretty early that day, but with some *ding dong ding dong* here and there ( you know when you are with the kids), we leave home quite late. Father brought us to a place near Tesco and Central Bus Station for this very famous Roti Canai grilled with wood. Nasi Lemak and Rendang here is fantastic!! But because it was so crowded, we had to wait quite a while.

By the time we reaches Zoo, it was almost 11am already. Still we were lucky because the weather was super gloomy that morning. I do not even remember when was the last time I stepped into this place. Probably during my primary school days?

Set Up of Zoo Melaka

As we just went to Singapore Zoo few months back, I see a lot of similarity in Zoo Melaka’s setup. Although it is still far behind if we were to compare about the cleanliness. At least Zoo Melaka is very shady. Amenity wise, there are plenty toilets every corner in acceptable condition. However one thing lacking is a good eating cafe inside except one A&W stall near to the entrance inside the zoo. Unfortunately queue was really long.

Varieties of Animals

We saw a lot variety of animals in this zoo, but mostly very young ones.  And I don’t know why Melaka has got so many types of cows, buffalo range…Our favourite is the black one in the middle of this above picture. Hubby said it looks like the “Niu Mo Wang”  (Bull Demon King).

Areas to improve

Oh yes, talk about their tram service, it is horribly lousy! We had to carry the boys and queued for almost an hour to wait for the tram, duh!! Obviously they do not have enough trams going to cater the crowd during the public holiday.

Parking at the entrance is very small too. There are many cars parking dangerously everywhere along that busy road (as it is situated along the main road from Melaka Air Keroh Toll) because their small parking lot was full. We were quite lucky as they opened the barrier the moment our car reached there as there were a few cars leaving.

We left at about 3pm and the poor tired out boys (with empty stomach some more) were knocked off the moment we entered our air con car. Overall, it is a very fun trip because the boys could understand the animals they see now, by this age. We are certainly looking forward to go to another place, like Taman Rama-Rama next round.

Fee in Zoo Melaka
Entrance: Rm7 (adult), Rm4 (kid)
