CNY: Feast out to my heart’s content!

I seriously cannot live without having good food in my life! - putting my diet plan on my weight target aside first

Tibits (2 plates - Rm10++)

Now that I am no longer working in office, I miss dining out for special celebration, for instant CNY. I remember I used to go out for Yee Sang at least several times with friends and colleagues especially when CNY is around the corner. But now, I hardly have the chance to enjoy good Lou Sang in restaurants because you see, dishes like this is expensive and when dining with family, we would usually not want to order Yee Sang even if we dine out.

Salmon Yee Sang (Medium - Rm58++)

But when craving sets in, I just had to have it. Then my boss thought I was too pitiful (since he is always out there having good food with his customers), we finally made a last minute booking with Oriental Pavillion at Jaya 33, PJ, and feasted to my heart content since we both have not been celebrating our Valentine’s Day ever since we had the boys :)

-thanks to all my FB friends who recommended such a good dining place for Yee Sang (also my Valentine’s Dinner)!

It was initially just the five of us, but since the restaurant is out of normal dish during CNY, dishes available then were quite pricey though. We then changed to a bigger table and called hubby’s siblings who were around to join in our dinner as well.

Braised Beancurd with Yin Choy (6 pcs - Rm36++)

This beancurd dish is quite special with lots of sauce, some sauce for the kids to go with their rice.

Fried Codfish with Pamelo Sauce (5 mini pcs - Rm80++)

Initially when I ordered over the phone, I did not know that the Cod Fish is fried since this is such an expensive fish. But luckily it turned out to be very nice with its special Pamelo Sauce on it.

Ying Yang Kai Lan (Large - Rm40++)

My first time trying out this dish, which is quite common in KL restaurant I think. Even my kids love this vegetable dish, especially the top crunchy part that consists of finely chopped leaves with grilled cuttlefish :)

Charcoal BBQ Pork Rib (4 ribs - Rm60++)

And last but not least, we had the recommended Charcoal Pork Rib. I must say that this dish taste the best among all!  I am glad we ordered this dish and will surely go back there one day for this same dish again :)

Mango Sago Dessert (3 bowls - Rm24++)

After dinner, we ordered some dessert to share.

I am not surprise how expensive every dish here was since each dish were calculated accordingly to how many pieces we would like to have (for instant, how many ribs, how many pieces cod fish and beancurds). Total damage was near to Rm400 for 6 adults. Although this dinner was very pricey (where service charge and government tax already stands more than Rm50), I must say that I am very contented with my best Yee Sang dinner/Valentine’s meal for 2011!

  2. ooohhh the pork rib does look yummy! yeah, eating out is so expensive these days but I guess once in awhile is ok… we need to reward ourselves too right ;-)

  3. I was there on Valentine’s day too!! (for dim sum brunch). A little pricey but food, ambiance and service is good.

  4. I was wow wow wow looking at the picture of the food. But the price really very costly.

  5. Nice food during CNY…..eat and enjoy :)

  6. yeah dining out is expensive but everyone satisfied with the food that’s worth :-P

  7. goshhh….*salivating* so hungry now!!!!

  8. mmmm.. all look so delicious.. disadvantage of living overseas … no great food!!

  9. I used to work at Jaya 33 and had the privilege of having business lunches at Oriental Pavillion. The food there is really yummy. If you like tang yuen, try their sesame tang yuen (either in ginger or soya bean) - that’s my fave dessert there!

  10. I went there for wedding dinner last weekend. The food was so so only. They served steam prawn, but some prawn were not that fresh.

  11. Your “boss” is so nice to splurge on this gourmet meal for you :) But how come your Valentine’s dinner got so many “lamp posts” (6 adults, you mentioned)? :p

    Regarding the Tony Roma’s free kiddy meal, the condition is very simple only… for every main course ordered, you are entitled to one free kiddy meal but it’s limited to 2 per family, I think. And it’s only available from Mon-Wed. It’s not a credit card promotion. The portion is very generously huge. So for your family, 2 kiddy meals is more than enough for the kids to share.

    As for Chloe’s school, I’ve only registered her for the placement. There’s no guarantee that she will get a place there… yet. The school is nice cos I think the PIBG is very rich… which means, we have to be prepared to fork out money from our pockets hehe ;)
