Tempted to change school last minute

I am turning from a slack convent girl into a kaisu, kiasi-crazy mother very soon!

During my registration for QQ’s primary school, some technical problem arise due to the new implementation of the computerize system. Somehow her name was not captured in the list school of our choice when we went there to confirm her registration earlier this year.

Being very worried not able to get into this super old kampung school (people living in my area has no choice as this is the nearest, and also most kids in our area going to so it is easy for me to find a car pool), my friend and I quickly went to the nearest Kementerian office to secure her the place.

After a lot of negotiation with the people at the office and headmistress of the school (you know la, pushing responsibility to each other and not wanting to admit the mistake), I finally got QQ in!

UNTIL…………………………………I found out about another newer Chinese Primary School, which is just situated about less than 2km away last week, sigh….!!

After visiting and checking with some parents whom I know sending their kids there, I really wanna cry out man when I found out the following benefits of going to that school compare to the one we registered:

  • Stronger PIBG (where parents group speaks louder)
  • “Loving Mama” group was created by the volunteered parents to give extra time tuition to help the children who are weak in studies
  • Lesser homework (as they are less result oriented compare to QQ’s registered school)
  • Kids not divided into classes based on result (at least no existence of  “dumb kids class” which is frequently being looked down by the teachers)
  • Better facilities (proper and brighter toilet, acceptable canteen to accommodate the kids)

I know it is almost impossible to change school now, especially when school is going to begin in another 2 weeks time. I am so tense and nervous for her that I can’t even eat or sleep properly this week ever since my MISSION IMPOSSIBLE plan started. I really don’t know who to ask for help, but I will still try my best, and see if I can still squeeze her in before the school starts.

Let’s see if we are really that lucky!

  1. you’re doing the best for QQ, good luck!

  2. Hi, as far as I know, both schools that situated near to Bandar Sg. Long are also results oriented. The school with a newer facilites that you mentioned has just started the new system on placement based on academy results this year. Do get the latest info those parents who sent there kids to SJKCC2.

  3. The new school at ur place sound just like the one my kids going to. New building, no streaming, emphasise on love and care… I am counting my blessing

  4. all the best to you…

  5. Good luck! Don’t give up even if this time you can’t get her in(touch wood), you can try again next year!:)

All the best to you and QQ!

  6. I don’t think it’s easy to transfer school especially to a Chinese school. Why not let QQ try out the existing school for a year and then decide from there. Who know, she might end up faring well and loving the school.

  7. Chinnee, I think you are stressing yourself unnecessary! It does not matter which school QQ is going since she is only in P1. I think you should just let the matter rest and let her get acquainted with going to a full fledge school and I believe things will fall into place. You don’t even know how is the current school she has registered in so don’t jump into conclusion yet.

I find that today’s parents tend to stress themselves too much and not thinking of their kids. To me, every kids has the opportunity to excel regardless of which school they goes to. Does not mean if you sent her to the best school she will turn out to be the best student.

There was once my uncle told me that it is better to study in a less competitive school so the child is given a chance to do well in their own pace and not let competitiveness shield their vision. So what if she is top of the class but unhappy?

To me all schools are the same (Chinese school) as they have the same mission… to produce better and brighter students. You see, all of us went to non rated school previously and still we turned out fine. :D

My hubby’s cousin just graduated with 1st class honor in pharmacy in one of the top Uni in AUS and what surprised us was she was not even offered a job! According to my hubby, not all companies like to have too smart ppl in their companies!

Remember, not all PhDs can get a job! :P

Just chill out this holiday and Que Sera Sera ok? :)

    Merry Christmas!

  8. Whichever sch QQ ends up in, may she adapt well n be happy there.

  9. I guess this is my first time drop by ur blog.
Oh dear, why not let QQ try out the school for first half of year, and then decide later. Just my two cents.

  10. Is there a new school? Which one that?

  11. how now?? QQ will be attending her registered school?? or another school??
