Singapore Post 1: Driving through Woodlands

…is our first madness.

First, I did not bring maid’s expired passport (that shows her entry into Malaysia) but instead brought only the current one. So Malaysia Custom blocked us and asked for her to present at the office. Besides the long wait, the people working in the office were rather annoying. They rather sit there to chat while asking hubby and maid to wait at the counter. Thank goodness the boys were behaving well in the engine running car. After almost 30 minutes of waiting (that shows how inefficient our custom is), they stamped her passport and release Kakak.

And then we though Singapore custom would be better (you know, we always think everything there tend to be better planned mah…)

Unfortunately until TODAY (wonder how long has this ERP thing has been started!) Singapore Custom at Woodlands still do not display any signage to direct the Malaysia cars into any special lane to get the ERP before entering Singapore! Inc case you are wondering, TUAS is the same too (according to a friend who drove in from TUAS a week before us). Thank GOD we managed to drive “criss-cross” over the long queue into an opposite lane and turn into a NON-ENTRY direction to stop by to get the ERP from their office. We saw many cars did the same too and that might be the cause to the long queue. Wonder what if we did not make turn on the one way road but drive straight into Singapore ??? If only they are aware of the lack of signage for the drivers, sigh……

However people there were working extremely hard, rushing here and there to diverting all the chaos traffic. Even the counter people made an extra effort to walk to our car to check our car registration number and very friendly indeed :)

  1. The Singapore custom is strict yet friendly, but I still prefer M’sia custom, they didn’t even check our passport when we drove through(typical slumbering attitude of M’sia goverment staff)!^-^

  2. Hmm… we waited in the car too, for about 15 minutes. we were halted because we bought some “illegal stuffs”. Hubby didn’t seem to face problems getting the erp wor (also done within that 15 min).
