LEGO Racers 8211 Brick Street Getaway

Not only the boys were given a surprise, their Mummy was in a big surprise too, when Ah Ku brought back such a difficult level LEGO set for her 2 little boys, LEGO Racers 8211 Brick Street Getaway for 7-12 years old. Not that I am afraid the boys will swallow the tiny parts, but I hate the idea of picking up tiny pieces scattered everywhere, just in case they got angry while playing (they always do when snatching happens) and slam their toy on their floor.
Can’t blame my dear brother though, as we could not afford anything like this for him in his younger years. Perhaps it is him who wanted to play this so much :p

Since Ah Ku reached Melaka only at midnight, they were so excited when they saw this box and refused to sleep. To prevent them from going in and out of the room to living hall to look at this box, I had to bring it in and place it beside their mattress so they get to look at it. Finally they dozed off after a while.

When we reached home 2 days later, hubby and I tried to set it up. The pieces are so tiny, hubby and I got tired and gave up after a while ( I wanted to retire early and apply my eye wrinkle cream as I was getting up whole night to check QQ’s temperature and fed her medicine each night in Melaka) .
Since QQ wanted to play so much, she decided to set the remaining by herself. Surprisingly QQ is quite good at this (with my minimal supervision).

Bad robber truck (green big truck) trying to set free his alliance (another bad orange truck) from jail

Slam action to set the police car speed off to chase the bad guys…
I must admit that this set is really fun to play, if the boys are older. After the big truck sets free his alliance, he can use his truck to then pull away the Cash Box from the Bank. Another person can pretend police and slam on the car to speed chase the robbers.
After just a few days of excitement, now the whole set is left on the kids play table just like that to collect dust. They go play whenever they want for a while and then leave it again. Wonder what am I going to do with it now….
How do you normally handle your kids Lego set up set? Leave them display there or dismantle everything and put back into the box again?

It’s so true that we buy toys for our kids because we want to play with it first
I bought an advanced Lego set for Chloe too. It was hub and me that ended up playing with it haha. After setting it up, we just dismantled everything and kept in a box for her to play when she’s older. There are too many tiny pieces… cannot afford to lose even a single piece!
We dismantle and re-build other things with the pieces. more fun!!
Hi! Came to visit after reading that you also loved the coffee in Malacca!
Anyway….I love lego too. The set that I bought was more for me than my son. Hope when they grow bigger they will learn to love it too.
But as for now, I will do all the building, they will do all the playing. And then I will tear it down when they get bored and rebuild again!
I’ve always wanted to buy a Lego set for my kids too but afraid I have to do the picking up later. Bits and small pieces everywhere around the house. hehe…..Maybe got to wait till they are older a bit only buy for them.
Nice set of Lego Ah Ku bought for them, too bad they too young for that. Singapore has Lego Education Centre which quite interesting but I wonder Malaysia have it or not.
Yeah you can dismantle it and let them build anything they want.
My hubs also bought a box of lego set for my girls last week. The first 2 days, they were super excited with the Lego and kept playing with them. Now, the box of Lego is lying in the corner collecting dust again!
wahhh.this set sure very very expensive. Its a great toy!! Kau fu must have love the boys very much!
haha, I also experienced this. I bought one of the Lego set and only realized that the parts are so tiny when I opened the packing.
I only let my kids built it once in a while. And you know, every time after they played, I have to check the dust pan after I swept the floor. There were a few times I found the tiny parts there, sigh!
Haha…welcome to LEGO world!!
For me, it depend, if they are bored with it already, then, I will just dismantle it and put into a container(with many compartments)….so, after some while, when they want to play with it again, they can find back the pieces easily:)
