Time for another camera

After some let down from the pictures taken from my current camera, I am now thinking to get another “better” camera. Although I like  DSLR, it is definitely too heavy and big for me as I know it is impossible for me to operate. Now I narrow my choice to either a better PNS like Lumix LX3 or Micro Four Third Lumix GF1.

Lumix LX1 with a good small aperture of F2.0-F2.8. A small camera with reasonable price range of Rm15xx. Tempted to buy since its affordable, but my brother said, why buy another compact camera when I already own one simple Lumix, sigh….

Another choice would be the Lumix GF1, a Micro Four Third Camera.  It perform like a dslr (with a lower quality of couse), with changeable lens but compact in size. There 2 package available in Malaysia, where it comes with its standard kit lens, or f1.7 pancake lens. Price is of course on the higher side, with a standard lens fetching around Rm28xx or pancake F1.7 Rm31xx.

This is how it looks with changeable lens (pic above taken from here)

After testing it out, I somehow do not really like the “feel” of this camera. It’s so difficult to focus (using button pressing and setting) instead of “hand zooming” for DSLR. So expensive some more! Furthermore, not that I will be buying lots of lens for my simple photography at home. If only I can purchase this from tiger direct coupons at a fraction of price compare to our camera shops here.

Sigh, wonder if there is any other model that you know off that suit me better with the picture taking condition as below besides DSLR?

  • dark indoor home shooting
  • constant moving kids

  1. Have you tried Canon G11? I bought one few months ago, after good recommendation from my colleague and friends. It has low light and quick shot mode, which can fulfill what you need above. (I think it probably similar to Lumix LX3.)
