CNY celebration at Melaka

Nothing feels like own home. We reached Melaka only on the 3rd day of CNY. Instead of cooking most dishes (wonder why my mum do not prepare steamboat as usual), my parents ordered some pre-cooked dishes.

Leisure dinning at home

Our common dishes are the Teochew Lor Ark (Braised Duck from LTP Restaurant), Spicy Tomato Chicken, Teochew Steam Promfet, Fish Maw Soup and a plate of Mix Vege.

Now the boys insist sitting with us on the table when we dine

On the following night, I even prepared Fish Maw Soup and Braised Sea Cucumber with Pork Knuckle using late MIL’s recipe for the very first time.

Verdict: Sorry, no picture to show, but hehe…I am really quite proud of my capability!

Sorry for my lousy Ah-Soh look. I will remember to use some make-up and the best eye cream in future!

On the 5th night, hubby suggested that we dine out and he wanted to go to one of the best restaurant in town, Bei Zhan. Nah…not that they serve good food, but at least this restaurant is more “presentable” when *ahem* you know-la, especially when the Son-In-Law want to treat his Parents-In-Law, hahaha!!!

I must admit that the ambience and the service at classy white Bei Zhan is really far more superb as compare to our old-time-favourite LTP Teochew Restaurant. Food wise, ok -lah..acceptable, if you are not fussy.

Check out where we visit also in Melaka after this!

  1. spending time with family is great ya ? I was at malacca on CNY Day 1, terrible jam from Ayer Keroh all the way to Pahlawan. We skipped Bei Zhan this year. Their CNY menu is very very expensive but I heard on the 3rd day onwards, cheaper menu was available. We went to Bei Zhing.. just round the corner, much cheaper menu but ambience not as nice at Bei Zhan. Give it a try next time .
