TV in car for kids?

After 19 months taking care of the boys, I feel that parenting twins is definitely getting more difficult as they grow older. As they understand things and able to communicate better, they tends to be fussier now. Korkor no longer wanted to be carried only by Kakak (she has been sitting at the 3rd row with Kakak since baby while I tended demanding Didi). Not getting my attention when he was younger, he nows gets extremely attached to me now and do not allow me to carry Didi. I always ended up need to struggle alone, catching 2 screaming and crying boys in our car rides as they refuse me to carry the other party. Wonder if it really helps if we get portable TV with a Slingbox so that they can watch their favourite show in our long journey rides. Any with kids refusing car seats can share?

  1. oooo…i can imagine how kecoh it is with the duduk tak diam type of kids in the car. QQ used to be like that last time when she was younger. portable TV has nv came in to my mind coz i will have motion sickness if i look at the tv in a moving car! so during our 2hr+ journey back to ipoh almost twice a mth last time, I have to entertain her with some small toys. bring along a big pillow (adult’s pillow), and she’ll sit on it with my arms around her. then slowly she’ll fall asleep and i let her lie on the big pillow on my lap. most of our travelling time is near to her nap time. so i can control the situation better, with lesser fuss.

  2. Not a bad idea though to get one in order to entertain the kids…but i dont think i will have a one in my car cos i know i will be watching the tv instead of driving…wink**

  3. shan rae also doesn’t likes to sit in his car seat. for every chance he can, he will cry his way out, or says he wants milk, milk. and once he is out from the car seat, he will be all smiley.

but as much as we can, we will just keep him in the car seat, and starts distracting him with food. if it fails, we will let him cry until we cannot tahan… then, we take him out

  4. Maybe some catchy kids music might help?

  5. snacks!!! this always work for haye li but make sure there’s someone around to monitor them while eating.

  6. Sigh, don’t ever put a TV in car. My mom last time used to put the TV in the car, cos those kids (neighbour’s children cos my mom picked them back from school with my brother, about 4 of them) make noise in the car… the TV cartoon, make them quiet for sometime.

But then, I once watched cartoon in the car and found out it is very pening.. after few minutes.. and I think is not a good idea..

And, force them to sit in car seat, both of them! not just let one sit and let another enjoy holding by you or kakak.
Victor once refused the car seat and he cry n cry n cry until he vomit everything out.. and scared himself.
From that day onwards, I will ask him you scare to vomit or not whenever he refuse the seat.
Luckily.. he seldom refuse the seat, cos his sister always in the seat and he likes following what his sister do. haha.

  7. i know how u feel. twins somemore. maybe can give them some snacks … that’s why i do when my kids were younger. :)

  8. since born jesse dislike n will not sit on carseat until she saw a bb sitting n then requested to sit on car seat. at times we on the tv in car but dat doesnt mean both can sit still without making any fuss….. both will still fight n argue for watever reason!! if they r reli over my limit i will tell them tat i will stop the car n they can walk back :p n there will b a long silence before it started again :o
