Famous Oyster Noodle (O Mee) in Melaka

I almost forgotten about this yummy famous teochew dish, which I used to eat frequently when I was young. Oyster Noodle is almost cook like Hokkien Noodle, except that the taste is very much richer with the additional of oyster added.

My family used to have this dish frequently at the old LTP Teochew Restaurant (where my grandpa worked). As a Teochew myself, writing this reminds me how much I miss my family’s old time favourite -their fried oyster omelette (oh chien) and sweet yam dessert (orh nee).

Black Oyster Stir Fry Noodle (Orh Mee) - Rm8 for size of 2 pax

Another famous place to eat this is at Teo Soon Loong Chan Restaurant, which is situated near to Jonker Street. It has been more than 20 years since we went there and Gosh…I just found out how famous they are now through google search!

Since hubby said he had not eaten anything like that, we went to Restaurant Eng Kee now situated at next to Post Office at one new housing area in Padang Temu (which is just very near to my house). My uncle said this oyster noodle stall is the one originally situated under a bridge at Jalan Bunga Raya that used to be very famous many many years ago.

Good to find out that there were not many people at their new shop (perhaps its not discovered by tourist yet coz I can’t even find out about this stall online).

Fried Yam Basket with Sweet sour pork (Fatt Putt) - huge serving!

Besides the yummy noodle, we also ordered some dishes to go with rice. QQ only ate the black oyster noodle until she finished them all!

Ginger Stir Fried Clams (Lala) -was just nicely done

Claypot Salted Fish Belly Pork -My mum loves this dish!

A happy and full ballooned Kakak at Restaurant Eng Kee

Total bill for our order plus another pack of take away oyster noodle for my father cost only about >Rm60. For so much of dishes, pretty reasonable eh? We will surely dine in there again when we go back to melaka next round!
