Perhentian Kuih Kampong, Melaka

Only 5 minutes away from my mum’s house, we often go to Perhentian Kuih Kampong for our evening tea. They serve very good small pack nasi lemak (70sen/pack), and have the most variety of Malay Kuih in Melaka. Among my favourite is their juicy Kuih Koci (40sen/pc) which is very thickly ladden with white coconut milk.  Some Malay bloggers said their asam pedas is fantastic (hmm…must try it out one day). Sorry I do not have more pictures to share, but you can google for more information and pictures from some Malay bloggers.

If not mistaken, this stall has been operating since 1978. When I was very young, my grandpa used to tapau kuih from this stall back for me when he cycled back from work (at almost 90 now, he is still cycling daily passing by this stall).

By late evening, it is very crowded as that kuih stall only arrives and start selling kuih only starts to sell at 4pm. As it is situated in the middle of the main road of Ujong Pasir (next to a surau), it is almost impossible to get a parking there. Mostly of their patrons are local Chinese and Malays (now I see lots of Malay tourists too). Good for us that this place is not really discovered yet (coz there are too much other good food to feast for all Chinese tourist who comes all the way to Melaka to eat :)

I think Melaka’s asam pedas is the best. Makan dengan roti canai (at breakfast stalls), makan dgn nasi..semua best. Me born and most of growing up years in Melaka..miss being there..!
