Christmas Lightings at Portugis Settlement, Melaka

Since it is Christmas Eve, and my mum’s house is a bridge across the famous Portugis Settlement, we decided not to drive out anymore that evening, just in case we got stuck outside, not able to go drive home that night. After dinner, together with my mother, we walked to the Portugis Settlement to see their famous once-a-year brightly lit up Christmas light.

Unlike many years ago, now most of the homes are locked. Therefore visitors can only see from the gate. But this year, there was one house that opens their gate to welcome admiring visitors. Not bad huh my pictures from my lousy camera..

Close up on the birth of Jesus (if  am not mistaken)

Another beautiful lit up bungalow (sorry I had to include this man with his daughter as it was almost impossible to catch a good picture without any heads).

It was so hot and packed as some silly drivers still wanting to drive squeeze into those narrow roads on this special day. However not many houses were lighted up compare to previous year (we all guess it is due to the bad economy situation?)

By 10pm, we already went home. Later it became very crowded as we can see many cars passing by our house looking for a place to park. Approached midnight, there were lots of firecrackers and fireworks. Even a Christmas in Melaka is even merrier than a Chinese New Year in Kuantan (hubby’s hometown). How I miss celebrating Chinese New Year Eve in Melaka (no more chance after getting married :( ….
