Arriving at Gurney Hotel, Penang
After filling our stomach at Bukit Tambun, we went into Penang (also QQ’s first experience crossing the Penang bridge). We stopped by USM for a while, waiting for my brother to collect something from his ex-lecturer. QQ was so anxious about checking into the hotel, and finally at 5pm, we reached her long waited destination, The Gurney Hotel.

Rm190 per night with breakfast for 2 included (Citibank Credit Card Promotion), our one bedroom suite is quite huge. We have got a sea facing room and it is really beautiful. My boys love watching the ships passed by and kept on saying “Row-row a boat”, hahaha… (boat where got row some more these days right?)
Without wasting more time, we all quickly changed into our swimming gear and went for water play (the greatest attraction and that was the reason why we choose this old hotel that makes my skin itch upon touching on the bedsheet 
After comparing a few hotels, I think Gurney Hotel has the best water play with lots of raining mushroom and 2 big water slides. But the water is rather deep and soooo cold because it is situated at the 7th floor. *Brrrrr* we only let the boys into water for a while and they were shivering like mad already.

Boys were pulled out of water after a while since the water is too cold. Luckily they did not cry while watching kids playing in the water.
Besides Archery, there are also snooker table, kids room and show time. So much thing to do, and yet so little time we have. After playing for almost an hour, we went back to our room. Check out next posting on our food hunt on the first night.

Wow I didn’t know they have sand play in that hotel. It is a big room you have there. Good deal!

Stay in that hotel before when it just open. Very nice. For the pool, I really scare to go near there..haha..if you go to the edge of the pool, the view is nice but too high for me ler to look down

7 years ago, we stayed at Gurney Hotel too. Not bad this hotel. We tried archery too. In 1.5 weeks’ time, we’re off to Penang too, to Northam Suites first then Hard Rock Hotel! Yay!
Hi Barbara, the citibank promotion of RM190 is nett price, inclusive of 2 buffet breakfast but surcharge applies during festive seasons and the last 2 weeks of December. Further, you need to make reservation under the promotion to enjoy the special rate and the hotel has certain quota each day for this promotion, if not mistaken, only 10 suites per day. I have stayed in the hotel many times on the citibank promotional rate and it is definitely worthy! Btw, I have checked with the hotel, they say new rate for 2010 not out yet and not sure if citibank would continue the promotion with them, and i hope the bank will. I will stay there again end of this month and I simply cant wait!
S. Wei, yes there is a jacuzzi in the suite and it can fit 2 persons. so dont forget to bring your bubble bath along
