Long waited Pearl of Orient

With my 2 super difficult to care boys tagging along, not sure if I should label our next trip as another vacation or war. Yes, we are going to the Pearl of Orient, end of November. Finally,  after waiting for soooo many years for the boys to grow up a bit. We are going there for no other reason than to EAT, especially at Tambun (which I have not been to until today).

Actually I am still in doubt if we really get to enjoy our food in this trip. At least the boys are old enough to be placed on baby highchairs (provided they have enough sleep and not cranky), given lots of cutleries, bowls and tiny bits of food to mess with, and food arrive quick enough to let us gobble down before they start screaming, wanting to climb of the high chairs again.

Food/places I MUST eat:

  • Chee Cheong Fun at Genting Coffeeshop (pretty crowded and hot place right?Any place I can go with similar taste ah?
  • Night Yong Tau Foo by the tricycle uncle (if you know where is this place, pls let me know coz I forgot the name of the street)
  • Tambun (which restaurant? I googled and saw Gee Seng, Prawn Village or Floating Paradise. Pls share with me k)

Things MUST buy:

  • Fresh nutmeg (does all wet market there has this?)

Oh yes, we will also be stopping by Ipoh to eat,  most probably going to try the famous Bean Sprout Chicken, hoping to meet up with some blogging friends.

I am getting so excited about this trip and now daily checking about places which I want to go. Just hope that we will not get tummy upset by eating out throughout the trip like this although we are covered by the low cost health insurance.

So much into cooking

28.10.09 / Baking/Cooking, Parenting / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (13)

Must be stress again or what, I am so into cooking these days (instead of baking). I enjoy learning to cook new dishes, especially spicy food since there is a Kakak to help me pound cilli and ingredients. See what I have learn to cook very recently.

Sambal Udang , Sambal Belacan Kacang Botol

Sambal Belacan, Daging Pongteh, and more at my food blog @ www.decuisine.net

Sei mou, don’t say loose weight, how not to gain weight? Even plain white rice also becomes extra nice with spicy dishes like this. Furthermore, hubby can’t take spicy food much as his stomach can’t take it therefore it all ends up in my stomach. Don’t think I will be able to wear sexy tight breeches anymore when I go riding in future.

Miniature twin babies

28.10.09 / Parenting, Twins, breastfeeding / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (8)

….continue from my Tanjung Rambutan journey

Two nights ago, we brought the boys to their 3rd Pneumoccocal jab, finally to their last very very expensive jab (RM560 for twins per jab) which has been delayed very long due to some light flu. Again my greatest fear came as they were put on the weight scale.

Miniature Didi beating to the drums

Didi weights only 8.6kg while Korkor is 8.8kg at 16 months which is way below the acceptable range (plot by graph on their medical card). Although the boys still look proportionally sized alright from their appearance and photos, they actually looks like 8 month old babies only in real (miniature 16 months).

The paed put them on multivitamin now and wants to see some improvement in another month. With Korkor’s appetite I know he will be able to pick up soon. It is Didi which I am worry about as he still cannot accept formula until today, not even the smell of it (don’t say a spoon!)

From today onwards, I decided to go into another “confinement” again, stuffing myself with those nourishing soup to see if this way can boost up my milk supply (Gosh, I cannot imagine the weight I am going to gain from now and having to depend on the best weight loss pills later). Otherwise I shall have to  wean them off breastmilk totally, hopefully Didi can accept formula soon if he does not get mummy’s milk (which is definitely not my choice if possible).

Admitting myself into Tanjung Rambutan

23.10.09 / Child's Play, Parenting, Twins, remember me / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (27)

When I read about Shireen’s complaining pulling hair and tearing skin feeding her child, I think I am worst, having to manage 2 crazy kids these days. For me, it feels like slicing pieces of my skin out of me  slowly, layer by layer and then left to depress and die of super-speed aging.

For almost a month (or more), my boys have not been eating well (or I should say, not eat AT ALL) but only attached to my very very dry and skin-left boobs screaming for no reason all day long. I know that not eating well is only a temporary phase. In fact, I should be counting my blessing that my twins are born at the maturity of pregnancy with good health and good look, and things like this is actually nothing to worry about as compare to newborns or sick babies who are fighting for their life in the incubators. It is just me that I can’t handle my stress well, especially very recently (cannot be menopause symptoms right? I am only 33!)

Anyway I just realised that molars are coming out from their gums yesterday. Korkor has got one molar out now, and Didi has 2 coming out at the same time (luckily they dare not bite me!). No wonders these madness happen, and it is still happening although Korkor got back his appetite so we left only fussy Didi to force feed.

But still, despite eating well and sleeping well today, they still cried and wailed for no reason this evening. We have even come to a horrible stage where  I had to leave them rolling on the floor since they just would not stop crying although I tried hard to carry or distract them.

*Sigh*….these few days I have been sitting there, feeling so lost, looking at my screaming boys who one by one takes turn crying out their lungs, wriggling on the floor. With this kind of low tolerance (sometimes I even got wild and scream back at my innocent young kids), I really wonder if I am fit to be a SAHM. I think I better send them out to pre- school in earlier age before I go into deep depression and got admitted into Tanjung Rambutan!

You think this is temporary phase?? Haha…we actually expect even crazier days to arrive as my 16 maonths boys are entering into their Terrible Two (x 2) soon. How I envy mummies with MIL around so at least they get a 1 hour break in a day or a day off in a week to breathe (although sometimes MIL is commonly refers to Monster-In-Law).

*This is what we call the FUN of PARENTING TWINS*…crazy twin mother

Dinner at Yuzu, Garden

After reading so much about this nice Japanese restaurant at The Garden, we decided to visit Yuzu.  I planned to order the Kobe Beef for hubby to try since I wish to treat hubby on this expensive meal but to my surprise the slice beef is priced at Rm150 for only 100g , not Rm88 as I read from some blogs :(

Knowing that it will surely turn tasteless for hubby at such price, hence I picked Wagyu beef (read lots of good review on these beef cubes) but to my dismay they were out of stock too. We ended up with something more expensive than the Wagyu beefs (forgot what these longer cubes were named), but was again dissappointed that hubby said the beefs were tasteless. Probably is because that his set is expensive (I forgot what name but it is RM60), thus the beef became tasteless for him, hahaha!

I ordered this set (RM40 which contains sushi roll with Unagi, clear mushroom soup cooking on Washi paper, salad, cawan mushi and tiny slices of appertiser and fruits). For me, I feel it is pretty expensive.

QQ only had 2 sushi rolls since she love Unagi a lot. But there are lots of small bones, hubby has to pick them out until there is not much left for QQ.

Although the place is classy, it isn’t a good place for us to go as my boys were screaming (Kakak had to carry the crying and cranky korkor in and out of the restaurant) and almost run down the place. Poor diners who were there on that evening as they cannot have a peaceful dinner. Luckily Didi is willing to sit down towards the end of our dinner, munching the cucumbers from our salad and took some porridge with my cawanmushi.

Boy, what a tiring and stress dining for all of us.  Although I have been wanting to go to the Japanese Buffet at Umai-ya, I don’t think the boys can wait for our re-order food to arrive at our table.

Unless the restaurant has something to entertain my very very active boys like the above, otherwise there will be no way both hubby and I can dine in peace. Sigh….

The KL Babywearing members decided to meet up on the 17th October 2009 in conjunction of the IBW 09.  We choosed The Curve as our meet up venue, hoping to avoid the crowd in 1Utama.

Gathering with some babywearing mummies

It is indeed great to see many young mummies nowadays are wearing their babies and toddlers. I just hope there will be more Chinese mummies will come out to show support to babywearing in public.

Posing for a group photo at the fountain at the end of the Weekend Flea Market

Initially we planned to walk over to Ikea Cafe but to our surprise, the place is sooo packed on that day! I think the group ended up elsewhere. We then went over to Ikea (boy, it was really hard to find a parking on that day) and got the kids a play tent :)

Everyone fresh in green

Since hubby and I just got a new shirt, we decided to wear green on that day, except qiqi who refuse to be in a theme with us. So she wore a white dress with little red flowers and I told her she looks like Kakak’s (who was wearing red) daughter instead.

We were suppose to attend a neighbour’s open house, but we reached home late. Although I still see many cars around, hubby did not want to go anymore :(

Experience of feeding 3

Guess what I did yesterday? After breastfeeding my boys by letting them latch directly on me for more than a year, I started pumping again yesterday. No, the milk isn’t for the boys, but for a friend’s premature baby who is still in ICU. Born at only 33 weeks, the baby is still on tube.

Not wanting to pump in between feed (to avoid contamination from my boy’s saliva), I woke up to pump before they woke up. To my surprise, I could get only 1 oz yesterday morning when I pumped. Aiyo…don’t tell me they have been surviving only with this amount of milk all these while? No wonder they are so underweight! !

I hope my dear friend will have very strong will and persistant to breastfeed her premature baby this time as she gave up breastfeeding her 3 older girls previously. (She is now at the Dr Koe - lactation consultant’s clinic seeking for help to get the milk out of her engorged breasts).

Money from blogging

17.10.09 / Chin Nee, best & good / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (13)

I miss those days when some of us were blogging like crazy. I still remember with super high energy staying up till dawn (or I should say, round the clock checking for popping out assignments, jumping up from sleeping at the slight sound of beeping sms), my online pals and I hardly have enough time to sleep. What I miss most is the 4 figure monthly income at the peak period, and the “fun” of rushing more than 20 posts in 3 blogs  per day like crazy that enable a SAHM like me to accumulate up to 5 figure income in my Fixed Deposit today. (Tell you, BIG bloggers those days can easily catch up to 5  figures deposit every month into their bank account, so no need envy with this small ikan bilis blogger like me, ok)

Since money is depreciating fast over the years, hubby suggested investing into commodity like gold or silver knowing that the  silver price will surely appreciate in many years to come. With world demand exceeding supply, this can be the best investing opportunity for us and also to preserve our saving.

Hmm…since blogging for income has almost coming to the end, I think I must seriously look into the option of investing instead of letting my hard-earned money looses its value and become no use by the time I grow old.

MomBloggersPlanet Cutest Baby in STROLLER Contest

Hong Then & Hong Zhen at 3 months (DOB: 29 June 2008)

See how much both my twin boys have grown (in age) but decrease in size!

They were very chubby when they were younger so I thought they will be BIG babies, unlike their skinny but fully breastfed sister. Unfortunately due to lack of appetite, they now hardly eat proper meal and only depending on my drying up breastmilk most of the time.

I love this picture so much that I even printed 2 Big copies and have them laminated and framed up, one for my mom and one for my grandma. Since the MomBloggersPlanet is running a contest on the Cutest Baby in STROLLER (with fabulous prizes sponsored by Photobook Malaysia and AliceWonders), I thought I might as well get a part into it, hoping to win a Photobook to print out all my boy’s younger days.

When they were younger, the boys always draw lots of attention in public whenever we put them into their Maclaren Twin Stroller. It was initially their father’s intention to “display” his boys in sitting side by side in twin stroller although I thought getting two singles will be easy to manage. After surveying and comparing within many brands, we find that this is the best and most easy to maneuver twin stroller in the market. However price is not cheap and it is really heavy but extremely safe and sturdy.

Unfortunately they did not sit in long as my “insecure” babies prefer to be carried. Thus, from 3rd month onwards, my maid and I decided to wear our baby on ring sling since it is more convenient and quicker too. They have been sitting and sleeping comfortably in the warm and comfort of Ring Sling from then on until now (boys at almost 16 months).

Now that they are  at the stage or walking and running everywhere.  Do you think now will be the right timing to bring out the stroller again to let them ride?

I can’t believe it. Since last Saturday, my 2.5 years Lenovo laptop has totally died on me,with no sign of power supply when I press on the ON button. Not sure if it is the adapter that is not working or my laptop that had passed away. I hope it does not as I have not saved all my work details onto my external drive.

What I am really sad is that I just spent RM200 to replace a new keyboard on my laptop. I should have gotten an external keyboard and attached to it instead of getting an original one from Lenovo :(

Sigh…won’t be able to go online for the time being. Miss all of you too, (especially I will not be able to visit blogs now). It is so boring sitting at home whole day especially when my boys are taking their nap. Don’t think I wanna bake for the time being also although I can take some best appetite suppressants to maintain my waistline. Just no more mood for anything else, until I get to go online again :(

Despite my “busyness” with the running boys

I am starting to worry as my boys are now taking too much of my time. Instead of spending more hours in front of the laptop, now I have to chase them all day long. I can only run to my laptop once in a while to check and reply urgent emails/orders. Since my neighbour is hospitalized now, I had to send QQ to school myself and even pick up her and some neighbour’s kids. Sometimes I even take more than 24 hours to reply emails, which can be quite embarrassing especially when I am running on online business.

Updates on Mama Patch Ring Slings

Some new Designer Pocket Ring sling, order customized by the customers

I get more orders for Ring Sling with Pockets nowadays as compare to the silk (which is still my favourite). Guess it is more convenient to wear a sling with pocket so we can at least go “free-hand” as we ladies hardly has pocket on our pants. As we allow customer to mix match the pocket prints and the color of the sling they want, they can really amaze me with the combination of design they come up with.

Most recent order, Barnsling Zip Pocket on White Ditte (Nah…I just wanna show off my new hair color ) I think this Barnsling will look very striking on Black Ditte too. To find out more variation you can create with our Designer pocket Ring Sling, do visit http://www.mamapatch.com/category/ring-sling-designer-pocket/ .

Updates on Mama Patch Modern Cloth Pads

Not only I am crazy about using cloth myself, I get very hooked up seeing the beautiful colors and combination I can come up with my products. Just can’t stand snapping pics of the cloth pads (You will think I am nut if you see me frequently lining up the colorful pads at my main sling door for the light I need for shooting!!) Hmm…at least something of my personal creation which I am really proud off! See more @ http://www.mamapatch.com/category/modern-cloth-pad/

Recent Discovery

After using cloth pad for my menses almost a year, I sometimes cannot be bothered if there are unremoveable stains on my pads. I am still sceptical about if it really gonna grow bacteria in the between layers so I decided to open up an old pad to check. Guess what’s my finding?

As I do not bother to soak with soapy water (you see, I can change new ones as frequent as I want, hehe…) the surface sometimes leaves stains. When I cut it up, I am SO SURPISE to see that the inner layers (right to the bottom) is actually as good as new!! Wonder why??

Well, the answer is because blood (blood from any part of our body, not just menses) is easily staineable ONLY when it is exposed to air. It will be good to sun your pads on the line as sun not only kills bacteria (hey, our blood is sterile anyway, OK!), it works great as a whitening agent too. But even if you don’t, you can now be assured that your pads is really clean in the inside (see picture above). Don’t believe, go open up your pad and check it out yourself :)

Updates on Mama Patch Petite Wetbags

Worry about the messiness of using Cloth Pads during outing? Here, is the solution by using wetbags. Mama Patch cute Petite Wetbags are designed for your convenience of pad storage. With just our single zip wetbag, you can keep the soiled pads in the zipped area (with pretty colorful waterproof lining) and separete the cleans one on the outer pocket. Isn’t it conveninent?Check out more prints @ http://www.mamapatch.com/category/wetbag/

Now if you are still lazy about bringing home soiled pads from shopping for hours, just go out with your disposable and bring a cloth for change when you are about to come back. Otherwise use only cloth at home on weekends and nights for a deep and comfy sleep.

Now you do not have any excuse for using cloth pad, do you?

Plucking Strawberries @ Genting

Entrance to Genting Strawberry Farm

When I saw Pauline’s adventure at the Genting Strawberry Farm, I can’t wait to find out myself and visit this very beautiful place. It is actually situated opposite the Genting Sports Club, next to Goh Tong Jaya Apartment (near to the roundabout). Quite hard tracking own the location as there is no signboard showing the location of the farm.

A water fountain at the entrance.

Since there is not many people who knows about this place, there are really plenty of red and rippen strawberries waiting to be plucked.

The whole farm smells so sweet and nice as there are lots red strawberries hanging on the plants.

Visitors can either choose to pick their own strawberries from the tree (Rm8/100g) or buy ready packed (Rm15/300g). To let QQ enjoy the experience, we choose to let her plucked her own.

Given a basket and a scissors, only 3 pax are only allowed to walk into the destinated open lane only.

So tempted to pluck them all, but I have to limit poor QQ to only 9 fruits as I do not wanna paying exceed 100g, wahahaha!

Do take note that the container itself already weight 15g, ok. So we only pay Rm8 for QQ’s strawberries.

Strawberry Milk shake (Rm8.50) and Ice Juice (forgotten how much)

There is also a open cafe selling strawberry beverage such as juice, tea, coffee and light snacks.  We also ordered a basket of crunchy fried oyster mushroom (RM10) to munch. Hmm..not as nice as those fried by our kakak.

That’s all folk, sharing these for free. You can also find more of the pictures on Facebook.

Thanks to help from Sasha, I am now typing using the downloaded virtual keyboard. Seems like my poor Lenovo laptop is slowly dying off…time to search for a good industrial computer or replacement (

Just like every year, SIL and us make our annual trip to Genting with our free Genting share vouchers last Thursday. Since the tickets can only be used on weekdays, QQ had to take “emergency leaves” from her pre-school. *si beh jialat hor….*

As the Bumbo Boys are older this time, they were so excited with moving things they see and really enjoyed their rides, thanks to Aunty Fiona for the indoor First World Theme Park Tickets!

While waiting for check-in and arrival of SIL, we brought the boys on rides. See how happy is my maid getting on these rides (also her first time).

QQ gets to play in the warm water for the first time (entrance included with the First World theme parkk Indoor Ticket. Otherwise it is Rm5/adut and Rm10/kid). It is really fun. Next round, we shall bring swimwear and put the boys in the pool.

LingZhi

Then we went to the Mushroom Farm (known as “Taman Cendawan” . Quite near to First world by drive). Quite dissappointed as there isn’t much mushroom to see. But I see lots of people went there for food.

Together with SIL and kids, we then drove down again to Goh Tong Jaya Genting Strawberry Farm. A MUST GO. Details coming on next posting.

Am so happy when Irene (also a twin mama whom I got to know through TwinPlus Group in Facebook) decided to come last minute. See how similar and cute is her twin boys @ 18months. Also still a fulltime breastfeeding, I really can’t help laughing when both her Korkor and Didi also want “nen-nen” (one sitting at one side) when they see my boys latching on me.  It is really so nice to share our parenting experience and without realised, we chat till midnight! Nice meeting you, Irene.

Since 2 families “FFK” (fong fei kei) on us, we have 2 spare rooms and hubby gets a bed to sleep in the next adjoining room while Kakak sleeps with us.

We checked out the next day.

Hubby with his 2 very very naughty boys. Not sure what’s wrong with them, recently they were so cranky and naughty that they keep on crying, screaming uncontrollable. We almost could not breathe, sigh…..Can’t wait to throw them out of my house and sneak out for a relaxing vacation with just hubby and I.

On our way coming down, we stopped by at Chin Swee Temple to admire the lantern display. Not much really to see, and we just found out that there are actually also accomodation for rent at this nicey renovated place. More of our Genting pictures at Facebook.

Stay tuned, next at QQ’s exciting experience plucking the stawberries at Genting Strawberry Farm.
