Learning Kyaraben (character bento) making

It is not that difficult to make nice bento lunch box with cute faces, if we have the proper tools. Still remember the “ugly paper doll” I posted earlier? These are done and decorated freehand too…

Mr and Mrs Rectangle Sandwich

Cheese on porridge for lunch (QQ thinks the mixture taste funny though)

Miss Kitty sitting on a bed of egg sandwich

The above still considered presentable yeah? But it is really tedious to handle little eyes and mouth which is so tiny and delicate. Most of the time they will stick on my hand since it get moist very easily. After thinking for a long, long time, I decided to invest in a good Japanese Nori Puncher that can be easily opened from the bottom! See more photos of puncher here.

My first investment on Nori Puncher. From Bentomarket.com

As a result, I get cute faces with my job done faster too. I hope with this, I would be able to make prettier face for QQ in future. She loves what I design for her in the morning before I pack them into her bag too. Must go learn more about Kyaraben (character bento) to make my food presentation looks more interesting.

Bento-in is really an expensive hobby, agree ladies? No kidding man….*sweat*

  2. heehee..agree..agree..full heartedly . Very very expensive hobby. But Chinnee, kitchen tools is always wise investments. They last a lifetime. (almost anyhow). And you used yours so fast already. We picked them up at the same time some more *grin*.

Your bento are much better from my first few attempts. Then it was only 2 weiners and an apple.malu only.haha.

  3. The punches looked sharp! I can’t wait to use mine. :)

  5. u very rajin la!!!! mine, somewhere in a box in the room somewhere… hahahaha! sei mou! waste of money if i don’t use it man :(

  6. wah, i really wonder how u moms find the time to do these…respect! i already have a fussy eater at home and i dont waste time cooking just for her (unless it’s pasta, since she loves pasta), so she eats whatever we eat. i’m only not bothered coz she actually eats well at the daycare due to competition there so eating less over the weekends don’t worry me. :)

so u can imagine me not wanting to do this bento for her coz i doubt she will eat whatever i make… :D

  7. Mummy effort won’t be wasted! I’m sure QiQi will surely finish all the bento with these beautiful faces! I haven’t done one yet…. *shhhhhhhh…*
