Sesame face - Roseola

After a series of high fever episode, with temperature exceed 40 C degree, finally the heat is released by Kor-kor’s body. So many false alarms from this boy, *speechless*…

Roseola is one of those harmless but uncomfortable childhood diseases. I think Chinese we called them fake measles. Yes, it is truly uncomfortable as he cry very often, even in sleep and want to be carried at ALL TIME! Luckily I am only doing all my IT jobs from home therefore I could entertain this cranky poor fella.

Wrapped with wet nappies

When his fever was above 40C degree, I was alarmed and had to sponge him down. His fever lasted for about 5 days before the red spots appear. I read from BabyCenter that he’ll be less contagious once he has the rash than he was when he had the fever (hope it does not gets to Di-di). Well, the only good thing about Roseola is that once a child has had roseola, he’ll probably have lifelong immunity to it.

My 2nd boy always gets rashes after a fever.

  5. Well at least the mystery fever is solved. Roseola is very common in babies so it’s nothing much to worry about.

  6. Oh, at least you found the cause! Bryan had that a couple of months ago. The good news is that once the rash sets in, it’s at the end already :) Wah…still got time to bake???

  7. Phew… at least now u know the whys.

  13. I think my baby also got Roseola, her face is like Kor-Kor also.

  14. Don’t worry. If it’s fake measles, it shouldn’t spread. Good thing that the ever has gone down

  15. Speaking from experience, have to be very careful when your child is having roseola. When Lil’ C was 1, she ended up having a seizure because of the sudden onset of spiking temperature. The irony was that she had her seizure right outside the doctor’s office after the dr told us to go home ‘cos the fever was not very high. So having roseola is not totally harmless. Could be quite dangerous if the fever suddenly spike like in C’s case. But I am glad that kor-kor is ok now. Once the rash appears, it’ll be ok.

  16. Poor boy, hope he is ok now!!
