Substitude for my diamond ring

27.02.09 / best & good / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (0)

Without any jewelry to wear, I look so plain during the previous CNY season. Besides wearing a little gold necklace which I have been wearing since 20 years ago and a wedding ring now, I do not have much gold accessories. Some say it is safer not to wear them due to safety, but it is indeed fun to get dressed once in a while. Hubby still owes me a diamond ring until today, even after 3 kids were born. Now he said we should not be getting one as it would be a waste of money. Quite true also if we were to compare to what we can get from the online designer costume jewelry with just a fraction of price.

Bento 001: A girl from nowhere

Top: flowery cut sausages

Left: Egg sandwich with a decorative doll on top

Right: Cut apples

I almost laugh my head off when I look at my creation in the above picture. Seeing so many nice bento creation from other bloggers out there, I decided to try to make a little girl for QQ using cheese and sausage. Since I do not have a cutter for body part, I just had to do freehand. It ended up look like those Chinese paper dolls for prayers instead. (I think you know what I mean)

My poor girl, I am not sure if she still have the appetite to eat what I have created for her! I tell myself I should improve and I did. Done with all my interim and will post some of them later on….*going to zzzzz now*

Mr Egg Tart now blessed with a smoother skin

After getting the wrong egg tart, poor hubby went to buy egg tarts again the next day. This time he got it correctly for his little girl, after rushing to renew for our car insurance. As this Mr Egg Tart has got a smoother face, I decided to play around by making some a face and hair to it. I cut out some seaweed since I do not have a puncher to do it. Quite ugly, I would say, but at least she is excited. No more additional bread this time. Instead I gave her some peeled oranges.

Will be getting myself a nice puncher from CP very very soon, so that those faces will look more presentable in future.

Wedding planning

With the convenience of online shopping, there is so much to see online. While I was browsing for some decoration accessories from the craft section, I just could not resist taking a look at those cute and cheap wedding favors available online today. At my time, there was not as much choice as they have today. It would surely be fun to organise and plan a wedding online today. I could not wait to see my children’s wedding in another say, thirty years. I know I would not have a chance to meddle with my son’s (DIL’s) wedding? Hopefully in future my daughter will let me plan hers!

Mr Egg Tart from Portugal

Kids are easily influenced. When QQ saw one of her friend brought egg tart to school for snack, she requested the same too. However hubby got her the Portugis egg tart instead of the normal ones. She was not very happy when hubby brought it back. Luckily she forgot about it the next morning, until she saw Mr Egg Tart who flown all the way from Portugis to her school.

She can really eat like a crocodile when she is hungry. Since she does not like vege or fruits (that’s why you don’t see any fruits or vege appear in her box), I added some cut out flower shape bread for her. Instead of applying jam for her, I gave her some strawberry jam and placed them into the little Monkey Sauce container.

Probably it is too difficult for her to handle such delicate small item. She asked me to apply the jam in advance for her instead, really lazy hor? sigh…

Am going to take a break in decorating my girl’s lunch box this coming holiday. Am going to check if I can find a good bargain in one of the Dallas Texas hotels for our vacation.

More of Kitty bread

Cut out bread skin was used to cut Kitty’s eyes and nose. For the ribbon, I add a chocolate chips in the middle surrounded by some blue and purple heart shape sprinkle. I added some little Pooh Sandwich on the left.

After getting her first Kitty Face sandwich for the first time, she wants the same too on the second day. She asked me to add in more bread for her, saying that one set is not enough. Since the Kitty lunch box is too small, I used this Mickey and Friends lunch box since it is bigger. Instead of putting two sets of Kitty sandwich in it, I cut some smaller sandwich using my Pooh vege cutter. I am surprise to see how much I have invested to make my children happy. Nothing for poor Mummy, but definitely worth investing than to let hubby buy his tv stand for his plasma :p

Collecting coins

27.02.09 / Parenting, best & good / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (0)

It is good to encourage our little ones to save when they are young. My mum used to bring me and my siblings to the bank to open an account for each of us when we were very young. Each of us gets a figurine coin box each time we open an account. My mother was even collection coins which are rare and old. I think by now they must have worth a lot over the years. Hubby said we should start to teach QQ to collect her coins by opening an account for her in one of our local bank here. Hopefully she would understand the value of money from now and benefits from her coin collection when she is older.

Kitty Cat Face Sandwich

Kitty Cat Face shape sandwich. Ribbon cut out from leftover bread skin and eyes and nose from choc chips

QQ has been bringing her own lunch box this year. Her school used to provide good breakfast but since they do not want to increase their school fee like other pre-school, they decided not to provide meals to the kids anymore. How nice if I have fruit plants like the Mulberry trees so that I can make Mulberry jam for QQ’s bread.

It is really tiring having to sneak out of my room very queitly every morning, leaving the babies and QQ asleep behind. Very unfortunately, 3 kids of mine are really light sleeper. The moment any of them (including my big buffalo girl) knows that I am gone, we would expect one loud scream from the room. Usually when it happens, me and my maid will quickly throw everything on our hands, rushing into the room to grab out the screaming one, hoping the other two can continue to sleep (which most of the time not!)

See how tedious I am the moment I wake up early in the morning. Want to sleep later also cannot liao!

What happened to my bento post?

Although I have a considerable amount collection of the bento accessories (see my collection here and here), I still do not have the courage (or the confidents) to post what I have been producing for my girl. That is why today you can hardly see any bento post on my blog.

QQ has been bringing her own lunch box to school for snack break starting this year. I was telling CP it would be a good chance to practise my bento skill since I have to prepare snacks for her everyday in the early morning. However taking care of these 2 little monsters isn’t easy as it seems. The moment I leave the room, surely one of the boys will sense my dissappearance and starts to make noise. Normally I ended up stuffing non-decorated bread or snack into her pretty lunch box, and there she goes!

However after reading tips from this expert on how she prepared everything a night before, I start to plan earlier so that I do not to rush like mad in the morning. Will post what I have been doing for her soon, but promise me, don’t laugh your head off yeah…..*cross your heart yeah!*

Putting on make up

Nowadays QQ wants to put on make-up too, when we go out. It started when she sees me putting on make-up during the CNY this year. I seldom applying cosmetic when I go shopping unless attending functions like wedding dinner. So do not be surprise if you see a white ghost me so pale when you bumped me in shopping malls.

Unlike most pretty Mummies out there, I am a very simple person, or I should say plain lazy! However I am hopping that QQ will present herself to the world better than her lazy mummy does, probably take up a professional course from the cosmetology schools in kansas so she would be able to be my beauty consultant in future.

Didi is on flu syrup

27.02.09 / Parenting, Twins / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (10)

Finally I got a good night sleep last night. Didi is now much better (no more *ha-ha-hatt chooo*) after taking the flu syrup. At least no more nose block and he could sleep better too. However he is still quite cranky when he is awake. Yesterday when I drove them back from Auntie Yong’s place, Didi wailed his lung out in the car until poor QQ had to cover her eyes from his shout piercing scream. Luckily Korkor just sit quietly in the car seat until we reached home.

What’s up with myself

I do quite a lot of thinking to myself these days and begin to wonder if I should start to go out to work again. I really cannot imagine if I have to be stuck with the boys especially when they start to walk. I am really afraid that I might go into depression if I have to face the madness with the kids, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week like that.

Or would it help if I lock myself in the room with my laptop upstairs so that the boys would not see me thus demand less attention? Can I really trust my maid to handle to kids all by herself?

*SNATCH*

After a long, long wait for QQ, finally the boys are able to play with their sister now. At almost 8 months, now they love to snatch things from each other. Whenever the boys see their sister playing with something, they would love to have it on their hands too. Little Di-di is even worse as he can chase his sister around the house. Thank goodness he is still in his walker, therefore his movement is a bit constraint. I cannot imagine what it would be like when the boys are able to walk independently on their own, very very soon…Arrghh!

First vacation for Bumbo Boys

Finally we are bringing the boys out (not overseas but out from home) for our first family vacation. It would be a short distance trip (to a cool place on top of a hill), can guess where right? I am so excited as this would be the boys first time staying in a hotel! 3 SIL is coming along so that we could enjoy extra pair of hands helping out with the boys. That also mean QQ will have her little cousin to accompany her to enjoy those rides, thanks to Miche for her free ride vouchers! For myself, I am looking forward to eat dine again at the great buffet in the most popular restaurant on the hill and their famous dim-sum breakfast in the next morning. *Please excuse me as I am going to start to pack for the children for our big fun day…..*

How I sleep with 3 kids

Arrange from left: Kor-kor (in his cot), Me and Di-di (on King size bed) and QQ (on single bed).

Before the twin boys were born, I have been cracking my head thinking how the earth should I sleep with 3 kids + breastfeeding 2 boys at the same time. Luckily we have a big room. Good investment to have good beds instead investing in hubby’s home theater seating right? of Since birth the boys were with me on the king size bed until we run out of space (got to separate them as they start to turn 360 degree and kick each other). I tried putting one baby in cot and QQ on the king size bed with one baby. She ended up kicking her poor brother :(

  • Therefore our arrangement obstacles are:
  • 3 kids have to be separated into their own beds
  • All side must be railed so that they do not roll down

Kor-kor: Now that his cot is adjust a little bit lower than mine, he will not be able to fall out. By sleeping next to me, I can easily pick him up and place him beside me during breastfeeding. Once complete, I just let him *ROLL* back to his bed.

Di-di: This lucky fella has the biggest space to twist and turn around. I have to place a booster beside him so that he would not roll down to QQ. However he still prefer to snuggle close to me at times.

QQ: Using my old single bed, shifted up from my mum’s place. It even comes with a side rail so QQ will fall.

Although our bed is huge, hubby refuse to sleep with us on the king size bed. Too much pressure, he said. So he prefers to sleep on his own. Can guess where?

I WANT!!

Di-di trying to grab QQ’s bottle

Although the boys still on direct breastfeeding, they love to drink plain water from milk bottle (I use Dr Baby smelly rubber teats). I introduce bottle to them quite some time ago as I afraid they would not accept bottle milk when they grow up in future. I tried giving them formula through bottle (just for fun to see if I can escape from breastfeeding at times) but they throw out upon sucking it. *No luck escaping from the boys*. At this moment, they are still very attached to me. The only time I can escape is during their morning porridge feed (that is the only 2 hours I zoom out to do my facial treatment). Taking solid now could at least keep their little tummy filled for a while before they decided to sniff and smell Mummy again….

Now they love to snatch QQ’s things. I think in another few years, they will start to grow interest in hubby’s stuffs like work holding and hardware materials.

My breastfeeding journey

Never did I thought I would be able to breastfeed my twin boys exclusively until today (well nothing is impossible for me :) )

Now my plan is to keep breastfeeding them until they reach 2 yrs old. Besides able to enjoy looking good with fuller breasts (also my only last time in this life to look so good*AHEM*), it is a great way to cut cost too. It is easy now as my milk supply is established by now, sometimes I even experience *ENGORGEMENT*! It is just that I am keeping myself tied up with the boys, btw, my choice so I should not complain. Hubby is now used to public breastfeeding as long as IÂ do not expose too much, *HAHAHA*
