Pocket Cloth Diapers

What a coincidence, all purple and blue!
Left from top: Bumwear training pants (purple), Bumwear One Size (dark blue), Freshbots cover (purple)
Righ from topt: Drybees (L), Bumwear OS (Light blue prints and plain blue)

I thought I should give a serious thought to cloth diapering since I am already owning some Pocket Cloth Diapers (presents from great friends). The boys are still wearing disposable diapers at night and when we goes out for shopping (normally 6~8 hours) as I do not have the guts to wear these on the cloth, for long hours. I am afraid it would be too troublesome to change the soil CD, as we want to avoid bringing too much things during our outing.

So, when do the boys wear these? Only for short distance outing (less than 3 hours) and during their nap. So much of wastage yeah? Now I hope to get a few more for their night use or even better, fully on CD. Am eyeing on the BG OS 3.0 or the fitted diapers (which requires diaper cover). Heard also some good comments the China made Coolababy OS CD. My boys are now almost 8kg and they are real heavy wetter (still sucking me dry at night and I do not even need the Leptovox to help me loose weight).

Any tips to share?

  1. Wow! So fast… already 8 months old. Looks like you are having fun with all the care giving. :P

I tried this CD once. But in my case, it seems very bulky. And, only last for 1 time “wee wee”. Thus, I stop using it. But, I think CD is better as there is no chemicals. :)

  2. It’s much economical using CD but paiseh I didn’t you it at all.

  3. I’m like you.. only wear CD for short trips and at home… when we go for long trips, I still use disposables… easier and less messy :-)

  4. my eli has been wearing BG 3.0 since he was about 1 year old, but hor, i have to change the CD quite often, like every 2 hours, emm, not really very absorbency as being told !

  5. i have Drybees cd as well n most of the time 1x pee oredi start to leak, if my girl wear tis to nap, the mattress will be all wet !! i agreed with huisia, reli not as absorbent as we expect, either dat our kids r extremely heavy wetter

  6. i really wanted to like pocket diapers after reading so many good things but i just find them inconvenient plus the quality is not that good. they say the one size will fit till toddler years but honestly, after a few washes, they start looking old. the only good diaper I have come accross and totally love is the Motherease One Size(fitted one size diaper). I used it on my elder son for 2 years and they still look absolutely new. Their covers are also as good, very light and contains the mess well. The workmanship is excellent.

  7. this is only based on my experience…maybe different…

Both Jeriel and Ariel got to have the CD well fitted…if loose sure leak..so far Ariel is ok…

  8. You need to read up and survey plus try them on the child in order to find the best solutions to use CD. Both En En and Baby Z are heavywetter and I’m fully on CD and it works well. I use CD on baby Z for long or short outings and disposable diaper as spare. The M size Mamy Poko bought 2 months ago only used 3 pieces… Of course I don’t expect a 3 yr old still use CD as the wee wee volume already like adult but I must say disposable still can be used if the child is not yet fully potty train.
Normally the insert that comes with a pocket diaper is made from microfiber, it is the least absorbent material but better than lampin. Hemp and organic cotton is very thirsty. Baby Z is 3 months old now and when I use only hemp insert it can last from 3-5 hours. Fitted diapers is advised if you have heavywetter. Well, CD needs special care and wash if you wish it looks new. But then again, CD is made from cloth and imagine the clothes we wear everyday, will it be possible to look new everyday?
As for seconds, you can visit Miabambina forum or DiaperAsia forum. Check out regularly as they are many mums willing to let go the CD in reasonable price.
Using CD to fit into your lifestyle and not use CD in order to follow the trend. Let me know if you need any help.
