Can evening bath causes phlegm

Not sure if it is true, but my kids are having lots of phlegm in these few months.

I started evening bath (between 6-8pm) a few months back since the weather recently is quite hot and humid although it rains. I hate to mop the kids as I feel bath is much quicker, and cleaner too. With a cool body, I feel that the kids can sleep better. However they have been getting sick almost all the time, passing from one to another (including QQ).

Then yesterday my neighbour told me that her mum said evening bath can cause phlegm and that strikes me! Probably I should just stop their evening bath immediately and see how if it works.

Any one would love to share their opinion about evening bath?

Sigh….really feel tired…but how come I still could not loose weight as much as effective as taking the Anoretix?

  1. Not too sure if the evening bath can cause phlegm, but my mom do against bath after 7pm. According to the doctor, evening bath is no good for our body especially the bone and can cause arthritis easily when you grow older. As for myself, I always bath close to 12am due to working late. As for the kids, sometimes I do bath them late in the evening during weekend (for Lynn, can be as late as after 8pm) due to their timing problem.

  2. I’m not sure about this, but both my kids take bath very late. Sometimes even at 9 something, if we come back late. I guess it depends on individual, and they seldom have phlegm.

  3. since no one knows if its true, then do try it out & see if it helps in reducing the phelgm. take care!

  4. yeah..the old folks are against bathing at night but i’m not too sure if it causes phlegm. do they sleep in an aircond room? if yes, then maybe it’s dry in the room?

  5. for me, if it is raining, no bath time. only wipe them
if the weather is cold, no bath time. only wipe them.
i think the phlegm is due to the food we take…like oranges.

  6. my kid seldom take bath after 6pm unless we back from travel or else where. Im also not sure if take bath late can cause phlegm.

  7. For babies, try not to bathe them too late. Scared catch cold. Mine bath quite late sometimes. Even for ah boy (2.5yo), I’ll shower him again (w/o soap) b4 changing him into his pjs at 9+.

  8. I grew up with my parents and grandparents very against night bathing.
I don’t bother for myself (sometimes have my shower at midnight) but I’m
paranoid when it comes to my little one. No bathing after 6pm! Guess
there’s no harm being extra careful for things like this.

  9. hmm..i don’t think it’s true. i bath my kids all the time since young till now evening bath. sometimes even at 9pm cause they so sticky!!

  10. I dont think soo…Jeriel bath evening n sometimes late nite if the weather is humid…

  11. i doubt it. i’ve had showers late ever since I was young. No health problems. It might just be that QiQi is in school, and will catch a lot of bugs. And then pass it on. She might not even have the symptoms, until your boys have it.

  12. I don’t think so lar. We bathe our kids around midnight everyday. Yes, that’s right…midnight. And they had been bathing quite late since they were young. As long as they are no air-cond and fan on in the room where they get changed….it should be fine. Just my opinion lar.

  13. We bathe our little boy twice a day since he was only a few months old baby. the 2nd bath for each day is around
8-9p.m.. and no problem at all wor! and somemore he got broncitis leh!

  14. My personal opinion is NO. I think it’s an old wife’s tale. Brandon’s been having phlegm since he was born so I think nothing to do with it. There’s nothing worse than a smelly baby. Also I find that they sleep better after a nice, warm bath. I’ve asked my paed about the phlegm before and he said that it is quite normal for babies up to 6 months old. Can’t remember why precisely…think something to do about a short passageway between the stomach and mouth hence they have phlehm build-up from the milk intake. Also same reason why some babies regurgitate more than others.

  15. i have nvr heard of tis b4. sometimes we oso bath our children b4 we put them to bed sometimes coz they play till sweating unless if the weather is cold then we just wipe them

  16. my kids too have their quick showers at 9pm+. I ever asked their paed, she said ok with warm water.

  17. Doctor advices me to quickly bath them when they have cough & phlegm.
He said not good to bathe too long.
So I guessed evening bath would not be good for them as well.
Try wiping them with warm wet cloth rather than bathing them at night.

  18. I was told by my neighbor that bathing after 5pm (!!) would coz water to go into their lungs. but when I asked the pead, she said it’s ok to bath them at night, just need to make sure they are dried well. And if worried, maybe don’t wash their hair in the evening, in case it doesn’t get dried when they fall asleep.
