Sick maid vs. healthy baby

Thanks to information from Mumsgather, yes, the allergy that I am currently having is called Hives. I notice it grows at night and subside during the day time. I feel like a weresolf!

This morning, my 2 monsters woke up to play at 4am. The patches came out all over again and I was scratching all over my body in itchiness, while having to breastfeed them one by one back to sleep. It is really torturing! Luckily hubby is there to help entertain one baby, while I try to soothe another.

On the other hand, my maid is also sick. But since we need an extra pair of hand, I still need her to help me with one of the baby. This morning, her mouth was so smelly and I told her not to open her mouth when she is with the babies. Now only Baby Zhen alone is well at home. I am so afraid our virus will pass on to him.

Like me too, she has been taking medication for almost 3 weeks. Sigh….

Any tips from parents who have to rely on their maid to babysit there baby when they are working?

  1. Hi Chinnee, I hope you are doing well. My MIL will only let us babysit my nephew and not the maid at home. The maid only comes handy when she wants to bring baby out to buy vege or meat, and the maid hav to ‘ikut’ to carry baby while MIL is driving.

  2. aiyo….yr rashes looked so scarry ler…..hopefully d medicine can help you, it’s really irritating!!
better get d maid to put up a mask bcoz of 2 things ….sick & since so smelly, arghhh!!
think u might hv to consider buying a mouth rinse for her la….rather than torturing u all like that, yikes!!

  3. ooh no!!!! take care ya!

  4. my experience with Indonesia maids are the same, they tend to have smelly breathe … :( get them to drink more water!!

haha i remembered making my maid to brush her teeth 3 times aday !

  5. hi Chin Nee, the “fong mok” could be due to hormone changes or sometime allergy, I experienced it too, long time ago before I got married, tried so many meds from western to chinese all could only stop it temporary, came back again another night, so frustated…

later a friend who is a doctor recommended me to drink the “temu lawak”, in Indonesia they have in powder form, juz add warm water and drink like tea. after took it daily for about a month, I was totally free from the “fong mok”.
can also cook the “temu lawak” by yourself and drink the water.

I have quite a few friends also got this problem and still having it now, what they do is: take med prescribed by their doctor daily…

  6. for your maid, can let her rinse with the mouth rinse, maybe for temporary…

  7. Is it the mattress you are sleeping on that you are allergic too. If yes, better bring it out in the sun.

  8. agreed with jacss, mask & mouth rinse

  9. err… sori, maybe those chewing gums for fresh breath ones?

  10. maybe you should ask her clean her tongue as well when she brush her teeth.

  11. You take care Chinnee.

  12. Since u need her help while she’s sick, get her to wear a mask so that she doesn’t pass the virus to the babies. Get well soon, everybody!

  13. I cooked some “kok fa” for her yesterday. She is much better now. As the heatiness comes from the body, frequent rinsing does not help much. Hope every at home gets well soon…

  14. we r those who have to rely on the maid to look after our children wen both of us r working. my maid n my children will b alone most of the time at home but both of us will b back for lunch and everyday either me or daddy will come back to check on the kids. not easy to gain trust from maid

  15. oh dear…are u having some sort of allergy, that’s why the fong mok? I remember when i was preggy, i had that every other night!! it was due to apple, crazy eh..get well soon.
