Our indoor thief strikes again
Recently our oranges, persimmons and even banana has been dissappearing quick fast from shelves. At first hubby thought I was the one eating them where I thought it was hubby.
This morning hubby was shocked to find the maid sleeping soundly on our living hall sofa when he woke up. As we calculate the fruits last night (to check if she is really stealing), 3 bananas and one persimmons went missing too this morning.
When confronted her, she said she wasn’t feeling well therefore she fell asleep, BUT ON MY SOFA, on QQ’s pillow! When asked her how many banana she took, she said 1, asked again, she said 2 and finally 3!
It is ok if she eats but we really hate it when she lies. Asked her why she lie, she said she forgot how many she ate. Now it begins to make sense how come our dinner dishes portion such as fried chicken wings and fishballs became so small. No wonder I saw part of chicken wings went missing after they were fried.
It was not the seller who gave me less, but it is the thief in my house who has eaten them while she cook! If she dare to steal fruits, she may dare to steal expensive things and money too. My hubby is worried about her throwing out his UGG Mayfaire boots to people of her race outside the fence. So please teach me, how to deal with a maid like her??
you must safeguard your valuables now. keep all in a safe in your room.
I have bad experience of maid stealing jewellery & money..it’s rather traumatic..

be sure to lock your room when you are busy with your kids downstairs.
Threaten to send her back to her agency and when she lies again, really send her back. My agency will actually “teach” (using physical means!!!) the maid for a few days. After that, she will be kuai kuai again. But as a precaution, think you have to stash you valuables somewhere safe. No Choice. Sometimes I set up trap just to see. If it really happens, then I will threaten to call the police. Have to frighten them….I tell my maid stories about how women are tortured and raped in the cells!
another maid issue here……really headache! try to cool down and talk things out with her alone…..to find out wat’s wrong.

for me, i tell my maid. if u want to eat anything, just ask. i’ll get for her. for things i dont want her to eat, i will pre-inform her. i think so far my maid is ok la. she is “enduring” cos her goal of going to US will be very soon. Probably 6-8 months time.
Oh at least your maid do admited she ate it. But not for my friend maid, stealing food is her favourites, she can steal kids’ formula, sweets, even dried prawn too. The worst is she never admit it and still behave the same in the end.
I honestly think it all boils down to her attitude and integrity. I don’t think any amount of scolding and threatening would be of much help. The choice is either to sent her back and apply for another one or be very careful with her, especially when it comes to your babies and valuables. Never easy to deal with a problematic maid. My sister is having the same problem now. Headache everyday.
I don’t really bother what my maid eats. I sometimes close my eyes even if I knew that she’s been taking my food w/o asking me first but sleeping on my sofa and on my girl’s pillow- no way!

stealing for herself to eat still ok..the teruk part is stealing for her “friends” to eat..my previous Indon maid did just dat! She lied, stole and did all the bad stuff..Cannot say they steal wor…cos in their culture it’s their right to take one wor…die or not??? They steal even instant noodles la..so valuables u better b careful lerr.

i hv a maid too and i’ve learnt to close one eye cos my kids n my hse depend
on her. however, touch wood, so far she has been ok. and quite helpful as
well. Like normal human being, they will have their ups n down too….However,
I cannot stand ppl that lie. Maybe you got to do something about it…It could
lead to more serious things if you don’t resolve this with her….
this really sux, ur maid complained she is sick and yet can have such good appetite for food….to me,
i guess she ate too much, that’s why she felt sleepy. Bring her back to the agent for counselling and warning.
Maids story? Never ending huh, now really hard to get a real good maid. Mine one (touch wood) so far for food she will ask first or the one we give then she will eat, so far I have not catch her “steal” our food.
On the money, normally I will spot check the maid’s bag. Can test them out, put some money in the pants pocket, give them to wash, see they will return to you or not. Last time my maid like to keep some coins that drop on the floor or some find in the pocket. I told her, if I ever found any money or coins in her bag means is stealing, I told her she not suppose to keep any money with her.
sigh.. with all those happenings, the last thing you wanted would be a maid problem. Do keep your extra cash and jewelries and other valuables in a safe. Most of my friends who have maids invest in a safe. My BIL almost lost his wedding ring! The maid hid it thinking she has time to get it when she’s going back. Good thing she didn’t get the opportunity to…
call ur agent, they will bring their consultant here to “teach” her…

u mean she was not allowed to eat fruits? have u tell her wat she can n she cant eat? i oso caught my maid lie to us wen we got our phone bill, is not about the $ coz its onli few cents just dat she doesn’t admit she makes local calls… coz we never use housephone to make calls n yet our bill have some local calls, she onli admit wen we told her dat we going to ask for phone listing from phone co and if its true dat she called, we going to send her back to indon… i dun mind her making calls but dun lie la…. sian wen we have to deal wif tis
I wonder if telling her u can c her nose growing longer when she lies will do the trick. hehehe Seriously, I hate maids who lie too. Tell her don’t hv to lie, if she wants anything, jes ask. U’d better threaten her. If she’s caught lying again, u’ll… (do this, do that). Hope she’ll buckle up soon.
Hi, I normally buy a separate meat (once every 2 weeks) and fruits for my maid. I will buy only banana as fruits for her once a week. And tell her that her meat is last for 2 weeks. if she has finished everything before 2 weeks, then, that’s her problem. we dont bother to buy. she can only take the meat we bought for her and cant take our stuff to cook.
She cooked her own food ( breakfast n dinner) in the morning. As we seoldom eat bread. So, we’ll buy 2 loaf of bread for her every week.
That’s the basic food we provide her.

same here with ALL my former maids except for one and only one, and that one last 3 years till her sister died n she went back to take care of her mom. All (except one) stole everything imaginable like free for all buffet spread. All the kids swiss chocolates, (because even when we gave them cadbury to stop them from taking the kids’ ones, it is not good enuf)Japanese individually wrapped chocolates (because Tesco crackers are not good enuf) , nescafe 3-1-in (apparently aik cheong 3-in-1 is not good enuf for them).
One maid once finish off one whole pack of nescafe 3-1-in in 3 days. and our pantry of cookies, biscuites, chocolates, raisins, cranberries, pretzels, etc gets emptied out within days of stocking them. It’s a wonder she dont get a stomach ache. We knew its the maids cos we had cctv. So now we buy in minimal. I can’t afford their expensive taste.
Almost all maids come with the feature of lying & stealing food. We actually made the last maid to sign a letter written by
herself that if we ever find her lying again (despite counsellings and talkings with her previously), her salary will be deducted
which she did try not to lie for a while but in the end something more terrible happened that we decided we do not want
anymore maids.
EeeEee… sound scary!!! Hmmm.. good maid are really hard to come by. “sigh”
