I almost die of heart attack
As my other 2 blogs, decuisine.net and dejourney.net is hosted at Hostican, I decided to move it back here so that access to the site is faster. Although my hosting (that comes together with free domain) has not expired, I decided to sign up with exabyte earlier due to the promotion it is having.
Guess what an IT idiot like me has done? Due to obtaining the EPP code for domain transfer, I was given to sign a cancellation form from Hostican. Mana tau, upon signing it, they cancel my hosting immediately without even letting me to backup and transfer all my database.
*Puff*…I lost everything from my 2 blogs, all database gone into the thin air. Although I wrote several emails to them for temporary access to my previous hosting company, but they said everything is deleted when I signed the cancellation form! (I almost tripped over my cat and ended up with a Plantar Fasciitis!)
So, CP advice me to quickly copy paste all my past postings from my feed while they are still in google. Thank goodness I subscribed to Google Reader and managed to retrieved all postings from dejourney.net. But somehow, all postings from another blog, decuisine.net was not in my feed.
Thanks again to this smart lady, who then again taught me how to cache manually, page by page (cache:http://decuisine.net/?paged=3) from google. When it failed, she pulak taught me how to cache month by month (cache:http://decuisine.net/?m=200807).
Now I have saved everything in Ms.Word so I will need to set up again these 2 blogs from scratch, and then copy paste all posting in again, one by one. Although there is a lot to be done, nevertheless, I am really grateful that at all postings are still with me.
Thanks a lot, CP, you are really my life saver!

OMG! That’s a lot of work! But CP is so smart of knowing how to retrieve all the posts. I think I would be crying if I lost all my blogs.
Wah… luckily u managed to retrieve all the posts. This is the 2nd time I heard Google Reader saved the day.
Thanks goodness you manage to savage all your blogs. I’m sure all those blogs meant a lot to you.
hahaha… finish copy and paste?
Should cancel after the move, not before.
phew! u r lucky to have so many experts around. If for me, sure die….coz no google reader and what cache…dunno how to do oso…. a moron in IT ! ;p
OMG! Glad you managed to save a copy!!!
wah….most info was still in yr cache??? meaning u seldom do disk clean up lor..lucky u..
hmmm i wonder should i be worried cos i m using blogspot…will it go away ar??
Next time you should export a copy first before making any move… I always have phobia that I’ll lose all my posts too… so I’m very kiasu… hehehee
What a terrible web host! I would also die if it happened to my blogs esp A Pregnant Pause since it has posts from whe I was pregnant with Lucas…
Why don’t you create a Wordpress backup file of your blogs? They’d contain all your posts and comments
