Treating cough with orange juice

This is something new to me. All I knew is that orange juice cause phlegm in babies. But I was surprise to find out that it can actually treat cough too!

Medicine from pead does not help much. I was so sad to see my little babies coughing and I will just try any method to see if it works.

Few days ago, my mum’s friend suggested that I try feeding some diluted orange juice to my boys. Surprisingly after just 2 feeding in a day, the boys coughing was totally cured!

Seeing they no longer cough, I no longer dare to give them more as I am afraid it will cause phlegm.

Caution: I just learn that Citrus like orange juice should not be fed to babies below 8 months as it might cause allergy in young babies. If not for their persist cough, I would not take the chance of feeding them.

I almost die of heart attack

As my other 2 blogs, decuisine.net and dejourney.net is hosted at Hostican, I decided to move it back here so that access to the site is faster. Although my hosting (that comes together with free domain) has not expired, I decided to sign up with exabyte earlier due to the promotion it is having.

Guess what an IT idiot like me has done? Due to obtaining the EPP code for domain transfer, I was given to sign a cancellation form from Hostican. Mana tau, upon signing it, they cancel my hosting immediately without even letting me to backup and transfer all my database.

*Puff*…I lost everything from my 2 blogs, all database gone into the thin air. Although I wrote several emails to them for temporary access to my previous hosting company, but they said everything is deleted when I signed the cancellation form! (I almost tripped over my cat and ended up with a Plantar Fasciitis!)

So, CP advice me to quickly copy paste all my past postings from my feed while they are still in google. Thank goodness I subscribed to Google Reader and managed to retrieved all postings from dejourney.net. But somehow, all postings from another blog, decuisine.net was not in my feed.

Thanks again to this smart lady, who then again taught me how to cache manually, page by page (cache:http://decuisine.net/?paged=3) from google. When it failed, she pulak taught me how to cache month by month (cache:http://decuisine.net/?m=200807).

Now I have saved everything in Ms.Word so I will need to set up again these 2 blogs from scratch, and then copy paste all posting in again, one by one. Although there is a lot to be done, nevertheless, I am really grateful that at all postings are still with me.

Thanks a lot, CP, you are really my life saver!

Shop online this year

30.10.08 / best & good / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (0)

Holiday is around the corner. Since it will be the school holiday, I guess there will be lots of people shopping for new clothes and maybe some nice designer costume jewelry very soon from now on. Furthermore there will be a few festive season that are arriving very soon. Certainly not a good time to bring the kids out as there will be a huge crowd at the shopping malls. I guess I will just have to shop online from the comfort of my home to get things for the kids this year. Am going to see if I can find any good bargain from the online store now.

Our indoor thief strikes again

29.10.08 / maid / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (29)

Recently our oranges, persimmons and even banana has been dissappearing quick fast from shelves. At first hubby thought I was the one eating them where I thought it was hubby.

This morning hubby was shocked to find the maid sleeping soundly on our living hall sofa when he woke up. As we calculate the fruits last night (to check if she is really stealing), 3 bananas and one persimmons went missing too this morning.

When confronted her, she said she wasn’t feeling well therefore she fell asleep, BUT ON MY SOFA, on QQ’s pillow! When asked her how many banana she took, she said 1, asked again, she said 2 and finally 3!

It is ok if she eats but we really hate it when she lies. Asked her why she lie, she said she forgot how many she ate. Now it begins to make sense how come our dinner dishes portion such as fried chicken wings and fishballs became so small. No wonder I saw part of chicken wings went missing after they were fried.

It was not the seller who gave me less, but it is the thief in my house who has eaten them while she cook! If she dare to steal fruits, she may dare to steal expensive things and money too. My hubby is worried about her throwing out his UGG Mayfaire boots to people of her race outside the fence. So please teach me, how to deal with a maid like her??

Lucky her!

She was lucky that it was not me who found her sleeping soundly on my sofa. Otherwise I shall ended up messing with the Waco Personal Injury Attorney. I know I should control my temper and keep an eye close as she is here to take care of the babies. Who knows what she will do to the babies when they are out of sight. This is a risk that I know I should not take. All I have to do is just to be patient, for another 18 months until the boys are old enough to play by themselves.

My maid almost burn my house!

28.10.08 / maid / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (30)

Update on our Sunday wedding. Well, QQ totally forgot about it, haha!! Instead we went nearby to do some shopping. Since it was still early and the boys were still sleeping, I got the maid to prepare the vegetables and boil ikan bilis soup out in my wet kitchen for dinner.

Guess what happened? She left the boiling soup on fire and forgot to switch it off! When we got back, my new Zebra Stainless Steel pot is totally BLACK and the fire was still on the stove! Thank goodness my bathroom faucets is still shinning bright!

Thank goodness we only went out for a few hours. Really cannot imagine if the whole thing exploded and my house got burn!

I was so mad as we just bought the new pot a week ago. After several rubbing, the pot base is still black now. I think I shall cut her pay if she cannot get the stain off the pot by tonight!

**fuming mad**

Spend less when we are healthy

27.10.08 / best & good / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (0)

With 2 babies, we really got to spend a lot on medication and even medical equipment. Our medical bills went up so high recently when one by one of us got sick at home. It is really not easy to take care of 3 kids at one time because it will be so difficult to separate the healthy baby from the sick one. Therefore I always need to standby extra medication, just in case they virus pass on from one to another. I even got 2 thermometers to take the temperature of the kids so that they will not have to share the same one.

Award for QQ

QQ usually gets a sticker for behaving well. As I do not wish to spoil her with the Bento Kits that I bought for her, I am using them for QQ’s behaviour award redemption gift. In another words, I’ll keep everything that I bought. From time to time, she has to collect enough sticker to redeem them one by one from me.

With the pictures online, it is so easy to tempt her to behave so that she could get her Cute Picks or Lunch Box asap :)

Ma….I wanna attend your wedding!

Although QQ is already four, she can be very unreasonable at times. For instant, she has a weird dream of me kissing his father at our wedding. Then she woke up crying said I did not bring her along to my wedding.

I tried to explain to her that couples only get married once, and after they have kids, they no longer “Re-married”. But she just refuse to listen, and demand that me and hubby must get married again this SUNDAY! She even planned everything for our wedding, like when to put to fire crackers, what colour gown I must wear, what food should be served and blah, blah, blah……

I guess it is because recently her nanny brought her to witness a wedding from morning wedding until night dinner. That is why, she is dreaming about wanting to attending her own mother’s wedding….

Sigh….don’t know how shall we do again to “Remarried” this Sunday!

Experience with my bento kits collection

Although I hardly do any bento now, I have almost completed my bento kits collection over the months.

Lunch boxes: Kitty Face & My Melody, Mickey & Friends.

So far, QQ only brought bread to school with her lunch boxes. Prefer bigger box as I can place more variety of foods into the container.

Egg mould shape: Kitty, Heart, Star. Egg Tulip cutter and Kitty& Bear Rice Mould

It is easy to shape rice using the rice mould. QQ loves could just eat her plain white rice like that. But for the egg mould, I only used it once as QQ dislike hard boiled egg. Maybe I can use the heart shape egg mould for my nasi lemak dish one of these days.

Cutter for bread, cookie and sausages: Mickey& MInnie, Pooh, Kitty.

Few days back, I made shaped Chinese pasta (”mien fen kau” in mandarin) with them! Shall use them again to bake my first badge of cookies very soon.

Silicon cups. Only used them for jelly. It is cute!

Dividers & Cute Picks

My doubts on bento-ing:

Although I have got an almost completed collection, I am still blur about using these stuffs. Hope to get tips from sifu out there on these:

1. Are bento that I see online mostly decorated for meals at home such as lunch, dinner. Otherwise how do I close them with the picks and stuffs?

2. Good one from Liz. I also find that by cutting out breads or fruits using the shape cutter, we are indirectly teaching our children to eat only the nice part, but discard or worst till, let parents eat the ugly unwanted parts. Therefore I find that cutting bread into shapes is not a good idea after all. Unlike for baking, we can use the pastry and reshape them again. Any tips to help deal with this issue?

3. Although imported from Japan, most of them are made in China. Haha….really can’t help but worry if the plastic can withstand the high temperature, such as making muffins with the silicon cups as on the packing instruction. Personally I think I only dare to use them for decor purposes.

*I got most of the items above from CP’s site (except the Mickey box is from 100Yen shop).

Sick maid vs. healthy baby

23.10.08 / Chin Nee, Parenting, Twins, maid / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (16)

Thanks to information from Mumsgather, yes, the allergy that I am currently having is called Hives. I notice it grows at night and subside during the day time. I feel like a weresolf!

This morning, my 2 monsters woke up to play at 4am. The patches came out all over again and I was scratching all over my body in itchiness, while having to breastfeed them one by one back to sleep. It is really torturing! Luckily hubby is there to help entertain one baby, while I try to soothe another.

On the other hand, my maid is also sick. But since we need an extra pair of hand, I still need her to help me with one of the baby. This morning, her mouth was so smelly and I told her not to open her mouth when she is with the babies. Now only Baby Zhen alone is well at home. I am so afraid our virus will pass on to him.

Like me too, she has been taking medication for almost 3 weeks. Sigh….

Any tips from parents who have to rely on their maid to babysit there baby when they are working?

This is how my red patches look like. They starts out with tiny red dots, and it spread bigger and surface up on the skin like red clouds. Chinese said it is “Fong Mok”, and it comes out for no special reason. My maid said it looks exactly like her pregnancy rashes, but mine is worst, as it spreads all over me, even my face!

The Chlorpheniramine tablets from the hospital does not help, so I called up Dr.Koe and she asked me to take Zyrtec (cetirizine) 10mg instead. After taking one tablet, the rashes started to go away, but this morning, new rashes appear this time all over other parts of my hands and legs.

I really hope to find out what causes this, as it is so unbearable. Hope it will goes away soon…..

**Scratch here… scratch there**…ARGGHHHH!!!!!

Red patches spreading on my body

I had the most horrible night in my whole life yesterday. For the first time, I am allergy to something. My whole body suddenly surfaced with small red dots, then spreading out as big red cloudy patches and I almost die of itchiness! Started break out at 12midnite, and by 4am, I could not stand it anymore so we got to bring the kids, everyone in the car and rush to hospital!

Since I am nursing my boys, I was only given Chlorpheniramine tablets and Calamine lotion instead of an injection. Am still so itchy now!!!!!

Not sure if I was bitten by some insect on bed (or hubby?), but I am very sure I did not eat anything that could possibly cause the allergy prior to that.

Can it be due to hormone change? Sigh….my patient is really being tested these days!

Sleeping with Kakak for a night

21.10.08 / Then (Twin 2), Twins, maid / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (8)

It has been the 3rd day. Baby Then’s fever is under control and he looks better too. But there is still blood in his mucus which I am worry about. Have not seen a little babies who has mucus as bad as this.

I am grateful that at least my hubby is around. He is supposed to attend a training oversea, but somehow, he did not have to. After one sleepless night for both of us (where we have to take turns carrying him to sleep), we left Baby Then sleep in the warmer living room on the 2nd night, accompany by Kakak. At least he could sleep better in the “sarong”. I had better sleep too, although I have to run up and down to feed both of them.

Oh yes, this fella is very naughty. He screams and spits out all the medication although I squirt it very slowly into the side of his mouth. Any good tip to help me feed this naughty little baby?

Baby Then is the weaker baby

During the weekend, our poor little di-di (Twin 2) fall sick again. Although only barely at 4 month old, this is already the 3rd time that he fall sick. Poor baby was so sick that he has got high fever, blood in his mucus, cough, running nose all at one time until he lost his voice. He is so weak as compare to his kor-kor although both of them are feeding only on breastmilk.

Since di-di is thinner and having lesser hair, I can only conclude that Twin 1 has got better absorption of nutrient of my milk as compare to Twin 2. Weird yeah, they are twins but their body system are so different!
