Maid update

Ok, teruk or not me, until today I have not buy the test kit for my maid. She does not look like pregnant to me anyway, so put that matter aside first (can’t really live without a helper, especially now!)

During the weekends, we brought her back to Kuantan. Our trip back was fine until yesterday when we came back. Guess what, she almost puked in our car while carrying one of the twins!

Sensing something was wrong, luckily I was in time to carry the baby away from her and gave her a plastic bag. Can you imagine how furious my hubby was? At least she could have told us earlier without me having to ask her all time. Really dare not imagine what hubby would do to her if she really vomited in his beloved car. Die la…she is so scared of air-con and can “mabuk” during long distance ride, how to follow us back to hometown next time? Sigh…should I invest one term life insurance for her ah?

On the other hand, she can be really helpful. Since the CL left, at least I still get food on my table, house cleaned (but not very clean) and another pair of hand carrying the crying babies (oh, they do always cry, eat at the same time!)

sigh…maid oh maid, how can I live without one now?

  1. for the time being, it seems u need a maid now.
wait till the boys are older, then u plan again.
    meanwhile, please take care!

  2. My neighbor’s maid was pregnant and they sent her back immediately when they found out from the doc. I know it’s going to be touch without a maid, and with twins, but I guess you really have to get her examined. If not, later the tummy gets big, how ah?
BTW, I thought we can get a replacement maid ( I know it’s hard to find new one) by paying some money, am I right?

  3. give her anti mabuk pill next time :) but stil gotto get her tested. At least u can send her back and fast fast get a replacement

  4. Aiyoo… next time go back hometown get those pills for motion sickness wan and make her take before starting the journey la, if puke in car memang teruk wan…

If your maid is just the type who loves her food and that’s why she’s getting plump, then it’s good ma. Can bribe her with food *kekeke*…

    Take care!

  5. This is not uncommon, esp for maids who come from really poor places. My family once had a maid who would get car-sick even for short 10-minute drives. This condition persisted even after 2 years of service. She just couldn’t help herself. Needless to say, we kept her car trips to a minimum. When it was necessary to travel, she always had a plastic bag within reach.

Later on she explained that she was hesitant to bring ‘negative’ attention to herself when she felt sick because
    a) she thought she would survive the trip without puking. After all she hadn’t travelled by car often enough to recognise that she was about to puke.
b)she didn’t want to be thought of as troublesome rather than helpful. Also unsure if we would be angry at her.

It’s important to let your maid know that it would be best for everyone if she speaks up about it to avoid ‘accidents’.

  6. You may want to read this…

  7. Now is critical period. If got extra pair of hands to help out, it definitely lifts some burden off u. Don’t delay too long abt testing her tho. In case it affects ur chances of getting any refund/replacement, etc.

  8. Better than none, use the current maid ’til u can handle ur boys urself then may look for another maid, perhaps?…

  9. Oh gosh, angeleyes!! That story is damn shocking. to think that nobody knows about it and to think that the maid actually killed her own baby and to think that she can still go through life after all this and does her work like nothing has happened!

Chin Nee, close one eye, but be strict with her in certain ways or she will climb over your head. The boys will grow very fast and things should get better. Take care..

  10. set out a schedule / time table for her to follow everyday. hope she can get used to it asap and she will get used to the routine.

i really hope she is not pregnant and you get to keep her for additional help.

  11. Hi,
Not sure if u hv the book ” The Little Contented Baby” by Gina Ford.
It helps me alot when I 1st had my child. It is really a good book. It
does hv some tips on twins as well if I’m not mistaken. Anyway, it
helps me alot and I managed to trained my boy to sleep thru nite
when he is 3 mths and my girl too sleep thru when she is 4 mths.
I think the newer version is ” The New Contented Little Baby Book”.
    Have a nice day:)

  12. Buy her motion sickness pill. It definitely will help her. :)

  13. some people will get motion sickness, one of them was my ex-maid, she has it not only for long distance travelling but also in town, luckily she never vomitted inside our car, what a relief!

do prepare some plastic bags in your car juz in case she needs it…

  14. I also cannot live without a maid.

  15. Don’t worry, when the babies grow up, you will be able to manage them more easily…..hey, old people able to handle dozen of kids alone without problem…he,he….as long as you are determine, definitely there is a way :P

  16. Next you can get the med for her during long journey back. Not to forget to buy some asam to ease her stomach. These are what my friend do for her car sick maid everytime back to Muar.

  17. i can certainly udrstd how furious ‘the man’ is when the maid vomit in their precious car….we sent back our cambodian maid also bcoz we can’t tolerate her vomiting saga……even 5 minutes ride!!
if u still worry abt her being pregnant, then check it out else just let it over (if it’s only a misudrstd’g).
as for yr situation now, an extra pair of hands is a must…..take care!

  18. Oh man. Should keep track of her period, and get her checked asap, just in case.
    Take care! :)

  19. gosh! hope she’s not pregnant! it’s gonna be tough to get a new one and start all those training again! do get her tested so there’s 1 less thing to worry ya…

please take good care ya, try not to be stressed or the milk supply will be less… from my experience.. *hugs*

  20. once u start to rely on maid u can nvr leave without them… sigh…

  21. No matter how much you need her, learn from my bad experience recently. Dont be too dependant on her. Still have to keep an eye on her very very closely or else you will miss out on things which Shireen picked up on her maid. Also never trust them no matter how nice

  22. no matter hw nice they treat our kids. I really regret for trusting her and treating her like my “chi mui”

  23. I guess like anon above said, sometimes they just can’t help it and may be afraid to speak up.

Have you found out whether its just motion sickness or is it morning sickness?

  24. I have one maid like that before. Had to send her back cos I need to chaufeur Kimberly around to school and classes those days and had to pull over half an hour each 15 min car drive. Tried everything surf net for info, but nothing help. somemore got hepatitis B. that was 2 1/2 year ago. till today, the agent still owe me another maid and/or refund. I ask for refund cos its been too long and I had determined to do without maids,(if you only knew what I went through) But glad to know yours is allright except for the vomit issue.
