So many types of Bentong ginger?
Many claimed that Bentong ginger is the best type of ginger used to dispel the wind from the body especially during confinement. However they can be very pricey as compare to China ginger.
Shirley, my dear neighbour who has almost the same EDD as me told me that she could get a 10kg box of Bentong ginger at only RM80. To confirm how genuine is the ginger, I called up my SIL who is also selling it in Kuantan told me that her cost price is already RM90 and it sounds so impossible for us to get it cheaper than her.
Then I called up another ginger vendor and was told that they might be just normal “old” ginger. I was again told there are basically 2 types of Bentong ginger:
- From Bukit Tinggi is RM150 per 10kg (hotter and better)
- From Raub is RM110 per 10kg
Sigh….really making me confuse now. Wonder how much do you all pay for your Bentong ginger out there?
i can’t remember how much i spent in ginger, i have an uncle who has very big farm, he actually planted the ginger for me…as for the chicken, i spent almost RM3k..

I forgot how much I bought previously. If not mistaken RM13 per kg. Now saw market selling RM18 per kg.
You can mix the ginger, Bentong ginger use for cooking and normal ginger for boil red date water or bathing water.
wah…so much ginger…just thinking about it makes me feel so heaty! Hang in there….
Ginger..wine…sesame oil….eeeee……hotter than the sun…..If you are planning to breast feed, can u take so much of these things ??

for bath, we only use the unwanted ginger skin. no ginger for red date drink.

i have taken bentong ginger too. if that price is so cheap, that u hv to be sure that its genuine.
i’ve been taken Bentong ginger for my first confinement…but dunno the price coz it was ordered by my MIL. To be frankly, i found Bentong ginger is better that the normal one…

wah… I learn new things everyday here. I was so blur and scared during my confinement I didn’t want to take much ginger. Because my son had jaundice and I was bf, my friend advised me not to take so much ginger. He was re-admitted for jaundice. But I bathed with the ginger-onion-and-whole-lotta stuff la. That one is gooooooodddd… can still feel the freshness. My next one surely will try the bentong ginger. Now I “masuk angin” and sometimes “naik angin” easily. hahaha.
Take lotsa good food to pow fan ya.
I’ve asked around, I think the market price for this period is around RM14 per kg… unless we order more than 10kgs, which they will drop the price to about RM11 or 12 per kg… I guess it’s always safer to get from people you know or always buy from. I might just get from the vegetable lady at TTDI market coz she told me she will order it for me when I need it, and not earlier… fridge not big enuf to keep 8 - 10 kgs ma keke… if put outside samo sked it will dry up if ordered too early…
i think mine was the normal young ginger.. maybe you should get from your SIL, since you will know it’s genuine…
for my case, i only use normal ginger..cannot take too much too, too heaty lar!

white kind of ginger & the orangy kind. also duno how much we spent,
cus MIL prepare everything. i jus makan jer.
drink a lot of Dom oh. veri good, but i cant take it lah, oni manage to
habiskan more than 1/2 a bottle of it. veri kick man o.O
