First 24hours with a live-in maid
We finally went to collect our long waited maid yesterday after hubby get a new auto insurance quote for his car. She is so much shorter than I expected and quite pleasant looking (will take her photo later. QQ even let her hold her hands the first time hubby brought her out from the agency office.
Upon reaching home, I get her to clean and get ready her own room. Then I brief her what to do the next morning, according to schedule (thanks to Jaz’s schedule guide).
Next morning, I even woke up at 5am to supervise how she works (so torture to have a maid hor!!). My goodness, she cannot even handle a mop, so we gave her a piece of cloth instead to wipe the floor (thinking that she could do better with it). Guess what, she cannot even wipe properly using a cloth (just go left and right) where all the dust still left there! I practically had to show her the right way of wiping, so that all dust is gathered properly instead of everywhere. Luckily Shireen advised me to watch her closely at least for the first few days.
Now we just have to really observe her a few more weeks, before we could let her handle our food and drink.
At least now my house is cleaner, so anyone wish to visit me, haha…..you do not have to worry about ending up leaving my home with a pair of *black soles*.

Have to teach lah…..but if you think of it as an “investment”, then later it will pay off cos she will do things your way. At least she doesn’t pretend that she knows then do her own lousy ways.
having a maid can surely take some of ur burden away.. have to keep on monitor and keep on telling her wat to do coz they tend to b very forgetful… anyway all the best… btw we have not got any biodata yet so we r still struggling wif temp maid
My maid is still pretty hopeless, after so many years with me. Gives me grief whenever I discover she broke this or broke that.. But what to do? She’s a friend’s mother…

Most maids are this blur in the beginning. I don’t use mops at home coz the maid will cincai wash the mop after mopping the floor., I let them use a cloth. At least the cloth can be put into the washing machine to wash and easier to wash by hand too.
U’ve to advise her esp. on the electrical items too. My former maid blur blur wanted to wash my rice cooker but luckily I saved ‘its’ life in the nick of time. She was not really good and didn’t know how to use almost everything in the household when she came and took me some time to teach her. When she left, she was a better cook than me (heehee). U’ll need patience to teach her cos I don’t think she has ever used such modern things in her life.

agent never trained her meh? But having a maid is torturing the initial stage. I too get up at 5 to check on the maid the first few weeks.

wah…it’s good that u have someone to help u. sometimes better to train from beginning and have them do it yourway..then someone who has her set ways!
anyway, pls take it easy k. anything can happen…and i only want you to have a safe delivery.
No offense, but, I think having a maid is added more task for us to do…he,he…like we have to monitor the maid quite frequent to make sure everything is done according to our request…..and in the meantime, need to think of what to ask her to do next, otherwise, she will be too free…..he,he….”extra kid”

and there are still a long way to go, u need to demonstrate every task that instructed her to do, haha…
oh gosh, it will take some time before she settles down… My first maid didn’t wash her hands after going to the toilet and she uses the same towel to wipe the table, the floor and her hands.
Hygiene is of utmost importance especially when dealing with food. Luckily she came in before you pop.
good 2 know that ur maid is here but sad to hear that she’s really blur. hope she learns fast before u deliver.

At least she doesn’t pretend to know what she doesn’t. But I suppose it’s also a learning process for her so take it easy lar.
