ESPRIT or Maclaren
We are still considering whether to get a double stroller for the twins. Side-by-side twin stroller can be quite bulky after fold up, even if it is an umbrella stroller.
Hubby went to check put the new Esprit stroller from Toy’RUs yesterday and they really look good. Furthermore, the price is quite reasonable since there is a promotion going on or maybe I should consider using the Target coupons from online purchase. Currently considering:
- ESPRIT Speed Sun Duo Stroller-Red RM519 (brand new)
- Maclaren Twin RM600 (2nd hand)
But twin stroller are unlike singles whereby the seats are more narrow. We are afraid they will not last long for the boys as they grow and it would be a wastage as they are not cheap either.

- Which model would you choose?

will u b bring ur bb twins out often? else i dun think u need a twin stroller. not easy to bring 2lil one n qq out kai kai… until now my girl oredi 1yr+ im still afraid of goin out together wif my boy
To be frank, I will choose Maclaren. I bought few strollers for my son earlier but he doesn’t like it after use 3-4 times. However, he like Maclaren that i bought for him, i found that Maclaren materials much more comfortable & better quality compare to other brands.
i prefer Maclaren too.
anyway, just make sure that the seat can be recline individually and the fabric is comfortable and not hot.
Twin strollers look so adorable! I’d say get it…whichever one you choose. I don’t know what they each look like so I can’t comment, but the Maclaren is a well-renowned brand.
Look at it this way, you can always sell it off as second hand after you no longer need it.
I suppose it depends on whether you plan to have frequent outings, to malls or parks… and whether the boys will be active or not… eg baby zen is very active that he just can’t sit still in his stroller
However, looking at the prices, it’s quite a bargain ya… so maybe could get one.. how many years old is the 2nd?
Maclaren brand produced one of the most durable strollers in the market, so go for it. Esprit on the other hand, is just a branding, they are no pro-stroller makers, and you might not be able to get spare parts for it just in case it get spoil.
And since you’ll be having twin boys, you sure need one. Furthermore, if you’re thinking of your boys sitting quietly in the stroller when they’re 2 or 3 years old, then think again. Boys are much more playful than girl (QQ). They might want to run around or even help you push the stroller. So don’t worry that they’ll outgrown it. Another point for Maclaren twin here.
Alicia
yeah…that is what I am thinking off too…..just put them with kakak at home, haha!!
Michelle
I also think the same, but quite pricey lol…
CP
talk about recline individually, must really check that out! Tx!
Joyce
yeah..i told my hb the same too…
Sting
I think it is about 4 yrs old…will find out more
Leena
that is what I am afraid of also…buy stroller but push only groceries…sigh…
Depends on how often you want to go out, and if the twins want to stay in the stroller. Bryan was never a stroller fan and it is only now that he wants to sit in the stroller. So now when we go out, bb Dylan is in our arms and Bryan is in the stroller. If that is the case, might as well save the $$.
I would propose not buy now, and wait till the twins come first. Then see if they enjoy being in the stroller, if they are ok, then baru invest. If the 2nd one no longer available, then just get brand new Esprit lo.
good that u have this thought in mind & got all d advices/ideas ahead!
i made the WRONG decision during my time.
shouldn’t have bought it too early bf proper consideration….my huby jumped into getting a twin pram
(side by side) in Australia during my confinement cost a bomb too ard RM600++ (sorry forgot d brand)
then we started to discover that it was too bulky+heavy to handle (even for my huby), and i can frankly tell u
that i can’t handle it myself!
so each time we go out, we will have to think & consider whether to bring d pram along or not….it was a
hard to reach decision each time….
if it’s a big one that u will be getting, u can only take the lift in d shopping mall/any other complexes as
the escalator is too small to fit…even if it can squeeze it will be dangerous to do so!
so this point has further prevent me from bringing out the pram…..sigh !!
finally, i find that pushing a twin pram in a public place is a bit distracting….it attracted unnecessary
attention…so there’s lacking of privacy…though it’s proud & happy seeing all d happy faces looking at yr
twins but u won’t like too much of that i’m sure !!
if u asked me this question now (that my twins r already 5+), i’ll say get 2 single pram…since i’m pretty sure
u will have at least 2 pair of hands when going out with the twins…it’s much easier to handle.
the best is of course if u can find those 2 single prams that can be attached & detached as & when u like….
but think it’s hard to find here….some more must be very exp’ve !!!
still it’s up to yr preference in d end…..just don’t rush now, u babies will only be using it at least during their
full-moon !! hope it helps you…………
oh ya…i also wanted to share with u….that luckily later in time (when my boys were ard 3+), we managed
to sell the twin pram off….at half the cost….hahaha !!!
Shooi
thanks for your tot. It is a great idea indeed to wait n see, after they are born. no hurry anyway
Jacss
hehe…u read my hb’s mind. he wants to enjoy all the attention on the twins in public, not sure if he wud like it, if too much of it, haha…
on the stroller, it wud be good if here we can easily find those attach/detach as we one…but not much of choice la…sigh….hb said the twin stroller quite heavy also
i will surely choose a maclaren. Maclaren stroller are of good quality and durable too. I bought my girl a new maclaren b4 CNY despite the fact that our Graco is still new and good. Because the korkor also want to sit on the stroller, we need to get 1 that can take his weight. Maclaren can take up to 25kg.
Since the Great Singapore Sale is on this coming school holiday, you may want to check out the prices here. I paid about SGD320 for the stroller. It may be cheaper during the Great Sale.
If I were you, I’d go with the twin stroller but wait, if possible, until the twins are a bit older (unless you plan to go out after they’re 1 month old).
I’m not sure if Jacs has other children too - I quite like her suggestion BUT thinking about having 2 strollers to open/close.
I’m a MacLaren fan too - excellent design, quality, materials. I love mine because it’s LIGHT! You can read about it here: MacLaren Volo
Plus, men just LOVE totting the stroller around - I can tell you that I get volunteers all the time LOL. It’s an F1 brand compared to Esprit, which is famed for women’s apparel?
My SIL didn’t get a twin stroller and juggled both kids between them and the maid. They also didn’t allow them to run about, which is unbelievable, for boys. They’d preferred to just ‘force’ them to stay in their arms…you can imagine the screaming and yelling that goes on.
I think your Hubby will be happy (as he is already) to handle the twin stroller. I also think he wouldn’t dream of not bringing both out at the same time. Who wouldn’t? They’re so special!
Anyway, bigger issues like health, giving equal attention to both (and QiQi) plus the comparisons people make of them will boggle your mind…
Good luck with your choice but it looks like MacLaren will win this race
hehe..i am also thinking of getting a twin stroller and now i have to make a choice of either the esprit or maclaren.
pretty much torn decision, same like you.
my son is coming to three and my daughter is coming to two and they both riding in stroller. we have separate strollers since hubby isn’t keen on getting twin stroller. he thinks it will be difficult to handle in public lah.
until, they both refused to let him push either one of the stroller and i have to end up pushing two separate strollers instead!
and if i am alone, i put both of them in the combi stroller. it used to be fine, until my son put on more weight and i have to tahan the pram from falling backwards 99% of the journey.
anyway…
i did try my two toddlers on the maclaren three times and they seem to love it..since it is sidebyside..
i did try them on the tandem (frontandback) but as soon as the younger one was carried out from the tandem, it toppled backwards. couldn’t carry my 1st son’s weight!
i also tried them on phil&ted’s sports…and they seemed to like it. but p&t damn expensive. sigh..
so good luck to both of us for making the decision!! hehe….
haha..ohmygod! i didn’t read the date on that post.
sorry..
so which did you end up with?
[...] my twin stroller, thanks to Roseaida who drops by and leave me a note. From my past posting, ESPIRIT of MacLaren, we finally got MacLaren twin stroller for the boys. In the beginning of our outings, we always [...]
do not buy the esprit stroller..mine is broke already and i just used it for like two years only..go for the expensive one as it will last longer and believe me..as ur kids grow older they’ll learn to sit on the stroller and they’ll love to sit on it..plus the esprit is two wheel drive compared to maclaren which is four wheel drive
