Should I decide on the options of birth control now?
I am so tired these days until no mood for anything. With a huge belly, I feel so heavy and lazy like a snake. Just wanting to sleep at all time. Was wondering if the Botox for migraines can really help me
Anyway I went to HUKM for my check up again yesterday.
Hyperthyroidism
- good news is that my thyroid level is back to normal. But the endocrine specialist increased my daily dosage for thyroxine, stating that it is good for babies’ brain development. Got such thing??
Long term birth control options
- IUD (device placed in uterus) - although it is cheap, but I don’t like the side effect
- Single rod implant (on arms) - expensive, but also with side effect
Permanent birth control
- tubal ligation (tie the tube fallopian)
Since my EDD is near, I think it is time to decide on the options of birth control now. Although tubal ligation is best as there will not be any unlikely “accidents” or side effects (maybe I am not sure), but what if we want to try baby girl later when we can afford to have children again since we are still young?
Anyone can advise or share personal experience on this?

Glad your thyroid level is back to normal. Haven’t think for the birth control. But many friend of mine using IUD.
“but what if we want to try baby girl later when we can afford to have children again since we are still young?”
Since you ask this question than you should not do tubal ligation I think.
sorry, can’t help this time…
what side effect can the IVD causes? hmm.. my gynae don’t advise me to do all this unless i already have my 2nd baby o.O
IUD and rod implant is ok, I have a fren who had the rod implant in her arms, it can last for yrs, but not for me coz i tend to hv keloid.
IUD is ok, but u need to go see gynae to check from time to time i think coz it might drop lower and u will get pregnant.
tubal ligation is permanent unlessu r sure u dont want anymore kids
the most easiet part is - condom….. unless u want to take birth control pill but there is side effect too….
I opt for the most natural way (if accident, I also don’t know how!!)
Most of my friend go for Single Rod Implant, they said more easy and if wanted baby faster, then, just go and take the thing out…..for me, natural way…he,he…
Me too, natural is better laa..Chin Nee, get private gynea’s advise and see how. Take Care
IUD is ok, but pls don’t opt tubal ligation.
I would like to suggest the natural Billings Ovulation Method. Takes some effort, but there are no side effects. Email me if you wanna know more, okay?
if you thinking for no4..then tiub ligation is totally out
if you plan to stop, you can opt to c-section + tiub ligation which some of my friend did it…
On other method, hard to comment because never use any …only condom..
birth control pill choose yasmin. Can help to reduce water retention and wont get fat like other pills.
If u dun plan for no4, then potong la.
think you have to decide whether u still mahu kid or not…else how to make decision wor…
I’m scare to go for all those. The best to get the man to do their part. Use condom? LOL
My gynae advise not to do the permanent birth control until a certain age. He said it is not reversible. Go for other safe method first. For me I use my period cycle because my cycle is pretty accurate.
i think u better check with private gynea about the thyroxine dosage.
For me, tubal ligation is not an option. So, think carefully before deciding. I thought of IUS but have not decided. To read more about IUS, go to:

IUD got what side effects? Yeah, better talk to a private gynae.
since you have plans for another baby girl, maybe you should keep your options open. You’re still young, so don’t hurry yourself into long term birth control. Stick to condom or play-it-safe.
I have done No.3 and that’s because I was super certain about my decision. I wanted to have it done immediately after giving birth to my 2nd one and hubby was pressured out of doing it as gynae said we were young, bla bla bla and all that crap. He bought the story and instead of one time pain, I had to go back a few months later to have the procedure done. Tell me about feeling like kicking his a**
Bottom line is, be VERY SURE if you choose No.3. Else, try other options first. I’ve also tried the rod implant before. The pro is I did not get periods but occassional spotting only.
Tx for the sharing. Wow….the rod surely mess with the hormone yeah
just use the rubber loh.
Since it’s also safe.. and no need medical procedure.
takut accident mah…..
i don’t have any experience of all the above birth control method. if u r thinking to have the forth one, of course u shouldn’t opt for tubal ligation! force hubby to use condoms la…. i’m interested to know more about what giddy tigers mentioned above.
hehe……expensive mah….and troublesome!!
I thot abt the rod implant after giving birth to CE. But when gynae mentioned that there’re some side effects (depends on individuals), I procrastinated till now. Yeah.. agree with all, if there’s an IF, then don’t go for tubal ligation.
oh…..got such side effect??
I use IUD once but only for several months.. it is not convinient enough for me.. yeah I agree with some comments here.. use condoms.. we are thinking about vasectomy instead as our birth control… but not yet do it..:-)
also have the same tot, Trin
Natural prevention is still the best i supposed…
hi, a simple Pink Heart Tag for u. Happy weekend!
tx Hazel, thats sweet of you
like everyone else, i also advise u against going for option 3 SINCE u still have a thought of no.4….
wah….u really geng lar, at this stage stil can think of another bb girl…….fuyoh !!!
good luck though..
i think i must be crazy liao, Jacss !
IUD, me scare lah, and didn’t have all the birth control…but i dont want to take pill, use condom is the easy way but most men don’t like it ler…hehe
haha…yeah…u r right!
what about getting ur hubby to do the vasectomy instead???
still got risk though…he can sleep around with other ladies n he wont get in trouble impregnating them.
better than having me suffer lol….
How about some hormone jab? My friend takes it every 6mths. Don’t go for the arm implantation - my colleague just had hers removed cos it caused her period to go haywire ….
sounds scary when it mess up our hormone
hmm.. sorry won’t be good help here.. maybe google for info? or ask a few more gynae?
will be seeing gynae soon too for this matter :p
Hi there.. I believe this is my first time and am already liking what I’m reading. You have a fantastic site full of nice entries.
Secondly, congrats on your twin.. this must have been one of great joy to you and your hubby
Thirdly, with regards to the birth control, I wouldn’t know coz I am trying to have a baby lol.. but I think whatever it is.. it is always better not to have anything permanent done to you like ligation.. you’ll never know if you and your hubby might have a change of heart later
Cheerio and have a great weekend
Hi LadyJava tx for dropping by. hope u like it here. glad to know another blogging friend.
been on pill for 12 years now, so far i’m good, but then again no person is the same.
must remember to take them daily?
I was at the same position as u when I deliverd my gal last 2 years, but finally I decided not to do the tubal ligation juz in case like what u said …
haha…really scared regret hor….
i was actually contemplating on the implant in the arm as my gynae said that has minimal or no effects wor…but then again…just don’t have sex during the fertile period lor…
hah…..dats quite risky lol
Ligation will make woman grow older/dry up faster due to hormones. I not 100% certain but there are cases. In western world, like my husband side, usually the men will go for the procedure. It’s painless and no side effect.
oh dear, really? westerner hubby is sporty yeah…unlike Asian men
