The Orange Team

30.04.08 / Hubby, QQ / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (9)

QQ was wearing her playgroup T-shirt by Sg.Long Buddhist Society while Papa had to wear orange (to replace red) for the Ops Alih Batu last Saturday. Read more about our important mission posted earlier HERE.

With a pair of sunglasses on each, Papa and his only girl look really funny!

I am suppose to get a new pair of sunglasses but due to the limited budget (after QQ done her expensive Chicken Little specs), we have no more allocation for mummy to look cool. I rather spend money on Parmigiani watches instead!

Our Ops Alih Batu in Berita Harian today!

29.04.08 / Neighbourhood / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (11)

Some of you who read the paper might notice that residents in Sg.Long / Cheras area are recently “hoo-hah” about the opening of an access road between the 2 tolls in Jalan Cheras Highway.

In addition to that, there is another smaller issue nearby where some residents from another housing area are blocking our access into their housing area by putting some BIG rocks in the middle of a proper laid road.

Our residents were not very happy with our neighbour housing residents illegal actions and therefore we hired a backhoe loader ourselves to have the rocks removed since the police/the local council are not doing anything.

See some hilarious photos taken last Saturday :

Our Ops Alih Batu (Rocks Remove Operation)!

Rocks removed, GOOD JOB!!!!

Finally I get a chance to talk to Wai Han, my dear friend who is also a certified HypnoBirthing Childbirth Educator.

while QQ plays with Xin-E in the cardboard boxes

Came back from Melaka on Friday afternoon, QQ and I headed straight to her house while hubby goes into his office for a few hours.

She is kind to share to me some tips to relaxing childbirth. We even watched some water and home birth videos of delivery of twin babies (until my QQ watched until her eyes and mouth wide open!)

I guess she somehow sense the tension in me and with just some positive reinforcement sharing, I am now more confident with my pregnancy. All I have to do is just to be more careful and accept my body to let the body reacts naturally to the pregnancy (that include asking the twins to cooperate with mummy this time!)

Positive effects on me:

  • I sleep better now
  • I feel happier after communicating with the babies
  • Even the babies are more cooperative with me

Thanks Wai Han for your help!

Disney tour

My nephews are really lucky! At such young age (still schooling at the moment), they are now on vacation in Tokyo with their mummy. Their mum even allocated some money for each of her princess expenses during their stay there. The girls are now probably getting heads over heals with the Mickey and Minnie!! It has been four days since they went there, and I bet they would really love the cool weather in Japan. I bet after this trip, they would find ways to get the discount Disney World tickets and dying to visit the Walt Disney, which is even much bigger, in fact, the biggest Disneyland in the world.

If you are looking for great bargain on your new baby’s cot mattress, do quickly go grab from Babyland SS2, thanks to info from Chanel.

  • Lollipop 28″x 52″x3″ (RM299 RM199)
  • Safe N Sound 28″x 52″ x 4″ (RM399 RM299)

This special sales came just in time when I was looking for a new latex mattress to replace the old coconut husk mattress that QQ is currently sleeping in. RM100 off for all latex mattress (Lollipop, BumbleBee, SafeNSound)

Coconut husk bedding:

  • does not suit her as she has great sinus.
  • some green mold has grown on the surface of her mattress after several wetting since the cover cannot be taken out to wash.

Benefits of latex mattress:

  • Helps prevent suffocation
  • Non-allergenic
  • Will not lose it’s shape
  • Never needs fluffing, does not need to sun

I was so excited that I even forgot to get a mattress protector for the new mattress. Anyone going there again, let me know yeah!

A new watch?

25.04.08 / best & good / Author: chinneeq / Comments Off

I used to love nice watches and even have a collection of them when I was in my teenage years. Although I cannot afford expensive Swiss watch at that time, I will buy nice and cute looking watch regardless of brands as a souvenir. I still have some of them with me now, but most of them are not working anymore. Read the rest of this entry »

Hidden Treasure

This is how my Chicken Little looks now, just like her little cousin.

Don’t you think it looks more like a magnifying glass than specs? When I look at her eyes, and it is sad to see the beauty of her eyes have been covered up and instead she looks like a “fly” with the bigger eyes :(

She does not feel comfortable wearing glasses and she would take off her glasses the moment I picked her up from school. Furthermore, the heavy weight of the glasses is pressing against her nose although we already have it done super slim as her long-sighted degree is too high.

I am sad to see it leaves marks there and wonder will she has low nose since her developing nose bone is still growing.

Nevertheless, I suppose it is a blessing that we find out about her condition now and not later. Also we cannot forget the moment of amusement and happiness when QQ first sees her pores on the skin when she first put on her glasses at the Optometrist.

Thanks to all who shared their experience and express their concern towards QQ’s condition.

Results of our 2nd findings

Last Saturday we went for a 2nd opinion with another Consultant Optalmologist. He confirmed our first finding was accurate but we were disappointed with the way he casually diagnose QQ’s situation.

QQ’s condition: Hypermetropia of 950 degree

Paediatric Ophthalmologist corrective action:

Use glasses of 800 degree (differential of 150 degree only). As kids muscle is flexible, they can adjust quickly to the new condition and most importantly, the eyes must be treated as soon as possible before it is too late (brain cell almost stop develops/develop slowly by the age of 6 and the eyes nerve could die off and into lazy eye.

Normal Ophthalmologist corrective action:

Use glasses of 600 degree. Emphasis on gradual adjustment by only using 2/3 from the actual condition so that the child can slowly adjust to the change and would not be dizzy with the dramatic change. Tell us that is it in fact good to let her be a bit short-sighted so that it could cure her long sighted which we really cannot accept at all.

Children especially babies are at the growing stage, and their eye muscle and brain work differently from an adult. Therefore going to the right Ophthalmologist that is familiar with children’s condition is very important.

2 VERY Important Issues when you bring your child for a check up:

1. Going to the right Ophthalmologist for your child

Our very few Paediatric Ophthalmologist that I know of:

1. Goverment: UMMC (Prof Visvaraja S.,Dr Choo M.M., Dr Nurliza K.)
2. Private: ISEC (Dr.Choong Yee Fong)

Dr.Choong is very good with the kid (I supposed all Paediatric is Phsiologically trained to handle children) and gave us a very thorough explaination on QQ’s eye situation. Furthermore, ISEC has got a proper set-up room with eye stimulation toys and lighting to test the kids vision.

2. Getting a good Optometrist who is experience in handling children’s glasses

Wearing the suitable glasses (with high accuracy measurement and angle of the lenses is very important. Best if your eye specialist could recommend a good one. We were very lucky to find a very good one Optometrist that can even “communicate well” with children (even my super fussy hubby admit he is that good)

Name of shop: YK Leong (also name of the Optometrist)
Location: Damansara Jaya (just facing the entrance to Giant Supermarket at Wisma Atria).

What I wish for Mother’s Day

21.04.08 / best & good / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (3)

Thanks a lot for the lovely tags sent to me in conjunction of the coming special event, Mother’s Day. I really got to apologise for owning so many tags at this moment, and now I am wondering if I ever get to update my blog later when the babies are out.

Nothing is greater than the sacrifice of being a mother, and now bearing with two babies in my tummy, I can feel how tiring it is being called a mother. That is also the babies are not out yet at this moment and I am already like a half dead hippo. I just hope to spend some quiet time at home with hubby and QQ during this Mother’s Day and if he could just send me something nice like our wedding flowers, I would be very happy.
What’s my wish for this celebration? Well, I wish I could have a safe delivery this time and my babies will be fine.

Precious Moments of Twin Pregnancy

See the obvious need for treadmills?

I finally had my pregnancy moments captured, thanks to the suggestion and fantastic idea of this fantastic photographer. It is indeed good to capture the precious moment of my pregnancy, since I bet this would also be my last pregnancy.

I always thought that being a pregnant, I would certainly look very ugly with a balloon face and hippopotamus body like that. But this superb photographer managed to turn my pregnancy into something so beautiful! Thank you so much, Jazzmint!!!

There are more to come, and I really cannot wait to see all the portraits, especially the family ones once they are ready.

Another tough decision to make

Yesterday we went to my gynae at private hospital to check the progress of the twins.

Pregnancy at 28weeks:

    • Each baby weights about 1.2kg(right weight according to info from babycentre)
    • Heartbeat normal
    • One head is positioning down (high chances of normal birth)
    • As the weight is double and pushing down, they are now laying quite low.

Due to double of weight and size, the gestational age on the scan already show that the uterus maturity of 36 weeks currently. Normally for such cases, my private gynae would:

    • would prescribe daily medication up to 36 weeks to stop early labour, just in case it happens
    • give steroid injection to mature the lung of the babies upfront

But because I would be delivering in a government hospital this time, my gyane dare not take the risk and interfere with this pregnancy.

On the other hand, the doctor at HUKM prefers to go as natural as possible, they do not encourage any sort of medication for twin pregnancy even though after I discussed with them.

  1. Do I, as a pregnant mother have the right to choose to take the medication privately at my own risk ? Should I take precaution while I still have the ability to control the situation? I do not wish history to repeat again as I had enough trouble with my previous baby.
  2. Or, should I just not do anything but go naturally and leave this pregnancy as natural as possible and let God to decide what’s best for me? And then blame myself for not taking any action should anything happen to them?

Am really tired with so many things to consider right now. Please tell me what would you do given in my situation?

Having battle with so many challenges at one time, I think I am going crazy and soon having wrinkles all over my face. Must really do a wrinkle cream reviews now to sort for the best help.

Or I think I really need to see a psychiatrist!

Importance of proper recycling

20.04.08 / best & good / Author: chinneeq / Comments Off

Finally we won the opening of an access road to the Cheras highway after battling with the authorities for years. Although the road is still not surfaced properly, many cars are actually using this road since it is much more nearer to the highway. Since many cars have been diverted to this road, it really helps to clear the traffic on the main road accessing to our housing area. That’s how powerful of the voice of the people. If only the illegal auto recycling activity here in our area could register them like the midwest auto recycling and run it at a suitable place instead of turning one of our home here into a junk, I guess our residents here would be very happy.

Qi almost can’t see

Our heart sank yesterday with the findings. We did not even realise this set of beautiful active eyes of our little girl almost can’t see since she was born. She is having very rare high degrees of Hypermetropia (long sighted of 950 degree) which can cause Ambylopia (lazy eye) if not treated by 6 years old. We were both too silly not to suspect anything amiss earlier when our girl has such behaviour:

  • over timid and got frightened at very slight sound (she must have extremely sensitive hearing)
  • always look at things too near (be it books or computer)
  • walk tip toeing until now (as she can’t even see the level of the floor or balance herself)
  • does not enjoy TV or cartoon much since young, even though with the best theater seating in cinema.
  • have tendency to vomit so frequently (probably due to dizziness??)

Blamed it on us for agreed to our gynae to induce her delivery as soon as she reaches 36 weeks (when she stopped moving)? Blamed it on that this baby stopped growing in womb as my amniotic fluid was too low? Blamed it on the fact that I failed to carry her healthily that she was born an IUGR baby? Blamed it to stupid inherited eyesight genes which we still couldn’t figure out who else had it besides her little cousin?

I see little kids and even a baby with a tube from throat that seek help on eye treatment when we visited the Paediatric Ophthalmologist in ISEC yesterday. My mind is blank now. I cannot think of anything anymore. Even the babies in my womb now are having a high risk of the same problem and will required to go through the eye test by the time they reaches 3 month-old.

Hubby is too sad by the facts. Our girl has been living in a very blur world for 4 years of her live. She has not even seen mummy’s face clearly until today. Hubby said we should not have kids if we are not medically fit to have babies or be parents after all.

I am closing the comment as I could not bear to read any comment now. However I understand your kind concern. We will seek a 2nd opinion and do another test with another Ophthalmologist tomorrow.
