Not this maid

30.03.08 / maid / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (25)

Thanks to Wen, I went to visit the maid agency she recommended and had a good comparison between each maid agency. I even had a chance to view a few “arrived maids” and like one of them, who is 40-yr-old. Why I like older maids:

  • This maid had a 4-year working experience in Saudi (meaning she could already do some basic housework)
  • All her kids grown up meaning she don’t have to worry about them anymore (even a granny now)
  • Seperated with husband (I gather she won’t miss her hubby?)
  • Unlikely to runaway with the illegal workers

The only thing hubby do not want to take her now is because

  • She has got very lousy teeth (uneven and some even dropped liao, as if got gums problem)
  • Too early (if we take her, meaning she will come to our home in 2 days time and she will have nothing to do but look at me and QQ sleeping all day)
  • QQ refuse to let her go near

Whatever it is, I believe God plan the best for me. There must be a reason why my fussy old man doesn’t want this maid. Just hope I would be able to meet another better one when we go there again 2 weeks later.

Getting hot with SEO

Blogs are really getting popular today and we see that more and more political icons are even starting to have a blog on their own. This morning, I just help another mummy to create another blog as she hopes to update about herself and her two children so that her working far away husband could always read about them everyday. Even when I want to search for some information, especially food recommendation, I would rather hunt for the keywords that lead me to some blogs rather than the business website itself. See the power of blogging right now?

Condo living

Who says living in the air cannot be as luxury as living on the ground? Last time we always have this thought that it is more expensive to live on ground. But now, even the high rise luxury condo like the Apogee Condo South Beach can be as luxury as those huge houses built on land. With the amenities, and the great view, it is indeed quite pleasing to live high in the air. Probably you would enjoy less noise and air pollution from the ground level? Not to mention the high security that is provided if you prefer privacy living.

Cool blinds

The weather is getting dry these days. Although there is rain sometimes, but the raindrops is so little that it can hardly even wet my car porch. Ended up, it makes us feel more hot and humid. I see lots of houses facing east and west having lots of problem with the direct sunlight. Some neighbours of mine had to hang beautiful Wooden Blinds in front of their house to prevent the sunlight from going directly into their window.

I feel more comfortable to stay indoor than to going outdoor, thank goodness to the Roman Shades on my window and the Window Shutters. Otherwise a cool shower during the daytime could really help to cool down my body.

What a day!

Heck, blood is dripping again everywhere on the floor and I think I frightened my dear girl today….

I do admit I am still angry and upset from the cold war with hubby over his stupid car, and wish he could return my little Atos back to me and drive his stupid car to work instead. But I am not so stupid to kill myself over that stupid incident….just that I accidentally slashed my finger while cutting the fruits this morning!!! *Oouch**

What a day today as QQ developed high fever with her mouth full of ulcers out of all the sudden. My fault also as I should not bring her out yesterday afternoon as the weather was so HOT yesterday!!!

Since I do not have anything to wrap the wound (hoping it could dry up soon also), a little pressure made the blood came oozing out again and stained her towel while I shower for QQ ….*so geli*…..

Just realised we do not have any First Aid, not even a plaster at home….what a lousy home maker I am :(

Any advice where to get a small set for the kids in future?

Going back to job, nah…

It is funny to see how we all influenced each other online. A lot of mummies that I know now beginning to leave their glamour daily look and high paying job just to be a plain looking Stay-At-Home-Mother. It is not an easy decision to make for most, including me, but despite being had to cut down most of our expenses, I have no regret on the decision I made two years ago. I know I would not go back to the corporate world anymore. Even if I decide to work again later on when my children are all grown up, I would still prefer to run a business of my own and be on my own.

Don’t Hold on to Anger

Can you see the dot?

Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned. —- Buddha (563-483 B.C.)

I like the phrase above. It reminds me of 2 kinds of people in the world.

Type 1:

He learn to see what is the benefit of having that dot on the paper. He could draw a nice picture out of the dot. He appreciates that he still have lots of nice clean space that is available in his life, and he still smile, not letting the dot bother his happiness in his life.

Type 2:
Unfortunately, some people choose to hold on to their anger, blaming people who messed up their piece of white paper that make the dot seems bigger to them than it actually is. They sleep by having the dot on their mind, they wasted one whole beautiful day just because of one dot, forgetting they still have lots of nice clean space to draw in their life.

We have so many types of people in this world. But what if you have to live with someone of Type 2, that happened to be your loved ones, who choose to live by the flaw? Argghh….isn’t it irritating??

I feel so lousy and sluggish everyday. Probably have to do the colon cleanse to keep my positive energy going :p

It would be great to be able to travel far away while we are still young and energetic. The further I went to was Hong Kong and Japan, although I wish I could afford to travel further to some other countries. One place that I would really love to venture is Europe. I think I was practically being influenced by a friend who stayed in Germany for more than five years who came back with lots of nice photos when she and her hubby travelled around Europe for sight-seeing. Solution with greeting problem

Thanks all, for your help and solution on how I can guide my girl to learn to greet.

It really hurts me a lot, as a mother, to see my own child so sad over this little issue due to the adult’s pressure.

Unfortunately, not every adult (especially our close relatives) can understand how little issue like that can be traumatic for little growing up toddler, who tends to become shy as they grow and aware their surroundings.

However, ignoring and just let her be the way she is isn’t a solution as she has to grow up and facing the world. Nor does threatening helps.

With more patient and time, I spoke a lot to her on this matter these 2 days, softly and heart-to-heart. She seems to understand now the importance of greeting people she meet. There is some improvement today, and she begins to greet her nanny and her hubby again (*softly*) when we went there in this evening.

I will coach her closely again, and at least get her to greet her teachers the first thing when she reaches school in the morning.

Hope this time when she goes back to hubby’s hometown, she would master her manners well.

Groovle

When I first started to use the internet, I only knew about sending and receiving emails through hotmail and then search information from the internet from msn or yahoo. I remember msn used to be very famous and informative and then yahoo came into picture, it took over and became one of the most popular search engines online. Surprisingly with the launched of Google, everyone seems to turn to Google after that. Even most of the SEO and online marketers uses the Google Page Rank as a measurement to site popularity.

One reason why I love to use Google is because it is very informative and loads very quickly since it does not have much unnecessary advertisement shown when we use Google search. But instead of seeing just a white and blank Google page with just a colourful GOOGLE word on the main homepage, we can now even create a unique Personalize Google homepage. There are lots of custom made homepages samples to choose from or we can even load our own favourite photo) on Groovle Google Custom Search Homepage. Isn’t that something new and interesting? I bet in no time, Groovle homepage will be a great hit in the internet world where each of us will have our own custom Groovle homepage in no time.

Fun in Disney

26.03.08 / best & good / Author: chinneeq / Comments Off

My nieces are going for a luxury travel again and this time, they are going to visit the Disneyland with the Discount Walt Disney World Tickets. I guess they must be very excited and happy by now with the travel preparation. Not only they will have a chance to witness the fun and excitement in the fun land, I think they would not able to resist spending lavishly for Disney stuffs. I still remember when I first visited the Disneyland shops, I just could not stop myself from spending and getting everything I want from Disneyland. How to resist those cute junk food and souvenirs, you tell me!

Passed down treasure

25.03.08 / Baking/Cooking, Households, QQ / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (20)

See what I found when we went back to hubby’s hometown this time?

It may be just a junk or a useless stone for most, but to me, it is a passed down treasure :)

Unlike modern blenders, I prefer the taste of traditional pounded food, especially chilli as it is more smooth and even. Furthermore, there is less thing to wash.

My MIL have been using this since hubby was very young (probably >30 years oredi?) , so by now, it has a seasoned smooth pounding surface (something money cannot buy!)

You must think that I am very traditional LOL…..

I have been wanting one of this traditional “tumbuk” (stone pounder or also known as mortar and pestle) for quite sometime. The reason I refuse to get a new one is because but stone powder keeps on coming out when we use the pound until me and my mum also gave up “seasoning it”!

So QQ, lets get to work and we will have sambal dried prawn tonight!!

Problem with greetings

Am back from a long holiday (Actually did not manage to rest a lot also, since I feel even more uncomfortable being out from my own home, sleeping in the hotel bed :( )

We went back to hubby’s hometown early for Cheng Beng prayer this time. Although QQ has got a little cousin to play with, this time, they really fight for everything, from toys to even car seat in the car.

It make things worse when she refuse to greet her aunties and uncles (as if it is me who failed to teach her to greet people).

For instant, when her little cousin is taking vitamin and she also want it, her aunt was so hard on her and refuse to give it to her until she calls her. My girl is really stubborn and you know, she can just sit there and sob, tears falling down, looking at me telling me softly that she wants it. No matter how much we persuade her to call her aunt, she would still refuse and rather sit there and continue sobbing quietly.

It really makes me look like a failure, and I guess I am the only one mother with such problem among all my friends. Is it because she is shy or what? I notice this gets worse as she grows. Anyone could advice how to teach my girl to greet adults just like other kids?

Hotel booking made easy

25.03.08 / best & good / Author: chinneeq / Comments Off

It is every travelers concern to find the best hotel they can afford wherever they travel. Although most of the time, we only spend our time sleeping in the hotel while traveling, able to stay comfortable for a night is also very important after a tiring day spending on sight seeing. Normally I would go browse through the room to get the feel of the place that I am going to stay so that I know what to expect when I reaches there. Besides online hotel booking sites in English, Spanish-speaking travelers can also now check for descuento en hoteles online at http://espanol.hotels.com.

Still remember the glass bottle coke?

22.03.08 / remember me / Author: chinneeq / Comments Off

I still remember we used to have these little cute looking glass bottles for our Coca-cola and other gas drinks when I was little. The man in the van or tricycle from the sundry shop would send a few cartons over to our house, especially it is near to the New Year celebration. After we finished the drinks, we can sell it back to the shop for recycle.
