I hate dust. Although we live by the jungle (with lots of trees opposite our house), there are still lots of dust at home everywhere. I used to vacuum the hard floor, as I find it easier to capture the dust as compare to the broom. However after finding out the disadvantage of this vacuum, I know seldom use it and I sweep instead. I am actually eyeing on a bagless vacuum, something like Eureka Vacuum that can even vacuum the bed and sofa. With food droppings and lots of littering around the house, a small but powerful vacuum would be good to do the quick cleaning job on spot.
