How to be a good host?

After so much complaints and inconvenience, finally we got our car last week (after sticking these pictures on our fridge for more than a year).

Now pulak is the hassle to return my SIL’s car so hubby would have to make a trip again before the CNY since I won’t be able to drive for hours and handle QQ in the car myself.

This is our first CNY gathering at a friend’s house. (Mummy only remembers to eat but forgot to take photo of QQ playing happily with the host’s kids).

Some kids are really nice host as they willing to let their little friends play their toys and entertain their little friends while their parents talk. QQ also get to play whatever the little kor-kor is playing (who is only 2 years older complaints to me…hehe…)

I wonder how to train my kid to be a good host so my guests and their kids can enjoy themselves (instead of crying and rushing for the same toys) ?

Equal love?

While I was taking my shower just now, this question popped out of my mind.

“Can there be equal love?”

  • For great devoted husbands who keep mistresses,
  • For teachers who have favour only certain students
  • For parents who have more than one child

When I first got pregnant with QQ, I feel so much love for her while she was in me. But this time, I am sad to admit that I feel nothing like the first time although I am into my 4th month now. Even hubby wasn’t so anxious like previously.

I mean, I am happy when I found out I got pregnant, but it is only mainly because QQ would have someone to play with, and I”ll have more children, not because “I am carrying another baby”. *so bad hor this mummy!*

Come on, we see some of the old people in our family talks about their favourite child all time. Does that mean they love one more than the other?

I am sure all mums with only one child would feel the same as I do now, and wonder if all mums with more than one child really can love their children equally…….

How productive are you?

Are you are productive blogger? Productive in another meaning is the output you manage to create (returns can be in either monetary, blog rankings or visitors) versus the input (time spend online, ideas and research). I do start out my passion in blogging then into a money making business (with certain weekly monitoring, measurements and review) but now, more of leisure writing.

Well, I do consider myself a productive mother, as I am able to take full care of my little one while managing the household at home being just a full time mother. On the other hand, I am not a very productive income earner to the family as I have been spending less time on my work at home, but spending more leisure time with my friends and also family activities.

We are not moving anymore

27.01.08 / remember me / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (0)

Moving to new home is an exciting event, but it can be very tiring also for the adults. When we first moved into our new home, there was so much to clean, so much to touch up. To save some of our expenses on our new home, only both hubby and I did all the cleaning and painting. We spent so much time touching up each area and handle our first home with full of love. The painting was neat and nicely done. We even travelled all the way to some distance to get our new home curtain in order to meet our budget.

The best part of our moving is that we got everything new when we moved into our new home. That means we do not have much House clearance to do. As we only rented a little room, we only had a double bed to shift to our new home. Therefore we only required to hire a little truck to help us with the move while most of the furniture was new.

But if you ask me again today to shift to another new home, it would definitely be a great nightmare. I can’t really imagine packing everything in my house now we are fully furnished, on both floors.

My Gal speaks “Ang Moh” now

While we were in the bathroom, turning the Grohe faucets, suddenly she said:

“Ma, may I go to the toilet, please?”

Haha….see my girl now could speak better English after she goes to school. We normally speaks Mandarin at home, plus a bit of English and Hokkien. In her pre-school the teachers speak mainly English and she really picks up a lot from there.

(Do note that each pre-school has different focus on their main language so it is wise to check in advance on what language you want your child to pick up in school)

day.JPG

Each night before sleep, QQ would ask me “What day is today” and “What day is tomorrow?”. She is always eager to find out whether she goes to school the next day, or it is public holiday.

To make it easy for her to remember, I wrote some cards and paste them on according to the arrival of the day on my curtain (started with Monday).

This morning, I asked her,

“Which is Wednesday?”

“The bottom one la….”

“Which is Monday?”

“The top one lor….”

Tips: I stick velcro from Mamy Poko diaper dehind the card so they can stick easily on my curtain!

How much to spend for CNY clothings?

Everyone is talking about their kids CNY clothes and I see a lot people really willing to spend a bomb for their kids clothings. With more kids coming, we try to cut down our expenses and see how far we could go this time.

Remember once we went MV but couldn’t get any CNY clothes that we like for QQ? Well, this time I manage to find a nice pair, just within my budget and I am so happy with it liao (so kiamsiap Mummy this year!)

Hubby thinks I must be crazy and keep on buzzing me to get her another pair….

Well, QQ wardrobe is full of clothes and since she hardly wears them, I don’t see there is a need to spend so unnecessary since she is going to outgrow them soon. Would be able to pack them into luggage soon if she can’t fits in them.

And well, this morning, she gets another 2 pairs, one from her cousin, and one from her nanny :)

HAHAHA…..no need to buy liao!!!!!!!!!

Wonder how much most parents allocate for each of their kids clothing?

I feel like a human again!

Entering into my 2nd trimester (16th weeks) of my pregnancy, I finally feel like a human again.

  • My nausea isn’t so bad anymore so I start cooking our meals again.
  • My body feels normal again, so I could sleep better at night.
  • My back doesn’t ache so much anymore.
  • QQ is getting use to schooling days, and less cranky nowadays.
  • I feel more energetic so I can do all housework again.

Oh, why can’t 2nd trimester last longer than 1st trimester and 3rd trimester? I think I should get myself a nice home from Hilton Head rentals to rest and sleep all I want these few weeks while I still can :)

Who do you think need them most?

21.01.08 / remember me / Author: chinneeq / Comments: (11)

There is a new pub situated in my housing area and frequently I see a lot of nice cars parking outside on the parking lot. As the shop is situated on the first floor of the shop lot, they have even some “guards” standing downstairs, to take care of that place, as if looking out for something. Funny part is, I normally see some “old men” (I mean men above age 50) going in and out of that place. So tell me, why is it so common for men to stray at this age (I suspect they visit there for a reason, if you know what I mean).

Common, men who has a stable career and establish family has nothing to worry about a growing family. By then, all their kids are grown up, and these men would not even have children greeting them when they come back from work. Meanwhile, their wife who is probably only a few years younger would also be too old or worn out to look at. So where do you think they would go to seek for “entertainment” with the money they have?

So you know why those Viagra is selling so well nowadays since you know who needs them most. Obviously not consume by those young and dashing looking men la…hahahah!!!

Cruise Vacation

I have lots of fantasy about going aboard on cruise after watching the famous movie, The Titanic (minus the drowning part). Believe or not, until today I have not been to a cruise, be it a local cruise or overseas. I have heard so much about the excitement on board, where there is so much to play, to enjoy and to eat whole day long. The price can be pretty reasonable depends on what cruise and what room that we are interested in. For better view of the ocean from the room, it would be more expensive than the submarine type (room under the water).

If you have heard of the romantic Love Boat, then you might probably hear of Princess Cruise line. This cruise has been very famous and over the past 30 years since its introduction to the world. For first class itinerary cruising, the Carnival Cruises would be a best choice. Even their staterooms are much bigger than other cruise lines if space is a concern for you. What attracts me is the first class Vegas-style shows that is available on this cruise.

Cruising is also another way to discover the multiple countries just in one journey. With Mediterranean Cruises, you do not have to transfer your luggage from city to city while it brings you around the countries. The amenities are so good that you will feel as if you are staying in one of the best hotels in the world.

Do you allow your kids to skip school?

We just found out that we would not have our car before the arrival of CNY ..*mad*

It is really sad as we placed our booking on last September, and the branch that we went to did not manage to get us the color of the car that we want although we are supposed to get the car in the first batch arrived.

We are now searching frantically for another 7-seater (that can accomodate 3 car seats) but after visiting a few showrooms yesterday, either they are too expensive or we find some not worth buying at all. We do consider recond cars but QQ was extremely sensitive to the smell of the interior of used cars, sigh….If only money is not a problem, we could have a wider choice, sigh…..

So today hubby got to take a bus back to his hometown to borrow a car from my SIL so that I could drive QQ to school. Was wondering if it is acceptable for other parents to allow their kids skip pre-school when inconvenience arrise?

I just couldn’t bear to make QQ skip school anymore, especially after my hardship of getting her settling down in school!

Dono whats wrong with us these days, everything seems to fall apart.

Car Issue

Hubby start working late now, and with only one car at the moment, QQ had to miss school sometimes if I can’t borrow my niece’s car. So difficult only got her adjust to school, and now pulak she got chance to escape school for some stupid reasons.

Another obstacle is that our new car will not arrive until late February and left us without a “safe car” to travel long distance during Chinese New Year. Talking about luck, I think i need to go temple, burn more josstick and money papers liao!

No even $10 cash left at home!

Coincidently, today I left with no money (after settling QQ’s music fee), no transport and worst till, no more milk powder left at home for QQ. Even though my neighbour wanna help me to go out and buy since hb will come back so late, so paiseh to tell them I got no money! Ended up got to borrow some milk powder from my neighbour…see lar….so teruk me!!

Not paid by one advertiser since Oct 2007

I did not even realise that I have not been paid by one of the advertiser on more than 30+ posts since Oct although it shows I am paid in their site. I traced my PalPay, trace my email but did not receive notification at all. Worst till, why only now that I realised? Sigh….Think I must have gone crazy!!

Sorry if you need to read my rantings…..am going to bed now, doubt I can sleep tonite! *&$#@*&@!

What is your child’s daily schedule?

Until today, QQ still cry whenever I send her to school in the morning. She has to be dragged out of bed, each morning, forced to dress and shoved into the car. Of course, reaching school, either her teacher will have to pull her out from the car, or she walk down herself very unwilling.

But when I pick her up from school, she seems happy. Ask her if she wanna go tomorrow, surely she will say “YES” (of course, it is another story the next morning).

I wonder if she really get not enough sleep at night. I have been putting her to sleep earlier than usual and this is our schedule:

7.00am: Drink milk (still sleeping)
8.00am: Wake up (unwillingly)
8.40am: Reach school (crying)
12.30noon: Pick her up from school
4.00pm: Nap
6.00pm: Wake up to play
9.30pm: Go to bed (but only knocked off at 10something)

Oh, God, tell me, if there is something wrong in her schedule that I still need to adjust? Or it is only her temporary whinning? Probably I should get a pocket watch to time all her activities!

My first Pineapple tarts

These days are really crazy for me, rushing in and out all day long and yet I have time to go experience and bake this babies….

Not bad for first timer hor? Failing to make the sunflower tarts, I had to resort to this rolled type last minute.

Of course lazy bum like me would not make my own pineapple jam but buy them.

And I made 2 batches of them, one with egg white ( I think taste more crunchy) and one without (more powdery). Wanna see the whole process, more pictures here.

No matter how good my pastry is, my tarts can never beat the Melaka pineapple tarts (with hand grated pineapple). If you know anyone who sells manually grated pineapple filling, please let me know!

With these machine made lousy jam, my 2 versions tart still taste fantastic, hehe…..*see who made them*

Don’t think the 100 tarts can last till CNY, hard not to eat it la…hehehe…..
