Love Is All About Play

Saturday: 3 November 2007

The year end is coming and it is reaching into the 8th month since I voluntary run this playgroup in Sg.Long Buddhist society. Initially when I was offered to give this a try, there was so much doubt that came to my mind such as:

  • What if I can’t handle the group
  • What if I need to go back to work one day
  • What if I do not have the time and energy to continue it

But if any mums out there asking me if I ever regret, I would say loudly, NO, I DON’T. In fact I hope my daughter can stay in this playgroup, forever and ever. Running this playgroup is the best thing ever happen to me, for the satisfaction is so much more than anything that money can buy. Mummies, if you can, each out and volunteer yourself for the sake of your own kids, and other children as well. Go search for societies, temples or church and offer them 2 hours a week to run a playgroup in your place. Anymore info on how to start that, I’ll help you to start it on scratch.

Ok, let me update about our last week’s activity.

See we have our own Underwater World, Safari, and Bird Park corner? Tell you, we even have a Jurassic Park!

These two mummies on duties, Joanne and Cheng Sim came out with a fantastic idea. Instead of free play for the first hour, they created a Pretend Zoo. Joanne took the initiative to show the kids some animals, along with some songs with noise the animals made. She even prepared a very easy and fun craft, a Spider to go with her Itsy-Bitsy-Spider song and actions.

See the nice animal on the velcro board? Cheng Sim did a very nice story telling using the velcro board animal where all kids can’t wait for their turn to stick the animal on board. During break, Kelly even surprise us this time with her nice little birthday bash for her little girl, Wen Wen. Each kid were treated a cup of homemade pudding, a lil cheese tart and a party pack.

I really appreciate all the effort put in from all mummies in this playgroup. Everything is so well planned and even most of the toys and stuffs were bring from home. Thank you to all of you, not only my girl enjoy this playgroup, but I am even more lucky to have found you all.
